Yay, right on!
i went to the kingdom hall for the very last time.
i went in the door in my guns n roses t-shirt and ripped up lucky jeans, new earrings and goatee.
i went up to the po of the congregation and told him i needed to talk to him.

Hi Dustin, Congrats! I felt a huge weight off my shoulders after I put my letter in too - it's a great feeling! When elders come around now (once a decade) I can just smile & say, 'Guess what? I'm not a JW anymore. Go away!' (with a polite smile, of course!)
i have to do a uni essay on the authenticity / historicity of the gospels, including non-canonical.
the problem is i've never read anything on this subject, so i was wondering if anyone could help?
references to scholarly works would be most appreciated!
Hi there,
I have to do a uni essay on the authenticity / historicity of the Gospels, including non-canonical. The problem is I've never read anything on this subject, so I was wondering if anyone could help? References to scholarly works would be most appreciated! Or if anyone knows the current thinking & could give me a push along I would appreciate it!!
the next american idol!.
no, just kidding.
it's a girl!
Congrats! Girls are the best!
i just wondered.
everyone seems to be slagging her off because she isn't the best thing since sliced bread in the prettiness stakes.
aren't we being a bit narrow minded here?
Welcome, watchtowerhater
I like your name , too! There's nothing like a bit of subtlety!!
our kid told me this week end that her classes at college are not challenging enough, they are filling her schedule up with projects & busy work, & that she is either going to law school, or for her degree to become a history professor at the college.
she was going for elementary education.
lawyer was what she really wanted to be in the first place.
Hey there, I'm doing history & it rocks!
my folks were raised in that depressing environment.
i, otoh, was raised as a "baby-boomer," when times were (at least in the us, though i think also in many other parts of the world) ripe with opportunity: "seek your goals, and you will achieve them!".
the wts has, however, consistently presented quite a different perspective: "the world is ending, and so put no trust in what this doomed world has to offer.".
Yep, I agree. I think lack of trust in government, or lack of awareness about how the world works, lack of opportunities, lack of educaction are BIG factors in whether someone buys the whole jw thing.
.
i don't talk about my family very much on here, but today i feel i have to, because today after all the years of pushing, finally there is a result.. thanks to life & the universe and everyone on jwd, who by simply existing have helped in a way that i don't know how to write.. today is the day my mom stopped going to meetings.. i won't go into loads of detail at this point because it's very involved, but it's done.
my dad is an elder and is still going, but my mom is out now.. thanks
Love11, your story is great - talk about karma! How would the Witnesses explain that?!
man i hate the predicament that this religion has put me in.
i love my mom so much and to hear her cry is the worst thing in the world.
it's so frustrating when she thinks that things are so bad b/c i'm dfd.
I second Willyloman! What a great story - very similar to my own with my parents. Most people can spot real love when it happens, especially when they're confronted with all the fake love in congregations / from Society.
i was just wondering the other day about the bible, in a different manner than i usually would (inspired by god).. it is like if i were a atheist, or something........ so what is the bibile?.
is it a rule book, that we must follow?
a guide we reference to enrich our lives?
Hmm, I've found it helpful to completely reject the Bible as God's word - I think only then can you step back and appreciate the minute quality of good in the Bible which keeps most Christians beholden to the 99% of bad.
