Ozzie, I agree with you but i don't think any Witnesses ever took their ties off to go to dinner after a convention. it's like the tie comes wiith the suit. maybe they were from the Gong & driving home? Hope you're feeling well! :)

What a Prat!
by ozziepost inthis evening mrs ozzie and i went to our favorite local restaurant - it's out in the outer suburbs, a lovely small thai restaurant - well, any food eaten with chopsticks is okay with us!.
anyway, we entered and there at a middle table sat a family of three - father, mother and daughter.
nothing unusual about that except, well it was the badge card that caught my eye.

Es, I am definitely hearing you. I haven't been the same since having my daughter either, she is nearly 3. I just feel rushed all the time, inside, and I think I really need to take 6 months off, but I can't really afford to ... It's like things just keep happening & I wish I had nothing to do at all!!! Keep smiling, x

I haven't walked out of a movie in a very long time...
by Elsewhere in... but today i went to see deuce bigalow: european gigolo and i have to say it was the most stupid thing i have seen in a very long time.
it was so painfully bad that i actually walked out on it.
it was a never ending series of "penis" jokes and "gay" jokes and other really really stupid gags... like the girl bigalow meets in obsessive compulsive and has 130 stupid things she does.

I walked out of Closer cos I was watching it in the movies with my mum & got very embarrassed! I watched it at home on dvd & it wasn't half as bad! Guess you can take the girl out of the dubs, but you can't take the dubs out of the girl :(

Es, I read your post yesterday & I've been thinking about it - it's growing up that's hard, responsibility, especially when you're responsible for a child as well, two marriages, a possible other child - it's a lot to think about & take on, especially in mid-20s!
As my hubby says, you've got to fill the jar with the big pebbles first, & the little pebbles will fit around them (as in priorities). Priority no. 1 - make some fun time for yourself every week, just for you - & I'll try to take that advice too!
btw, enjoy Fiji!!!

Would you go back?
by Stress Free inwhen i was an active witness it was quite noticeable that when world shattering events took place, such as a disaster, tensions between major nations, war in iraq or events like that of 9/11 the meeting attendance would drastically improve.
this was mainly due to ones whom you rarely saw flocking back because they thought armageddon was coming.
what if this almost impossible scenario occurred.

What's Your View of Spanking (Children)?
by minimus inhave you done it?
would you still?
is it ever acceptable?

I don't think there's much similarity between raising a child & owning a dog! I never ever would have dreamt of hitting my dog, but kids can be very frustrating & you can't just close the back door & ignore them! Plus kids are always top dog, that's the problem!!!

Who here gives to the homeless?
by JW83 ini'm interested in how many here give to the homeless, or any kind of charity, since that was not a part of the witness experience.
i have to admit that my heart is hard ...

Thanks for all your answers, guys!
I guess I think that if you have problems, you can access the social security system here & other charities. I think of my daughter and my family as my charity - it starts at home & we have not been in a great financial situation yet! A few bucks doesn't go very far, either.
And I really hate it when asked to make charitable donations in shops because it is such a judgment thing if you don't - but who knows that I donate to charity out of my paypacket or am struggling raising an unexpected child?!
Anyway,

I'm thinking that support for parents works better than judging them - & if anyone commenting doesn't have children, it is a very hard job that parents sometimes fail at doing the very best thing.
