in my anger as an ex witness about 4 years ago i really wished that this would happen.
although the glaring errors, hypocrisy & downright badness of the wts was finally evident to me personally, others whom i had expeced to eventually leave the org have not.. i think it dawned on me around 1 or 2 years ago that my wife will never leave the witnesses.
having presented in both heated & reasonable debate every kind of logical argument against the religions teachings the conversations would get to the point where she would simply refuse to answer my questions.
IMO, it took them 130 yrs to get where they are now and it'll take at least another century for them to fade away. There will be no catastrophic collapse. I have to repeat PT Barnum's quote about there being 'a sucker born every minute'. As long as religion exists, cults will too...

or they'll say instead of jehovah's witnesses, "hovies"....etc.. do you think that it's appropriate?.
I profoundly agree with CoCo as well. I feel deeply uncomfortable about it. It's one thing to disagree with another person's beliefs but it's crossing a line when you make an outright mockery of them. Making fun of the JW's god is basically a declaration of war on them and I will not waste my time and energies on that. I spent enough time and energy on the JW's already...

omg i got up and tripped over some cases i had on the floor.
i landed on my forehead, left knee and left fist.. my glasses moved up and dug into my forehead so i have some pretty interesting marks there.. i have a doctor who lives two doors down from me and he came over and checked me out.. i didn't lose consciousness or have other signs of concussion.
no broken bones.. but i am sore all over.. my doctor friend said if i have any problems to call him.
Sorry to hear about that Lady Lee.
I hope you're okay for real. Watch yourself for the next little while. You might have sustained hidden injuries you might not have noticed then and there that could show up later. Take care. (from one canuck to another)

i'm so glad i happened to stumble across this website cause i really need to express what i've been holding inside for quite some time.
i'm 27 and was born and raised in the "truth".
i'm married and my husband was also raised as a jw, been married for almost 7 years and have two kids who have just started kindergarten and preschool.

I know what it's like to have known little else but 'The Lie' all my life. (It's not the truth, is it?) I didn't have the good fortune of having other JW kids in my class so I was pretty much all alone. I had very few friends on the inside growing up, but now I realize ones on the inside were never friends at all.
The thought that I was being told what to believe and not being allowed to question it always lurked in the back of my mind too. Even though you lost your childhood, I'm glad you're not going to steal it from your own children. All we can do is keep moving forward. Nice to meet you.

somewhere out there is a poll to prove anything, there is an article to back up everything and there is a quote to justify all things .... and above all, there is always a scripture in the bible that can prove faith in odd things.. basically, if you have to use other people's words to say something ... you stopped thinking for yourself and basically you are ruining everything good about what life can really teach you.. of course, i am sure a poll will prove me wrong, an article with highlight my mistakes, and a quote will make fun of my thinking.
oh, and of course, a scripture will show me how evil my thinking really is.. but i will see it all for what it really is, nothing!.

back in my early 20's, i had a pair of comfy old jeans that started to tear in about 3 places on the leg.
it was the fashion at the time so not only did they feel great to wear, they also looked 'in', not that i cared for that, but it was a bonus .

I once signed on to a certain website for JW's and I made the mistake of posting my picture on the profile. A couple of weeks later an elder pulls me aside and says that it was brought to his attention that I was on there and that I had to remove my profile or I'd be removed from congregational priveleges. WTF? Why the hell would someone be lurking there and then feel the need to rat me out? Didn't it occur to them that they'd be incriminating themselves? (Forgive me father for I have sinned?) Maybe it was that elder who was lurking around himself. *harumph*

i do not want to hang out with witnesses anymore (besides my family and one friend).
Yes, I do it to the "friends" in my former congo and others. The way I see it, they were 'pretend friends', not real at all. You all know what I'm talking about. Their so-called love was as phony as a $3.00 bill and I never should have believed it. There probably are ones on the inside who still care about me and I regret having to hurt these ones but as long as they stay inside the borg, I'll have nothing to talk about with them. My door will be open to any that leave and are determined to never go back. (One of the prerequisites to proving that to me would be for them to sign up here. )
I will never turn my back on my family, even if they would do that to me some day; I just hope the hell that never happens. (Seems almost inevitable though. )
