"Imagine" by John Lennon. Cheesy, but it serves the purpose.

Get to the point!
by Mr. Falcon intwo jehovah's witnesses walk up to a house and knock on the door.
a younger man wearing a t-shirt with all kinds of swirl-patterns on it (think tie-dye, but not quite) answers the door and the first jw goes into his presentation.
he is offering the watchtower on the "occult" (cue spooky music).

How can anybody claim to know what God was trying to say with the Bible? Seems rather egotistical to think we can even come close.

Friends dad committed suicide...
by MrFreeze inan old friend from in the jw's dad (who was a non-jw) committed suicide the other day.
i've been trying to call him for days but he doesn't answer.
probably doesn't want to talk to someone "lawless and demon-infested".

So I ended up going. I didn't know what to expect. I thought at the very least I could be there for the whole family not just him. I was warmly received, at least on the outside. I expected to see a lot of JW's there and I sure did. Talk about awkward. The looks they gave me...
I'm glad I went though. I at least was able to show my true quality.

Thanks everyone!
by MrFreeze ini would like to thank all of the posters to this board.
had i not stumbled upon here, i may never have been armed with the courage and information i needed to stand up for myself and leave this religion.. i'd probably still be going to meetings, giving talks on the service meeting, public talks, going out in field service.
i might even have been guilted into going off to mts within the next year... yikes!.

Yes OTWO, I hear some criticism towards some who have posted here for years "why don't you just get over it already?" Those people haven't considered that the advice and the stories these ones continue to post helps many. If it was nothing here but new ex-JW's, I don't think this forum would do as much good. Thanks to all those people that have stuck around here! You can be happy you've at least helped to free one person.

Beck doesn't actually believe anything he says. He's a comedian. He's admitted as much himself. He's like an unfunny Colbert who people actually take seriously. I suggest ignoring him. He's nothing but a clown.

I love how it lists homosexual problems in with physical disabilities.
Does anybody have an up to date Bethel application? I wonder how it has changed.

Getting upset with children who cannot sit through the meetings.
by life is to short inok this thought came to me the other day.
i was thinking of the co who told me that he liked to see parents spank their children for not sitting still during the meetings.. i remember how hard it was to sit through two hours when i was four or five years old.
it was like forever.. i was thinking of comparing the hours that we have been alive to how long two hours is for a child.

One elder pioneer used to tell my mom "Take them out of field service before they get sick of it." In other words, don't wait until the kid starts becoming fussy and cranky to take them out of the ministry. He was so right! Except he probably didn't know that kids are sick of it about 2 minutes into field service.

by Hairyhegoat inthe wts informs its followers that they are not: "under obligation to divulge truthful information to people who are not entitled to it.

This Guy Nails It on 1975
by Perry ini was 12 years old in 1975. for years before then, i believed that i was a bad child and would not live to see my 13th birthday.
i remember that starting around january 1976, i didn't believe a word anyone said, especially an adult, my parents, much less the elders.
i do not remember much of my teen years.

I've heard JW's say "they never said 1975 would bring Armageddon. They only noted the year it was in human history." I call bull. First off, they DID claim it would be the end. Even if they didn't, they knew that members were viewing 1975 as THE year. They should have settled them down then and said "We know many are looking forward to 1975. We know Armageddon is close but we can't put dates on our service to Jehovah." But no, they played on it and used it. It bit them in the butt.
