san diego (cns) - a fire broke out at a church in university heights friday for the second time in 10 days, and arson was suspected, authorities said.. the non-injury fire at kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses in the 2000 block of adams avenue was reported at midnight, according to a san diego fire-rescue dispatcher.

it took firefighters about 15 minutes to knock down the blaze.. a fire was intentionally set at the same structure around 11:55 p.m. dec. 20 by one or more burglars attempting to destroy evidence of a break-in, sd fire-rescue spokesman maurice luque said last week.. damage from last week's fire was estimated at $50,000 to the building and $25,000 to its contents.

i think my boyfriend just dumped for jw.

he is an inactive jw, he was the the one who started tp pursue the relationship and now he kind of shunning me.

i don't why, maybe because he sensed that i am trying to tell him a lot about the true jesus and because he felt like he can't convert me, but that's okay, i understand.

Thanks for the graphs jwfacts. If the WTBTS was a business it should be bankrupt in a few years. Another reason why congregations may be increasing in size is that the WTBTS may be transitioning into a property holding company. As donations decrease, new sources of income will need to be found. A simple way to generate cash flow is to sell KH's and combine congregations in high density urban areas where property values are higher.

Suggestion: Create an "Empowering JWs" Forum

before everyone gets the wrong idea about creating an "empowering jws" forum, this forum would be for serious campaigners to exchange ideas about helping jws by either influencing the wtbts to change or planting seeds of doubt in jws, and would not be for promoting the wtbts nor its policies.. since jwn threads have gotten so numerous and effectively using jwn's search engine is a mystery to me, i believe that creating a forum for posting ideas to awaken jws would benefit both jws and exjws, who want to do more than debate religion and relate how they were abused by the wtbts/jws, and who want to help awaken loved ones.

i feel that the forum should be named "empowering jws" to paraphrase steven hassan's book "releasing the bonds: empowering people to think for themselves" and because i do not want to alienate jws with doubts be calling it something derogatory that may raise a jw's persecution phobias.. also, jwn might appear more welcoming to jws, if there was a recommendation that posters refrain from labeling jws jdubs, borg, witlesses, etc.

i know that many members of this forum were hurt by the policies of the wtbts and that some jws were jerks to them, but that does not mean that all jws are jerks.. peace be with you and everyone, who you love,.

Hmmm. After reading some members' posts, may be I need to clarify what I wrote. My suggestion was to create a forum (sub-forum or folder) possibly beneath the Jehovah's Witnesses forum (sub-forum or folder). It was not to create a different website.

As far as my suggestion for creating a recommendation, I was not suggesting to create a rule just raise members' awareness about being polite to JWs. I do not believe that I suggested being nice to the Watchtower so Outlaw enjoy calling the WTBTS "Watchtarded".

this is a sugestion i have to all members of this board ,members from all over the world, to let the victorian government in australia know that the world is concerned about protecting the children of victoria ,and theirby setting a precedent for the rest of the world, who are interested in the outcome of the criminal charges against the religion of jehovah`s witnesses in refusing to abide by the legislation to get "working with children checks"when required to do so.correct me if i`m wrong but i think if all of us sent letters to the newspapers here in australia ,the different members of parliment here,we would demonstate that the victorian judicial system here is under scrutiny to do the right thing in the eyes of the world.. we all complain that the wtb&ts/jehovahs witnesses is a cult religion that sucks,destroying family relationships,here is a chance to do something about it.

whether you agree with steven unthank or not,here is an opportunity to stick up for the children of jehovah`s witnesses and every other child that a witness calls on in their door to door ministry.. what do you think ?.

Hi Roski thanks for the information about John-Paul Langbroek and what would you recommend? After doing a quick internet search, I do not feel that there would be any positive benefit to helping Steven Unthank's cases by contacting Mr Langroek, because Mr Langroek is in the Queensland legislative Assembly and not the Victoria's and because he has not clearly rejected the WTBTS.

I know of a former JW who does not believe that the Bible is the word of God, but does believe that the WTBTS has the correct interpretations if it was. I do not bother saying anything negative about the WTBTS to this former JW, because I feel that he is still indoctrinated in WTBTS teachings. It seems that only sexual drive can overcome thought control, at least in the case of this former JW.

What are the best Bible Translations?

growing up in a jw family, my parents and my grandparents had many versions of the bible...not just the new world translation.

sometimes i read these.

but i always bought the hype that the new world translation was the most unbiased and most consistent in rendering hebrew and greek into the modern language.

Hi Londo111. I would recommend prayer. No matter which Bible that you read, it will be difficult to intrepret what was meant 1900+ years ago without some sort of understanding of the times, idioms, etc. A study bible, which presents both the Biblical text and Biblical scholar's opinions, may help you gain better understanding.

The following is an email that I wrote to John Champion SC <[email protected]>, who is the Director of Public Prosecutions in Victoria.

Dear John Champion SC, Victoria's Director of Public Prosecutions:
Thank you and the staff of the of the Office of Public Prosecutions of Victoria for assisting Steven Unthank to criminally prosecute leaders and organizations of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society (WB&TS) in the administrative hearings in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court of Victoria in Gippsland, Australia (i.e., case ID’s B12083108, B12083367, B12083527, B12083833, B12082206).

I hope that the Public Prosecutors Office of Victoria will use its full resources to prosecute the WB&TS leadership and organizations to the maximum extent of Victorian child protection laws.

Although I am not an Australian, many members of Jehovah Witnesses (JWs) Internet support forums, such as www.jehovahs-witness.net and www.jwsupportforum.com, are very interested in the outcome of Steven Unthank’s criminal cases against the WB&TS.

From my personal experience of being exposed to the WB&TS’s doctrines and practices, I hope that the prosecution of the aforementioned cases will educate more politicians and government officials about the societal costs of dangerous cults like the WB&TS. The WB&TS is a dangerous cult that enslaves members to print and/or distribute literature and is not a religion, as promoted in WB&TS's literature. I also hope that Steven Unthank’s cases will inspire co-operation between prosecutors and politicians to revise (or create) laws to strengthen compliance with child protection laws in Victoria.

Thanks again for supporting Steven Unthank’s efforts to protect JW children in Victoria.

More of my story, and need advice

i've given part of my story under my previous user name sahara but i need some advice and so i need to give more detail.

just a refresher, my wife was baptised 4 years ago and mil and fil have been jw's for 40 years, i've never been a jw but am a christian.

about 18 years ago, just 2 years after my wife and i married my wife announced that she wanted to start studying with the jw's.
