There was a sister in our hall who breast fed her child long past the norm. The child was tall enough to stand and nurse in the back room while the mother carried on a conversatin with the other sisters back there. She claimed she did this becaue the girl had pulled a scalding hot pot of coffee over on herself as a todler and nursing helped her deal with the trauma of having skin grafts. Many of the sisters claimed it was because the mother enjoyed having larger breasts and didn't want to give them up.
What do you want to bet the girls in the video are home schooled and Mom belongs to a food Co-Op ?
There are worse things than this but these parents who turn their kid into a project kinda get under my skin and the kids usually turn out a bit odd.
our 12 year old daughter has been very unhappy lately (middleschool blues) and i tried to think back on the things that have made me unhappy in my 60+ years of life-.
i condensed them down to five categories- let's see if you good jwn'ers can come up with any categories i missed--.
you have lost/missed something important and can't get it back.
Unhappiness comes when your personal reality isn't living up to the standards held by your personal belief system.
People who beleive it should be sunny most of the time become depressed on cloudy days while to those who don't hold that belief, it's just another day.

I asked my 30+ year pioneer mother in law in 2008 what she thought was going to happen when the 1914 generation is gone and Armegeddon hasn't come. She said the system can't go on much longer.

I wondered what she was intening to teach her Bible Studies when this topic came up in their study.
We are all hoping for a dramatic fall of the organization so as to feel a sense of vindacation over all the lost time in our lives we've suffered for being so gullable for so long. I don't see it ever happening. They are selling a dream and as long as people need a dream to hang on to, they will do all in their power to keep it real. I think the Society is making it less complicated for it's members to keep their dream by tapering back on the obligations one must fulfill to be part of the dream.
somewhat of a turning point occurred for me in 1966 when life everlasting in freedom of the sons of god book was released at the assemblies that year.
this you may know was the book that calculated 1975 would end 6000 years of humanity on earth possibly leaving the "thousand years" of revelation to complete the 7000-year "creative day.

It does sound like the book was implying that Adam went around trying out the animals to see if he could hit it off with any of them. I'm sure what was meant was he looked for a companion in a non sexual way, the way a faithful dog is thought of as ones companion. It seems like Adam's future was wide open at this point and Jehovah hadn't already decided to make another human. He wanted to see if Adam could do ok on his own first.It would have been biologically impossible to expect that with an animal as a mate, Adam would fill the earth with offspring and subdue it. Such a suggestion would have caused an uproar even with the most brainwashed JW.
The strange thing is that this is all written as if the writer had some inside information or proof that it was all so. Witnesses read this stuff and went along with it....fpr them there was no need for any proof.
it is with great interest that i recently read ceders article on the decline of the wts.
his article along with many of the comments really drives home just how many major changes there have been in a fairly short peroid of time.. somewhere in the recent past i could swear that someone had posted a bullet list of major changes with the corresponding year.
when i saw this (or something like it) my first thought was that this simple list made it all the more shocking; and since i have searched and cannot find anything like it.. so i dug around and started one of my own, please feel free to add/corrects events.

I used to sit at the Governing Body table at Bethel in the late 70's. and every few weeks Fred Franz would conduct the "morning worship" which of course was not really worship but an opportunity for more indoctrination. Fred always had on a 1940' style suit and tie. Although dated, he looked pretty sharp for an old guy. He seemed pretty nice but a bit in a world of his own. I got the impression he came to Bethel from the outside world at a young age as so many of those there did and then stopped progressing...was sort of frozen in time somewhat. He was nearly blind by then so that probably had something to do with it. He sort of gazed off into the middle distance with milky blue eyes and just listened to those around him. At this particular meal we were to have ice cream for desert and he mentioned something about not having any because he needed to watch his Cholesterol. I told him that I had heard on the radio that day that garlic was thought to combat high cholesterol, to which he replied. "yes....but it also combats your friends"

I don't think he'd be disfellowshipped but he wouldn't be allowed to be a parking lot attendant or handle the roving microphones for at least 6 months.
hi everyone, i would like to introduce myself and tell my story.
from the standpoint of being one of jehovahs witnesses, my whole family is deeply involved as i was the 5th generation of witness and any children that my brothers or sister have will be the sixth generation.
as some of my brothers and sisters are grandparents, i guess that makes their grandchildren a potential 7th generation.
