I read her bio while I was still deciding if JW's were really 'The truth.' I contribute reading her biography with helping me with my exit.

Another day, another apostate. Here's my story.
by I Want to Believe inbeen lurking for a bit, and feel safe enough now to tell my story (condensed).. i'm a third-generation born-in, but my parents were inactive for most of my upbringing.
this means i got the worst of both worlds--no worldly friends (home schooled all but grades 2-3), no witness friends (since we never went to the hall except for memorial), and a generally isolated upbringing in a tiny, tiny town.
needless to say, my emotional, social, and personal growth were stunted.

Welcome I want to believe, glad to meet you. I too, grew up living a sheltered life. Glad to share in your experience.

My 18-yr old college freshman nephew has just been cut off for leaving the JWs...
by Alfred ini spoke about him in a previous thread... he's the nicest kid you'll ever meet... smart, humble, shows respect and is very kind to everyone around him... except for one minor thing... you guessed it... he no longer believes in the jw religion.
also, he feels it is simply a place for hopeless people to gather and give each other moral support without actually doing anything productive to better their lives... i won't get into the details on how he arrived at this conclusion... suffice to say, he did not want to be a part of this crowd any longer.. incredibly, when he was a lot younger, he was able to convince his jw father (a po) and his jw mother (my sister) that they should let him go to college when he turns 18 (and help him pay for it!!!).
so they started putting some money away and my nephew has been in college since september!.

Sorry about your nephew's situation.
I've said before, and I will say it again-young people in this religion are GOING TO WAKE UP!!! This generation (people born after 1990) are NOT standing for what this religion stands for. I was born in 1983, so I can only hope that people that were born around the time I was born will wake up too. Not that I'm too much older then your nephew but I can only hope so. I've tried talking to my JW's cousins; I can only hope that they will listen.

I am now officially an Ex-JW!!!!
by Momma-Tossed-Me ini am now officially by being announced at congregation level that i am no longer one of jehovahs wihtnesses.
that news spread like wild fire and i was dropped by all jw's on facebook, which shows the level of control the borg has in this area.
what is interesting is there was no juducial committee.

Evil Spirits
by LizLA indoes anyone on this forum have knowledge about casting out demons or evil spirits?
there's at least two of them that have been harrasing me even before i was a jw.
i recently attended a deliverance church to find some help but it was apparent that the holy spirit was missing from that church.

I'm sorry for what you are going through but I just do not believe in evil spirits.
I would say try talking to a psycologist or what type of food are you eating?

I still miss Teena Marie...
by serenitynow! init was 1 year ago today that she died, way too soon.
she was a great singer and songwriter and i was lucky enough to see her in concert twice.
unlike these no talent hacks out nowadays, she really could sing, write, and play instruments.

LOL at this whole thread. (@ Miz and aguest)
I miss Teena Maire too. Very talented and underrated singer and songwriter and musician...and had a lot of soul.
I know a lot of people put emphasis on the fact that she was a white woman who sung soul music, but I just
liked her cause she was a damn good singer and knew how to bring it!!! I only hope that her daugher will be able to
carry on.
RIP Teena

Ziddina: I guess I just wanted to know what the title of the book was.
The book really caught my eye when I was a kid.
