If God provides Thomas more evidence than me, it would not be righteous for him to allow Thomas to live and at the same time murder me at Armageddon. So I think if God wants me to believe he exists and that he is righteous, he should send Jesus over to me for my own personal revelation just like he did for Thomas.

For non-believers: What evidence would it take for you to believe in 'god'?
by jay88 init all comes down to evidence (but funny how we tend not to accept the evidence that indicates that what be actually believe to be true might be wrong).. this is a statement made by nick in previous thread of his.. >>>>>>>>>>.
if the ot 'god' reappeared today, would that be evidence of 'god'?.

Finding JHWH written on every cell nucleus in every living being on earth.
Or having Jesus standing in front of me with holes in his hands and his side, and me putting my finger through the holes.
Either one would do.

Perusing the free Watchtower i got yesterday
by AuntBee ini said i had no cash on me, i wasn't lying.. in the article (3-1-11) entitled what is god's kingdom, there is a paragraph about christendom's confusing explanation of what the kingdom of god is.
the last 'confusing' explanation listed says, "the kingdom of god is righteousness and peace and joy from the holy spirit" as quoted from the catholic catechism.
it sounded familiar, and i found it in romans 14:17, "for the kingdom of god is not meat and drink; but righteousness, peace and joy in the holy ghost.

Of course it is one of their doctrines that the bible is confusing, why else would they need to print several rainforests worth of books and magazines to explain it?

AuntBee, you could also ask that lady if the organization was like a 5-year old child playing in the dirt, why did Jesus chose a toddler to represent him on earth in 1919?

"Has the writing always been this bad?" -- A Channel C Contributor Hits The Nail On The Head
by Room 215 inthis from channel c..... .
"a nice older lady dropped off a couple of magazines the other day.
i hadnt read wt material recently, so decided to have a quick read of the march 1/11 wt, the good news of the kingdom what is it?.

If the writer of the article had any common sense, they would stop somewhere in the process of writing it, say to themselves "This is all bullshit", pack up their belongings and leave Bethel. So no, you just can't expect high quality articles to come from the WTS.

No Part of The World Circuit Assembly Highlights
by DavinciCodeBreaker inwell this past weekend was pretty much as predicted, the demonstrations were probably the worst i have ever seen.
you know the ones i mentioned on a post last week where in the middle the participant has a sudden epiphany!
here is a sampling of just a few.. .

Although the so-called epiphanies may seem harmless and even ridiculous, they are actually a dangerous form of mind control, known as thought-stop or crimestop (1984). It is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy, but used for the 'evil' goals of the WTS to exercise absolute control over their subject's behavior.
You train your mind to identify a train of thought or behavior, like enjoying yourself after a week of hard work, and then insert a different thought or behavior instead. If you do it often enough it will become automatic, a form of conditioning.
So even though it may seem harmless and even naive, it's not. It's a dangerous brainwashing technique.

Anyone With Major Judicial/Service Department Experience?
by A question inis there anyone on the board with a large amount of experience with judicial matters or (preferably) with the service department of the society or perhaps even worked on the service department?
if so, i would appreciate the answers to at least some of the following questions:.
does the society ever take the initiative to remove elders, and if so, how do they do it?
-
the-illuminator81
When an entire body is removed it is because they all knew of the wrongdoing and didn't inform Bethel or the CO about it. I've seen it happen because they rescheduled the tuesday evening meeting for a soccer match. Sometimes the whistleblowers can stay, if there are any. It can take years for the congregation to recover.

Why was the type/antitype understanding of the Olive Tree thrown out? (May 15, 2011 Watchtower)
by pirata inin the may 15, 2011, pg.
23 public edition watchtower, in the article 'o the depth of god's wisdom', there is a small footnote that essentially does away with an entire 1983 study article worth of material regarding the meaning of the olive tree, spoken about by the apostle paul:.
(romans 11:17,18 nwt) 17 however, if some of the branches were broken off but you, although being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became a sharer of the olives root of fatness, 18 do not be exulting over the branches.

Of course this gem of new light starts with the word "EVIDENTLY".
If I was in the writing department I would feel ashamed to use this word.

- Hello, I know you are currently in a bad situation, not sure wether you have water or food for the rest of the week, no adequate medical care, probably some dead relatives to mourn over and you are probably asking yourself why you are still alive and if life is worth living but here is a fairytale I would like you to believe in so a couple of geezers in brooklyn can tell you how to live your life.
- No thanks.

The blessings of being disfellowshipped
by JRK indon't get me wrong, it does suck.
but after being on ex-jw boards for years, and being df'ed for almost 10; i do see some hidden blessings.. first, you do not have to struggle with fading successfully.
you are just out; the cord has been cut.

It's also easier when you see a JW in public.. you don't have to prepare an excuse as to why you are inactive, they just run away from you so they don't catch the apostasy virus. I'm inactive for as long as they don't DF me, but I don't have any real objections to getting DF'd. Secretly I hope they DF me for something stupid, like getting caught eating a blood sausage or something like that.
