growing up in the fifties and sixties, stories of demonic possession were prevalant in the watchtower and awake.
i was terrified.
we were told they would bother you if you were faithful, but also if you fell away.
i was brought up as a jw brat in the early 60's, my mom being a newly recruited fanatic who tended to blend watchtower doctrine with old wives tales.
many i night ,as a kid, i had nightmares about the demons---talk about child abuse---
--years later, i heard my rutherturdite mother- in -law filling my own kids heads with demon crap--what sick filth is that?
you want to beleive in the demons--go right ahead
you want a normal life-----what more need be said.
yes i may have to go back to a KH once more.
i realistically expect to outlive my dear old jw dad, i know he wants a KH type funeral, so i will attend just for that.
then hopefully i can finally draw a line under 50+ years of unwanted involvement with that madness.
can't doubt the dedication of most witnesses.. .
attending 5 meetings a week; doing 10 hours of fieldservice (door-to-door) each month; working hard for the reward of eternal life on paradise earth; willingness to shun their best friends and family members if these individuals are disfellowshipped from the organization; denying their young children blood transfusions even if it might save their lives; deciding not do any independant thinking apart from their religion; willingness to change their beliefs every time their anointed leaders change their minds on doctrinal matters....the list goes on and on.. .
yes, it's amazing what people without the indwelling holy spirit will dedicate themselves to do.. .
& to think we were all in it once---what on earth were we thinking of--
but for you poor sods still dithering in it---may your choice of god help you--

has anyone else, after leaving the restrictive rules of the jw world, tried having an open marriage, joining the 'lifestyle' of the swinger comunity?
we've been doing that for about 4-5 months now and it's been an interesting experience, in fact it's been a major distraction from the hell of rebuilding our lives outside the religion and our base of friends.

i wanted to try wife-swapping once, & replied to an advert.
the other guy was offering his old wheelbarrow in exchange for a date with my wife--
--only problem the wheel was missing. i thought about it for a while, then reluctantly agreed to the swap.
a meeting was arranged; the other guy turned up, took one look at my wife---& decided to keep his wheel-less barrow!
aah well--such is life!

maybe they feel the more they bring it up and make light of it, the more of a non-issue it will become..

), they gossip about who has been doing it with who when someone has fallen into the trap of the 'sins of the flesh.'.
ive been totally out of that mad religion for 30+ years, yet i'm delighted to say:

for those in the uk, what was it like to engage in the door-to-door ministry?
i watched the video below, today, and the author states that pushing your religion on others in the uk is considered crass.
further, he says that religion is a very private matter.
also i would imagine its f***ing cold at this time of year: i should know, i live here.
