If you CHANGE what you said was TRUE...How could it have been true??

if the bible says anything; it says what it says.. what is said doesn't change because nobody is continuing to write it.. the bible cannot change, then.. god's word (if that is what the bible is) doesn't change.however, if any person or group interprets the bible's doctrines and the doctrines change, then,it must be the interpreter who is in error.. (i call it "error" because; why change it otherwise?).

who would have enough hubris to risk representing god's word one way---and declare it truth--only to change that truth into something else?.

answer: the watchtower society!.

Here's a line of reasoning I will start using:

Where does the Governing Body get their information? The answer will be Jehovah's holy spirit.

If I told you that one thing you believed is no longer the case, wouldn't at least one of the two ideas have to be wrong? Of course, at least one would be incorrect.

Has God ever been wrong about anything?

Then their information couldn't possibly be coming from Jehovah. So if it's not coming from Jehovah, where is it coming from? It's coming from men. Does the Bible say we should put our trust in men? No

If they come back with, "but the Bible writers were men." Yes, but how many times did they change what they wrote? Zero.

being angry with god...just purely...angry.... i am going to talk about god...and i'm hurting...so i just need to talk.

i wish a lot of things...so maybe right now i just wish to be able to talk about this with someone..because i feel very alone.. .

you can't heal yourself" ... if i go to therapy...if i work on being mindful...or eliminating fear..how is that god helping?

I know exactly what you are going through. I'm experiencing the same exact thing you are right now. It's uncanny. I can't offer any help, except to say you aren't alone in your feelings. If I knew any way to help, I wouldn't be in the position I am now. Only thing I can say is that it freaking sucks.

Simple yes/no answers

i just can't understand jw beliefs so i thought i'd try to get some simple yes/no answers.

this is a genuine effort to understand and i hope nobody takes it as an insult.

hope some of you folks don't mind spending a bit of time on this.

we had a discussion at lunch today.

some are sure he wasn't and some sure that he was.. i want to believe that he was there.. just interesting to hear what you think?.

He definitely did. All of the "evidence" disputing the moon landing have all been disproven time and time again. Like with the JFK assassination and 9/11, there will always be people who doubt just for the sake of doubting.

Has a local needs talk been given about you?

this was briefly mentioned in one of miseryloveselders threads, but i had the honor of a local needs talk pointed at me.

shortly before i got married to my "worldly" husband there was a talk about "marrying only in the lord", "do not become unevenly yoked", blah blah blah.. i wasn't shocked that it was given, i was actually waiting to hear about it.

i was more surprised that they waited until about a month before our wedding day to give it.

There was a brother from Cameroon who came to visit. He stayed with my parents and they convinced me to go to at least hear his talk. After the first half hour of his talk, he spent an additional five-ten minutes talking about "don't stray from Jehovah's organization. This is the true organization blah blah blah blah we must help those who are spiritually weak". I'm pretty sure the extra time spent was dedicated to me.

Yes, it is 100% accurate

Yes, there are no contradictions

No, NWT is infallible

No, it's all accurate

Yes, written by men, inspired by God

No, written by men, all inspired of God

Yes, to all of the first four statements

Yes, all animals come from Noah's Ark

Yes, all insects come from Noah's Ark

Not necassarily. According to the account, there must have been trees alive when the waters came back down.

Yes, because birds can't fly around for half a year without resting on something.

Errr, the answer is holy spirit.

Once again, holy spirit.

Ahhh... yes they must have adapted... through holy spirit.

Dinosaurs were wiped out by the flood.

No dinosaurs were on Noah's ark.

Bats are sort of like birds.

Animals died before "the fall". How else would Adam and Eve know what death were?

Before the fall, animals must have been vegetarians since no animals harm each other in new world, and new world is replica of paradise from old.

I see your lines of reasoning. Very clever thinking there.

Something a brother said to me

today a brother said something to me about my opinions of the doctrinal changes and imperfections of the gb.

he said "there have been many imperfect men in the past who have made mistakes, but god had no problem using those people".

my reply was "yeah, but how many things have they written in the bible that are incorrect?".

Those are some very valid points that go right along with what I'm saying. Those who do know of governing body feelings are quick to find excuses for them. If they are so imperfect that they would mislead with false prophecies, why should we listen to anything we say? If someone kept telling us we for sure had cancer, yet we go to the doctor and we don't have cancer, how much trust would we put into that person?
