ROFLMAO!! Man, did we see this one coming or not!! Well, at least you gave him food for thought and I'll bet his mind is going in a thousand different directions right now. And as you pointed out, if they actually had "the Truth", then they should be able to back up EVERYTHING they teach from the bible and the bible alone. He knows damn well that he can't so he doesn't want to meet with you. What a guy!
One of the MS's in my Hall didn't really know much about the pedophile problem within the Organization so I filled him in. He was shocked and a bit sceptical. But, he did see something Friday morning on CNN about 4 sisters who are suing the Organization and he watched part of it. Made him VERY uneasy to say the least. I told him that if he asks Jeff or Bob or Bill (our elders) about it, that they'll tell him that it's just "apostates" and "Satan" trying to destroy the Organization. Sure enough, in Service this morning that is the exact scenario that played out. So I know I got him thinkin'!!

Woman Are Inferior?

they hold no responsibilities in the congregation except cleaning the toilets and not much more.
we all know that woman are just as intelligent as men, and some could even be good elders.

The apostle Paul was a male chauvanist by todays standards. He's the one who made all the comments like "I do not permit a woman to teach" and "let a woman learn in silence" and "wives, be obedient to your husbands, blah, blah, blah."
Jesus was far more liberal and tended to treat women far better than other men of the day. He spoke to the woman at the well, he appeared to women first after being resurrected.........Paul was totally influenced by the culture he was raised in and his comments in the bible are, in my opinion, not inspired by God, but his own personal opinion.
Just as our culture has changed to where we don't own slaves any more, then the culture that discriminated against women 2,000 years ago shouldn't be taken as gospel truth today in the 21st century.

and smoothed (pressured) him over, he will be here at noon saturday... my brother and i have worked him over on the phone , and he already admitts he can't prove jesus choose the wt in 1919 etc etc...as he can't get the older wt's.... so he's speaking presumptuously...... i did a little studying today , and he is in big trouble... we will keep him on the subject, at all costs... and the subject will be false prophecies of the wt... i have decided to just wing it, and throw out all kinds wt rotten food.... mike is hot over here and i'm quite sure we can have his head spinning in short order.... we are going to hit the finished mystery book hard... but i am open for any ideas to put the last nail in his coffin....john

I think you're smart to emphasize that there's no proof or even indication that Jehovah chose the F&DSC in 1919, because Jesus never "returned" in 1914, because their 2,520 year "prophecy" is out by 20 years, as Jerusalem was destroyed in 586 BCE, not 607 BCE. Without that date, the entire structure of the religion falls apart.
I would also point out that Jesus merely said "Who is the faithful and discreet servant? Happy is he IF his master arrives.....blah blah, blah." It doesn't say that that this servant WOULD be found faithful, and it certainly doesn't identify this servant as a bunch of old men in New York City 2,000 years after these words were spoken.
I would also emphasize Matthew chapter 24 and how the word "parousia" means "return, arrival, advent, coming" as well as "presence". Reading this chapter, there is absolutely nothing to indicate that it would be an "invisible return" as the JWs say, because it specifically says "every eye will see him". Now your PO will say that this is only referring to the "eye of understanding" and that only certain ones understood this in 1914. You can then hit him with the zapper: then why was this doctrine that Jesus "returned" in 1914 not published until the 1920s? Up until then, the Bible Students believed Jesus had returned in 1874. If no one was aware that he (supposedly) returned in 1914, then how did ANYONE understand this with "the eye of understanding"?

Paradise Lost
by Perry inthinking back to my most earliest of memories, i remember the wonderment of life.
i can still smell the pugnent floral breezes and experience being mesmerized into hypnosis watching the white linen sheets dance to an unheard accompaniment on the clothes line.
mother seemed like a god to me the way she hung that laundry so effortlessly and happily.

Yep I remember that picture in the Paradise book too, but the one I remember most is the one showing a man's foot stomping on the head of a snake with the caption "He will bruise you in head and you will bruise Him in the heal."
That picture, coupled with the prophetic "I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed" made me think that that's why we all hate snakes and that snakes are all Satan in disguise.

Can I assume that your wife is still an active Witness? If so, maybe you bring up the pedophile issue and see what this good Dub has to say. I spoke to my sister the other day about it (an elder's wife) and she didn't have a clue as to the severaty of the problem. They were told at the KM meeting, that if the issue comes up out in Service, to simply say "all organizations have problems and weren't not exempt." I stressed to her that it's one thing to have pedophiles in the Organization, it's quite another to cover the dam thing up.
