You can't even trust people in the KH nowadays... imagine how bad worldly people must be.

Oh man I love that Office Space reference.
What you need to think of when leaving the WTS:
- There is no dignified exit, no way to leave without disappointing or angering those who are still in. So don't waste time coming up with a dignified exit plan.
- There is no right time to leave, now is as good as any. Don't wait for the right time to leave, it will never come.
- Arguing with those still in does not work, only strengthens their faith, because you are an evil apostate attacking them with twisted philosophies. Instead, examine how to combat mind control cults by reading research on cults (Steve Hassan, Robert Lifton etc. etc.).
- You don't need to come up with some other religion or belief system. If you are offered a tray full of rotten apples, you won't pick the least rotten one, you would take none of the apples. Even if you do want to come up with something else, don't hurry. It could take years before you find something you feel comfortable with.
- You can do whatever you want to do, they longer hold any power over you, don't worry about anything JWs may think of your actions. You don't have to explain. Simply tell them the truth. You do things because you want to, and you don't do things because you don't feel like doing them. You don't have to justify your actions.
- You don't have to go to the meetings or into field service. Simply stop going. You don't have to decide wether to DA, get DF'd or go inactive. You are not playing by their rules anymore. Simply stop going.
When they say you are selfish or that you are hurting your family etc., ask them if they want you to live a lie and go to the hall even if you disagree with everything and go door to door and lie about what you really belief. Ask them if God would like people who don't believe in them to live deceitful lives, pretending to be believers. Then tell them that you've lived a lie this couple of last years and that you can't and won't continue with it.

Considering Shunning my JW Friend
by InterestedOne ini had a discussion with my jw friend during which i asked her why a rational person should believe the world is run by demons.
in response, she questioned the existence of objective rationality.
she said that we should "agree to disagree.

I shun all JWs, except direct family. I don't want anything to do with that toxic cult anymore. Any discussion with any of them is simply an exercise in WTS excuse parroting. It will only strengthen their belief, because repeating the weak and lame excuses of the WTS, and having that crap coming out of their own mouth is an exercise in brainwashing, just like singing the kingdom melodies or commenting (i.e. repeating parts of the paragraph) during the WT study.
Because of this trained response and because the WTS is painting us apostates as using devil words and attacking the rank and file head on, by trying to argue with them directly you will demonize the arguments you are using so they will no longer think about those arguments, because when they come from your mouth they are evil, and you will fulfill the view that the WTS sketches of apostates. So it is totally counterproductive. Instead, behave not like the apostate that the literature describes, but be a happy one, be reluctant to speak about WTS doctrine and instead show them that you can lead a happy and fulfilling life outside of the WTS. Then when they are ready to speak to you again, try to make them aware of the brainwashing practices going on in other cults. Make them cult-aware. And finally, draw the parallels between other cults and the WTS. Then they might get an epiphany and will no longer ignore their own doubts. Doubts they all have, and doubts we don't even need to introduce.

"this system is in such a financial crisis now! You can see the time is ripe for the end to come!"
by highdose inso said a jw to me recently.

1)never before in the history of the world has there been another financial crisis like this!.

@Mary: The funny thing is that if they don't agree to it, you can say "So you're not all that convinced it will happen soon?" and if they do agree, you get a free car/house.

Try to pin them down to a date and then hold them to it.
"So you think it's near? How near? Do you think it will happen within 2 years?"
"Are you sure?"
"So you think it will certainly happen before June 2013?"
"Ok, so let's say June 2013 comes around and there is no Armageddon, can I get the keys to your car?"

How should I respond to a JW friend? (Australia)
by summerinvincible insorry if this isn't the right place to post this - brand new member here.. i recently caught up with an old friend who is a jw.
she's been witnessing to me, and i've accepted all her handouts because i don't want to hurt her feelings.
but now she's asking me for my "thoughts" about what i've read so far.
-
the-illuminator81
If you go for full attack mode, she will cry "Apostate!" and run away from you. At best you can lure her into a discussion where she will repeat the lame excuses the literature provides.
Tell her that you get a cultish vibe from the handouts.. and try to draw parallels with other cults. Or highlight the parts where certain cultish control is exerted. Like run away from the evil world, worldly people are evil, only we can save you (environmental control, fear) etc. etc.

just created a site www.jwfacts.com
by jwfacts ini just put together a site that tries to logically show the witnesses are not the true religion.
just wondering how to get the information out to people that most need it.
also any ideas on how to get the site found by search engines.

A few notes on September 15, 2011 Watchtower, fresh off the presses!
by sd-7 inseptember 15th, 2011 watchtower, page 28, paragraph 13:.
"if a human overseer in god's organization provides you with instructions that seem extremely detailed, you might at times feel frustrated.
jehovah, however, is a perfect overseer who delegates generously and trusts his servants.

sd-7, stop reading that crap!
If there was an actual righteous God giving me detailed instructions for good reasons, I might listen. Especially if it's stuff like "Hold your staff high so I can drown all the Egyptians before they kill you." Because I'd rather not be killed by angry Egyptians. But God is not the same as a human overseer. And this overseer-dude is giving me detailed instructions on stuff God didn't even bother mentioning in the bible.
The so-called new light often changes a few years later. So why even bother trying to understand? Just wait a few years and maybe the 'current bible truth' will be the same as your own beliefs.
What the WTS actually wants is you reading the bible as a treadmill activity, giving up trying to actually understand what it says and just answering everything with the weak excuses and explanations you are taught in the literature.

I loved the last request, wouldn't that be fantastic? And I also loved the part about asking his wife or children why she was DF'd.. so true.
