  Are atheists less imaginative about the unknown?

  almost every atheist i have ever come across i can get along with well.

  i love to debate and talk about the world around us and they seem to as well, but i feel like i get a lot of "eye rolls" from the atheists i speak to.. it's ironic that i am six feet six inches tall because i would describe myself as a man with his head in the clouds.

  it's up there most of the time and i feel at home when thinking of the future.

  I'm totally with you there, Sab.

  Never mind trying to speak with them of the possible existence of a supreme being/creator or the spirit world; a hardcore scientific atheist will have a hard time even speaking about the possibilities laid out in science fiction. You might as well talk to a brick wall.

  Maybe it's my ADHD that doesn't allow for a more completely rational/logical frame of mind but I enjoy my own types of creativity and free thinking. OTOH, I strive to avoid the traps of religious mumbo jumbo or wild conspiracy theory.

  Hi Libelle! I missed ya.

  So, it just didn't work out, huh? I suppose there really is only so much insanity a person can bear. It's unfortunate that he didn't have the good sense to accept things between you two for what they are and just shut up about it. Really, JWs don't believe in "live and let live", do they? Even though you're moving on and ridding yourself of a situation that has caused so much stress and negativity, the separation is going to be painful nonetheless. Knowing your story and a few others about dating (and marrying) inactive JWs, it definitely makes me think twice about pursuing a relationship with one myself.

  I guess the lesson for us all is: if you want to date an inactive or DF'd JW, it's important to find out if they're determined NEVER to go back. If the inactive or DF'd JW in question waffles on whether there's an outside chance of them "returning to the vomit", it's best to drop them like a hot rock! I myself am NEVER going back.

  Again, I'm so sorry this didn't work out. Hang in there and thanks for letting us know what's going on.

  I won't name names, but there is another poster here (she hasn't been around for a while) who's still on the inside and fancies herself as a mole/spy/double agent. She goes by the slogan... umm... what is it?... umm... "embrace the hypocrisy"? (I think?) That kind of game does things to your mind IMHO. After being here for a while and figuring out, post by post from her, what situation she's in and where she's at, I eventually started to question her sanity.

  Playing the double agent game just isn't good. As poopsie said, it's better to walk away with your integrity and your sanity intact. For your own sake, don't play the game. Be good to yourself, hun...

  it's been a year and a bit since i first joined jwn.

  the guilty fascination, turned anger, turned sadness, turned acceptance has been a journey that i'm honored all of you have have been a pat of, whether you realize it or not.

  although i haven't said much about myself personally, and probably won't as long as i still am a captive... er i mean a member of jehovah's witnesses, i appreciated reading all your posts, observations, stories and reality-checks.
