  If You Still "Had" To Go To Meetings What "Disrespectful" Things Might You Do?

  i know some who go to meetings because they feel they have to because of family or other considerations.. imagine going to a meeting and having your iphone with you!.

  how would it look if you had a watchtower in your hands along with a tv guide?.

  think about going to a meeting with strong booze breath.. any other suggestions?

  I love the suggestions made by cagefighter.... I'd probably be more subtle, yet obvious enough. Not wearing a tie. Wearing Jeans. Lots of jewelry. Dye my hair red. Arrange for someone to call my cellphone during the meeting. "Forget" to take my allergy medication and cough, sneeze and sniff during the entire meeting. "Accidentally" fall when I go to the bathroom. "Accidentally" turn off the lights as I lean against the wall. Swap sheets of paper on the info board between congregations. Steal toilet paper/soap/paper towels from the bathroom. "Accidentally" drop the microphone.

  the witnesses are worse than the pharisees ever were!.

  if you don't turn in a time slip and record your "ministerial" activities, you are no good.. if you wanted to smoke, you would be kicked out, even though the bible says nothing about smoking (and j.f.

  rutherford, the society's president regularly smoked).. you cannot go to a "quick build" project and give of your free services if you are wearing a tee shirt with a logo on it!.

  Wearing colored shirts. What color should my car be. When someone inadvertedly says : Happy (insert holiday here) and you're not supposed to say: "You too!!". Saying Bless you, when someone sneezes. What movies you can and can't watch. In my area, anything "new" is right away dubbed as being "innapropriate for a Christian", from the time JEANS came out to the latest 2012 movie. But as time goes by, and more and more witnesses do it, the thinking seems to lax.

  Memorial Service at Khall - would you go (even as a DF'd exJW)?

  i ask because a friend of mine (who stays in touch once in awhile) had made it clear to me about 6 mos ago that he didn't care if i was df'd or not - that he still would speak to me and check up on me.

  well his parents are both disabled, and his father recently died in the house!

  so he sends me a text telling his father passed - and i told him i would call him.

  Sorry, I got cut off from my last post, but I think that last quote tells you how much it would mean to him that you're there. He'd probably get more solace from you alone, than from the entrie congregation who'll be there just because they have to, not because they want to. I would definetely go, but you alone know every single detail to the whole story. I like shera's suggestion of going with his sister.

  Well, when it was all about YOU being DF, hard time, depression, whatever you might've been going through, you friend was still there for you, regardless of what others thought, even if they didn't really know what was going on:

  I think you should do the same for him. If your friend has made it clear you mean so much to him he's willing to riks talking to you even though that could get the elders on his derrier, I think you can also risk facing some ugly memories and a few snobs.

  HE would not act 'off' around me and he would acknowledge me IN FRONT of everyone.

  does porneia, frequently translated "fornication" refer to sex before marriage?

  catholic theologan that i know says it does not.

  I agree with PSacramento. Last I checked, porneia was ANY kind of sexual encounter/situation/use of the genital organs with another person, outside of God's arrangement of marriage. As to why you guys are not finding it in a dictionary...well porneia is the Greek term (right?), you have to look up the English equivalent: fornication. Actually, searching porneia in wikipedia will redirect you to fornication.

  Porneia does not include adultery

  So, yeah, adultery is a form of porneia (fornication). Having sex with someone other than your mate.

  Does anyone remebr the "Rooming Work"

  when a convention was to be held in your city and it was believed there weren't enough hotel rooms available or at least affordable ones, the witnesses living in that city were asked to go out into the territory and ask people if they had a room or rooms someone attending the convention could use.

  you could report your time doing this as part of your ministry.

  i could never bring myself (14 or 15) to do this....it just seemed too weird for a kid to go to a house and ask the householder for a room but many kids in the hall did this.

  Regarding the PBS special on The Mormons previously discussed....

  i finally got around to watching the entire special - its 4 hours long but very fascinating.. i'm not sure if its been posted on here, but you can watch it online:.

  if you get a chance - go under part two and watch chapter four entitled "the mission", chapter 6 "dissenters and exiles", and chapter 7 "disciplinary actions" ........those chapters are so freakishly similar to jw's that it sent chills down my spine.. actually, the entire special made me think how similar these religions are - mainly as high control authoritarian groups.
