funny times growing up a witness

i was raised from the age two as a witness by my new recruit parents in 1981. i was born in 79.. i didn't like being jw, and that didn't mean i was a saint.. and my parents were fanatical and still are.. i have an an older sister and a younger brother and we are all 2 years apart.. my brother and i were a riot.

mischeivious, rambuctious, hyperactive and not afraid of nothing.. we had games over the years.. like singing in british accents during the songs(and during bible reading at family study) and screwing with the word just loud enough for each other to hear.. we used to have armrest battles when we sat beside eachother.

pushing elbows until the other slipped and got in trouble.

Your games remind me of the games I used to play. I used to sing really over the top when I was little. Drove my mother mad.

It's mind games really. By saying "spirit-guided King" it's lowering the position of Jesus yet at the same time raising the GB's position. "Heck, the Governing Body is spirit-guided too!" Putting themselves on the same level of Jesus.

This also helps them keep the R&F following them. "We wanna follow Jesus so if they have the same qualifications, they must be right. Spirit-guided, just like Jesus!"

brotherdan, I was told by a JW who posted a comment on my blog that the reason why the WT joined the UN was to use their library. Yes, because there are no other good libraries in NY

CO's putting the screws on elder bodies, and ministerial servants to auxilliary pioneer this April.

i have such a love/hate, 50/50 relationship with this organization any more, but a letter was read to the elders and ministerial servants that has pushed me to the 30/70 range in favor of hate, if even momentarily.

most of you if not all are aware of the auxilliary pioneering initiative for this upcoming april.

it's no secret that i'm not real fond of pioneering as its unscriptural for one thing.

i just looked up some population statistics.

i saw there are over a billion children under the age of 10 on the earth today.

(didn't research too hard - just googled it.

Its this teaching that bugs me more than anything else. JW's will deny that it is one of their teachings but it is.

i have just read in these following paragraphs something that would disturb my conscience, notice:.

12 they also saw that there are but two organizations in the universe and that everyone belongs either to god's organization or to satan's, the latter on earth being composed of big business, big politics and big religion.

34 the world's political wild beast rules supreme under the name-number 666, while big politics, big religion, and big business keep that wild beast functioning as an oppressor of mankind and a persecutor of god's people.

My Trip to the Unitarian Universal Church

so, pretty much i no longer care to believe in a god.

but, either because of my 20 years in a jw daze, or because humans just desire this, i miss the community.

so, i went to a unitarian church this morning.

Here's an update to what has happened since I used the words, "Big News," five years ago

as many of you know, i made the "big news" statement when kerry louderback-wood's scholarly article about watch tower's blood misrepresentation that was published in the journal of church and state was just about to be published.

i was excited about it because lives were at stake and weve never had such an article before to be able to use to show how the watch tower misrepresents the blood issue through its literature and people die because of it.

Has it really gotten anywhere? I've not once heard an elder say something along the lines of "dont' ask don't tell". They are very adamant about having your blood card filled out!

ever listened to a song, and the lyrics really touched & hit a nerve with what you are going through faith wise?.

i listened to an album the other day for the first time and there was a lot - quite a few of the songs hit.

i'm not afraid to say that driving along, some made tears well up a bit - it was the robbie williams escapology album, the songs "better man" and "come undone" had lines in them that really hit home.
