yes I caught that. I also caught it when a brother in our hall made a comment about violent music causing people to committ murder.

Violence Training
by MrFreeze indid anybody notice the paragraph in today's study edition that pretty much said that "violent video games and movies are training people to be violent towards each other during the great tribulation".. i really had to do my best to not laugh when i read this.
i don't know if any of you watch penn & teller's show.
they did a show on violent video games and their effect.

Could you die without anyone noticing?
by AK - Jeff innot long ago i had 100 'friends' - or so i thought.
i certainly had 100 or more people who said they were friends.
then i left a cult, and found myself with very few friends - those kind in the flesh, in the community.

This hits close to home. My brothers mother (dont ask) died. it was two weeks before she was found, decomposing in a chair.
For me.. no i would be missed quickly. My dog needs someone to feed her Thats enough for me.

yep have read it. its very good. Its important to remember too that you may have more than one way you expresses your self. You may have a primary but others will work for you as well. I think anything that helps us understand who we are is valuable, especially coming out of dubbie land where we are boxed and packaged to be "one size fits all Christians".

High School Homecoming and MUMS?
by yknot inas most of you know........ i am from texas originally.. each year as homecoming rolls around schools across that state become 'frenzied' with various 'school spirit' activities ending with the wearing of mums (garters for boys) to school on friday.. i recently was talking to a 'yankee' boy and he didn't know what i was talking about (mums/garters or homecoming)......(blasphemy!)..
anywho it got me thinking...... is mums/ garters limited to texas/oklahoma?
(surely our southern cousins too have them -- right?).

Netherlands Memorial Attendance 2009/2010
by Designer Stubble ingood news!.
the dutch kingdom ministry shows the following statement:.
this year (2010) 43.372 persons attended the memorial, 100 persons took of the symbols.. the 2009 attendance figure was 51.578.. this means that 8.206 went missing in one single year, a plunge of 16%.. i get the impression that the partakes figure is going up as they now avoid the term "annointed".. .

Sept.15th WT - WT Society uses Guilt & Fear to Avoid Friendship & Internet
by flipper inonce again my wife and i were sent the " witness only " wt version by our lurking jw friend that they study at wt study meetings.
and once again wt society is showing very controlling tendencies towards it's jw members.. do any of you remember the " old days " in the 1970's or early 1980's when witnesses used to have goody night after book study ?
or you would have a " potluck picnic " with about 30 to 40 people getting to know one another to draw close as friends outside the confines of the kingdom hall ?

Wow... I have seen so many quotes in the past two months that make me say... "holy shit"! CULT ALERT CULT ALERT!!!! This is yet another one. but I tell you this. there will be JW's from new york to florida to california who will forgo get togethers to head out into the work. I was talking with a brother I had been in bethel with and we both were wondering how we ever got anything done with all the hampster wheel stuff we did. but of course thats the point. Its crazy that it took so long to see it. I promise there are going to be JW's in my own congregation cancelling gatherings and going out in service, saying "wow that was so much more refreshing than enjoying a day in the park with the kids" or " that was so much better than watching the game with the guys"... somebody get me the hell outa here...

Gotta say knot, as a "yankee" i'm completly lost on this. We have NOTHING like that, at all, in the midatlantic. What we do here is pretty much limited to floats. However I do have to say that six was a little..... hard... on what seems like a fairly inoccent tradition.
oh, I COMPLETLY agree with daddy on this one. There is no way i'm letting my daughter (6th grade) go on any date anywhere, ESPECIALLY with a 7th grader!!!! I have a feeling that my wife and daughter will have to drug me when the time arrives....

Something that's been on my mind for a while and I finally put into words.
by WontLeave inshould i turn "apostate"?.
when anyone is replying to a matter before he hears [it], that is foolishness on his part and a humiliation.

first let me just say... brevity is your friend. however I think this time I got the point that you intend to say, which is what I thought but wasnt sure. You do understand though there is one critical difference between all of these Israel/Watchtower bible and tract society comparisions... the Jews had proof (sort of) that they were his people. The society has nothing. Not one shred of evidence. critical point.
