My best guess is that the WT writer was just lazy, or sloppy, or both. I would guess that the "job offer" was for the girl to leave Ethiopia and accept a job in the European Union. A wage of 3000 Euros per month is either pretty good or at least average, depending on which particular country the job was in.

It would still stretch the bounds of credulity. Why would anyone in the European Union offer an obscure, uneducated Ethiopian girl a job that paid 3,000 euros/month? What exactly was she so qualified to do without any "higher education"? And as already mentioned, no one is "offered a a scholarship" no matter what your grades are. You have to apply for it. I think it's fair to say that this was not just the Writing Department being 'lazy' or 'sloppy'----they simply told an outrageous lie made up from a ficticious character with an unrealistic and absurd setting and have tried passing it off as a wonderful example of Christian financial martyrdom.

Uh, have no fear Crooklyn----there have been horny old sexually stimulated men in the congregations long before the internet was around. That creepy PO who had the hots for me when I was a teenager and he was a million years old......Another elder who never um, looked you in the eye when he was talking to you. I remember getting spoken to by two of the local gestapo because I had been out alone (gasp!) with my best friend (at the time) who happened to be a guy. We must have been committing fornication right? No such thing as a platonic relationship..........I always dressed modestly as a Dub so they couldn't bitch about what I wore, although I was once 'cautioned' about a grey knit dress I wore to the meeting. This article has little to do with porn. They're far more worried about the average Witness stumbling cross sites like this, or FreeMinds or jwfact.com rather than inadvertedly seeing a pair of breasts.

my wife recovered from depression just 14 months ago and things have been going well.....so much so that i started a buisness for her and we are two weeks into it.

my labby was ill vomiting abit of discomfort, i thought great, you ate something bad again!

the vet gave him a shot and sent us home.

There's nothing but time that will help heal the pain you feel at losing a much loved pet. It's lousy when they die because they're a member of the family and it hurts. Remember that your pet had a good life with you and was happy. That won't bring them back, but it can help you and your wife through this.

And when you compare that to the conversion rate I quoted, I think this is further proof that this was no unintentional error on the part of the Writing Committee.

Three thousand Euros a month for an uneducated female in Ethiopia eh? Ok, to put this into perspective, the conversion rate from Euros to the Birr is:

3,000.00 EUR = 67,903.94 Ethiopian Birr

The average income in each household in Ethiopia is about 200 Ethiopia Birr per month. Even for those who have a PhD, salaries appear to be between 2,500 and 3,000 Birr per month. Sooooo a young, inexperienced Witness with absolutely no education beyong general schooling manages to land a job that pays her 20 times the amount that someone with a doctorate working at a private university in Ethiopia makes? Riiiiiiight.

Even for the Writing Department who are notorious for gross exageration, this figure is absurd beyond words. To bring it closer to home, lets look at it this way: Say the average wage for a Professor at a private university in the USA is $6,000 - $8,000/month. And some unnamed Witness, with no education beyond high school is offered a job at an [unnamed] company that offers them a starting salary of $120,000/month which is 20 times the amount that someone with a doctorate working at a private university in North America makes. News like this would hit CNN and every other newscast within days.

Of course, most Witnesses will just look at this article in awe and think 'Wow, what faith this young sister has!'. No one will question the insanity of what they're actually saying. And since these articles are all written, examined, and re-examined for errors before they hit the presses, I sincerely doubt this was an oversight. After all, if some 'apostates' can spot it within seconds of reading it, shouldn't those at the center of the universe have been able to spot it?

Increased promotion of 'worship' to the Faithful Slave in the Watchtower

i have heard it said that over the past few months, the magazines have been filled with pro-gb garbage promoting complete obedience to the body.

can anybody point me to any examples?.
