@Xanthippe I love your eloquent words! Those do sound like wonderful things to try being alone (: and like the other commenters said, I never really thought about how it might be even harder for those who DO have wives/husbands and kids vs. those who don't...I just wish my parents weren't in this stupid cult, but what can you do

So like the title suggests, I'm going to break up with my boyfriend today. It's for several reasons, but mostly because I'm not prepared for a relationship. I need to grow and learn what it's like to be me now that I'm not a JW and learn how to love myself so I don't make the person I am with miserable.
Unfortunately, I haven't been fading well. Between adding my new "worldly" friends on Facebook (some of whom are gay) and liking and commenting on posts that I "shouldn't" (politics, gay rights, etc.) I think it's become obvious to my JW "friends" that something is up. (I should have Unfriended them but now it's too late). Also, my dad saw a book on Buddhism in my car.
So, soon it may all catch up to me and I will loose my parents and when that happens I will be entirely alone with absolutely no one in the world who cares about me deeply and that makes me very very sad
So my question to you is how do you deal with the inevitable lonliness that comes from having almost no family or anyone who loves you? I don't want a new relationship right now and I have made some new friends, but none that care for me deeply and its so scary being entirely alone. How do you cope?

Cold war on homefront!
by LifesNotOver ina few months back i let it be known to my husband that i was no longer interested in anything jw related.
when he took it to the elders, without actually divulging anything that might get me disfellowshipped like apostasy - well, he just basically told them i was all depressed and discouraged and everything and that i didn't want to be contacted by the elders about it.
i don't know what he actually told them, word for word, or what they actually said to him word for word, but he told me they told him not to do anything spiritual with me at home anymore - no bible study, praying, daily text, meetings via phone, jw broadcasting, discussions, etc.

You say that "it feels now like the only thing we had in common was our being in the org together"...but then you seem to indicate that you were married before you were baptized...So perhaps you can revisit what made you fall in love before you (presumably) became JWs. You must've had something that sparked your love that made you get baptized in the first place :) Good luck!

I don't get the logic...if you don't do what you want to do now, you will be rewarded by being able to do that very same thing later...but if and only if certain stipulations are met (despite the fact that you could very well do it now if you don't pay any mind to this logic)..huh?

Jehovah Created Animal "Kinds" - The Numbers Don't Match Up?
by LaurenM in1. the creation story taken literally: god created all "kinds".
from jw.org: what is a kind?
: the biblical “kinds” seem to constitute divisions of life-forms wherein each division allows for cross-fertility within its limits.

1. The Creation Story Taken Literally: God Created All "Kinds"
From JW.org: What is a Kind?: The Biblical “kinds” seem to constitute divisions of life-forms wherein each division allows for cross-fertility within its limits. If so, then the boundary between “kinds” is to be drawn at the point where fertilization ceases to occur...There is no support for theories maintaining that new “kinds” have been formed since the creation period.
COD.edu: The textbook definition of species is that it is a group of organisms which can interbreed and produce fertile offspring. So humans of all races are the same species, but horses and donkeys aren't. [Almost verbatim the JW definition of "Kind"..weird - and there are over a million documented species]
How Many Kinds Are There? JW answer: Whereas specific created “kinds” may number only in the hundreds, there are many more varieties of animals and plants on the earth.
What does modern science say? It is impossible to breed between different taxonomic families. How many taxonomic families are there? A biology professor would say that there are (conservatively) around 20,000 families. In fact, The Plant List alone has 642 families listed: http://www.theplantlist.org/1.1/about/#changes. That's not including Animals, Protists, Fungi, Archaebacteria, Eubacteria, which were all purportedly created by God...the number far exceeds "hundreds".

People hate God?
by looter init is a pain that certain individuals pride themselves on hating god, who created everything.
like it's understandable that you choose to not believe in him because of your selfishness or thinking skills but to hate him is forcing it a bit.
i'm very thankful that those such as myself have the courage to believe in the lord.

Yes, we should all LOVE God!!!
A God who condones mass murder...of even children (unless, of course, she's a pretty little virgin):
Deuteronomy 2:33-34 King James Version (KJV)
33 And the Lord our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:
Numbers 31:17-18New International Version (NIV)
17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man,18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.
Of course, anyone who doesn't believe in said god (namely, 4.9 BILLION people) deserves to DIE
Matt 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
10:15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
I love the idea of loving a God who kills SO many people!
gen·o·cide
noun
the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation. (or religion)
synonyms:
mass murder, mass homicide, massacre; More
Also, family does not matter to God
"Brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death." Matt 10:21
And I love that God gives us the free will to think what we want (even though he will kill us if we think in a way he doesn't want us to think).
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
But it’s so hard loving God, it’s even hard for Christians themselves not to be killed by him: Homosexuals (those "without natural affection") and their supporters (those "that have pleasure in them") are "worthy of death" - - along with gossips, boasters, and disobedient children. Romans 1:31-32
Like you, I really don't understand why anyone WOULDN'T love God! There are so many reasons I didn't even put on here!

Signs That Armageddon is "Any Day Now"
by Nevuela inmy "anointed" roommate told me a good one today.
as we were discussing psychotropic medications, she brought up a friend of hers who was recently forced off of "benzodiazepine" (there is no one drug by this name; rather, it is a specific classification of drug).
she claimed that many people are being forced off of the medication(s) due to "concerns over side effects," and that her friend is suffering from withdrawal on top of whatever symptoms the drug was previously helping to control (she didn't elaborate and i didn't feel comfortable asking, sorry).. my roommate then went on record to say (i'm paraphrasing here) "this is why armageddon has to happen very soon, because satan is using this system to make all these people suffer psychologically to drive them into the streets and go crazy.
-
LaurenM
I don't get it..so I thought Satan was trying to prove the issue of universal sovereignty and that man CAN rule themselves. Wouldn't it be counterproductive to CAUSE chaos and terrible things to happen? (but I might be remembering things wrong)

Will Jehovah...
by watson inwhen jehovah brings armageddon, will he let me live long enough to witness the deaths of my children and grand children because they didn't believe in him?
.
since i've faded and i don't promote worshiping him anymore, i am just wondering.. at least i'd know for sure what kind of god he is?.
-
LaurenM
Yes and he'll expect your love and worship after he kills them

Necessary Family Business (NFB) is now acceptable according to the weekly WT Study
by Quarterback induring the last decade i've seen so many articles, and top speakers try to downplay that nfb policy.
now, this weeks wt study mentions a positive experience of someone applying having, "contact and applying nfb with a df relative".
-
LaurenM
Note how it says that they felt like he had died (& probably treated him like he was dead) "forcing" him to come back...Its common knowledge that "absolutely necessary family business" is nothing but contacting DFd ones when there are financial problems or deaths in the family. Nothing more. I don't see anything positive in this at all. Just the same old reinforcement of the shunning policy -

So my parents shun my two other siblings because they no longer want to be JWs. The only time my Dad ever talks to me is when he's spouting JW nonsense to try to "save me". Basically, they love the concept of living forever more than they love any of their kids. Some parents give their lives for their children's. Not JWs they rather chase the vague concept of life in the new system than have any relationship with their only "non believing" children...sickening really
