A catholic kid says to a jaydub kid, "My priest is so smart, I bet he knows way more than your elder does."
The jaydub kid answers, "Of course he does. You tell him everything."

i was wondering if there are any comprehensive timelines available, jw or otherwise?
i am looking for a diagram that lists the biblical characters and events and the years they were born/died and occurred - all in a summary type format.. .
There's one in the appendices of my old reference bible, but it's only JW history, not actual scientific history-history.
If you want a reliable, neutral timeline of characters in the bible, you might check out the Net Bible website here: http://bible.org/netbible/index.htm -- I've sometimes found some good objective resources on there that don't cater to any one denomination.
it is wise for a first time writer to write about what he knows, so i will write about my lifetime as a jehovah's witness.
but it will likely be less autobiographical and more about the sub-level markers that eventually pointed me out of the cult, doctrinal matters that bothered me under the surface, and the very real lack of love in that organization.. ideas?
thoughts?
Yes, write it!
Don't worry about format. Just sit down and write the thing, worry about formats later. Best of luck.
memorial is here, and it is the perfect time for me to make my big announcement.
i want this community to be the first to know.. i have finished writing my novel!
angels and women is the story of judge rutherford and the early history of the watchtower.
Thanks!
@Expanded, thanks for taking a look at the website. I'm still working out some kinks.
@Juan -- I can't seem to find my PMs on this forum, but I'd be glad to have some help from an expert. Please email me: michael dot vegas dot mussman at gmail.

For everyone on Jehovahs-Witness.net:
Memorial is here, and it is the perfect time for me to make my big announcement. I want this community to be the first to know.
I have finished writing my novel! Angels and Women is the story of Judge Rutherford and the early history of the Watchtower. I have launched a website: michaelmussman.com, where you can download two chapters in PDF format. Please take a look and let me know what you think.
The title Angels and Women I borrowed from a very old book that was a favorite of Rutherford’s. Many of you will recognize the characters and events I portray, like Bonnie Boyd, William P. Heath, and the riot at Madison Square Garden. But this is a work of fiction, and you’ll see it is my own interpretation.
Please excuse the shameless self-promotion, but you can’t imagine how excited I feel about this big accomplishment. Writing an 86,000 word novel was an absolute labor of love. I couldn’t do this alone. I have to acknowledge two special people who helped. The first is Leonard Chretien, a fellow San Diegan who pointed me toward Beth Sarim and Beth Shan. And the second goes by Blondie – her in-depth research and detective work have exposed so much hidden history. Thank you both!
Whether you’re disfellowshipped, inactive, fading, or doubting, I want my work to move and inspire you in some small way.
ALso, now that the manuscript is finished, I’m seeking representation. If you are an agent or editor, or know someone who is, then I would love to talk to you. Write to me: michael dot vegas dot mussman at gmail – thank you!
so i ran across this statement today in doing some research:.
take, for instance, the stories and legends regarding the origin of man.
although details vary, the belief that man was made from the dust of the earth is widespread.
@MrMonroe:
I'm not familiar with the Gandhi quote -- for those of us who haven't heard, can you fill us in?
i ask because i've been posting at jwd/jwn for 10 years now.
i was a rapidly fading jw when i started but still considered myself a christian for a good few years more.
now i've embraced reason and rejected faith i'm a very happy atheist and enjoy learning more about the fact of evolution.. what about you?.
Big changes, but it took a long time. My DFing feels like forever ago.
Since I got outed from the WT, I have:
-- Converted to Judaism
-- Discovered Spinoza
-- Re-converted back to agnosticism and reason
-- Earned a Master's degree
-- Gotten legally married (in five states and DC) to a fabulous man
-- Forgiven the three old men who DF'd me
-- Reunited by once-broken JW family
-- Told my Dad (who is still an elder) that he's my hero and I love him no matter what he believes
-- Gave my Dad a new lease on life
-- Lived in Spain
-- and written a historical novel about Rutherford and his wives (coming soon!)
So yeah, I guess you could say some things have changed.
calling all research geeks, please help if you can.. .
in doing some research on joseph rutherford, a couple weeks ago i came across an interview he gave to a missouri newspaper talking about his upcoming theocratic convention in st. louis in august 1941. the newspaper may have been the globe-democrat.
i remember it had a black-and-white portrait photo of rutherford, and the caption said 'this is their leader.

I read this interview in pdf format on the internet, and I suspect I may have found it on jwfacts.com.
Unfortunately, I failed to save the location, and now I can't find it. Do you have it, or know where I can find it?
Any help you can offer I would greatly appreciate. Thank you so much!
i am seeking information, not an exegesis or an eisegesis.. .
"somewhere", i came across a statement identifying the person/group that first interpreted the 70 "sevens" of daniel 9 as identifying the year of jesus' appearance as the "messiah".. .
try as i might, i cannot relocate that information, so i am hoping someone can point me to authoritative sources that identify the person/group who first provided that interpretation, and hopefully the contemporary context.. .
Hi Leolaia,
I've been trying to contact you. Did you get my PM ?
i'm really curious how many of those df'd have ever received a yearly visit........ .
I was DF'd in '98. I'm about sure they all forgot about me, at least the ones still alive. Recently I learned that one brother on my tribunal killed himself. And then more recently, another elder who DF'd me had his son (a Ministerial Servant) commit suicide. The third, still-surviving one was the craziest of them all and was certainly happy to get this gay boy out of his kingdom hall, especially after I called him a Nimrod.
Then I moved away.
So no, I don't expect a visit anytime soon. Though los testigos del congregacion espagnol do wander by occassionally, and I wish they'd stop at my house.
