Oh My God!!

yesterday after an awesome workout at the gym i was walking to the front door and i saw my former friend who is a "spiritually strong" (non-thinking) jw walking towards me talking with a trainer.

i thought she was either there on a job interview or was taking a tour of the facilities before joining.. i thought should i say hi, should i say nothing, would she acknowledge me, etc.

i decided to say hi to make sure that she remembered that i am a member of this gym, so that she would not feel uncomfortable it she accepted a job there or joined it.. the gym is about 20 miles from where she lived when i was friends with her, but is in a convenient location between where she was living and where she works.. i said "hi n" about five feet before me, no response.. i said "hi n" a little louder about five feet after they passed me.

@ Honesty - Although my former friend tried very hard to encourage me to be a JW, I was never a JW. Too many red flags (e.g., like cherry-picking scriptures and my former friend being afraid to socialize with elders) made me do more independent research.

@ yadda yadda 2 - After reading Steve Hassan's CCMC, he nailed every trait of my former friend such as having a cult persona and an authentic persona. Reading Steve Hassan's CCMC, made it easier for me to be more forgiving of how JWs behave. The WTBTS's BITE control is a b_tch. My friend's authentic persona is very fun loving, care-free, and giving. By the way she did not say "Oh my God", she shouted it very loud where everyone in the gym could hear it.

I shouted "Hi N" about 15 feet after they passed me, and the trainer turned around and said did I want to speak with her. I said no I just wanted to say hi. She said, "Oh my God!!" I said "Hi N" and turned around and walked out of the gym. It was weird how the trainer was more polite than my former friend.

I hope that she doesn't join my gym or accept employment there, because she still looks very beautiful to me.

Thoughts After Saturday Morning Service

went out with a good friend in service this morning.

my spouse and kiddos joined us.

me and my spouse are awake jws, have gotten over the initial shock and disgust with some of the lame wt doctrine, and are determined to let god direct us wherever he may (even to another church - i'm going to a baptist service tommorow).. we have fun doing a little bit of service with the kiddos, letting them watch deer, play with sticks, and write not-at-homes down.

lambsbottom - Anyway, was just thinking how many awake JWs there are. I think we would be surprised at how many there are. A lot of JWs my age (around 30s) know whats up. Just my opinion, but I think that the generation behind me is going to buck the JW system so hard, there won't be any of them in the KHs.

Hi lambsbottom, If all awake JWs would stop donating money to the WTBTS, buying WTBTS materials, funding KH building/remodel projects, staying at WTBTS recommended hotels, teaching their children how to critically think for themselves, and really study the Bible instead of indoctrinate non-JWs with WTBTS's BITE control, the WTBTS would be bankrupt before the children of JWs now would grow up to be adults. Just my humble opinion.

Should I allow my mom to see the grandchildren?

so i am not officially da/do yet and my family has shunned me hard.

today crying my mother calls me to beg to see my children... should i let her?

i feel that if you can speak abusive of your own son and wife and shun the.

Hi confusedandalone, Your children, your rules!! DITTO what most posters have recommended that your mother and dad can see your family anytime that it is convenvient, as long as they leave all things WTBTS at their house.

They should not be allowed to visit with only your children until they stop shunning you and they can demonstrate that they will not teach your children any WTBTS doctrines.

Elder and CO just dropped by....

i haven't been to a meeting in over a year, and as you know as soon as you stop attending meetings/fieldservice the "conditional" love becomes more apperant.

the coordinating elder starts off by saying how much he loves and misses me, etc.

i ask him, when was the last time you called or texted me?

Reading exJW then JW facebook sites can make you go crazy!

it's absolutely amazing what exactly the same event can do to the jw community and the exjw community.. the difference is that the jw community does not think and has the expected response... we think and, of course, have the exact opposite response as the jw's.. take for example the march km with the "will this be the last?

Hi ILoveTTATT, Instead of going crazy reading JW's posts on FB, go out and have some fun. Be happy that you will no longer be victimized by the WTBTS's BITE control techniques.

Have you read Mt 15:13-15? Some people might interpret it as Jesus is very uncarring. I interpret it as Jesus was being realistic. The Pharisees and Sadducees used BITE control techniques to victimize Jews, and Jesus knew that there was little that he could do to overcome that thought control in the leaders and followers. Sometimes you just gotta to let go and live your life to its fullest.

Help those who you can with your language skills by translating JWfacts' webpages to Spanish, so that you feel less crazy.

better to stay in or get out

i put in a da letter a couple of weeks ago but the elders have not opened the letter and wish to meet with me first.

i've seen the stress this has caused me and my family as well as the alienation of me from the family spiritually.

so the question is can i do more to get my kids out of this cult by staying a member going to meetings some times and planting seeds or get out and try to then get the kids out over time?

Hi Crazyguy, DO NOT play by the WTBTS's rules, because the game is rigged!!!

Find some non-JWs who you can talk about your feelings with (or vent on JWN) while you fade. Continue to plant seeds of doubt and help your JW family members to critically think for themselves. Go out and meet more non-JWs who you, your wife, and kids share common interests. Go out and have fun with your family. If you still believe in God, help your family to see how the Pharisees and Sadducees used BITE control techniques to victimize JWs and how Jesus Christ felt about them - DO NOT draw parallels to the WTBTS.

The WTBTS is the WTBTS's worst enemy, so give your family time to see the hipocrisy of the WTBTS.

Advice on children

my ex-wife got married in december last year.

so our visting arrangement with my children has changed.

there was a misunderstanding in our visiting arrangment, we agreed on that they would spend the weekends (once in two weeks) with me they would stay until sunday.

Hi Apostating, Always do something fun with your kids on the weekends that you have them so they will not want to go to meetings and help your children to critically think for themselves. If your ex-wife wants to take them to the meetings, tell your ex-wife to go to a congregation with meeting times at 4:00 PM or after.

If you want to be mean to your ex-wife, give your kids sugary treats right before they leave so that they have plenty of energy for the meetings. LOL

Avoid or call them back?

daughter missed a call from an elder tonight...we've missed meetings for about a month now.

she is dating a worldly guy and i'm sure someone has seen them together.

makes us nervous and with us being fairly new to the fading facet... should she call or avoid.

Hi Angus Beef, Why do you want to play by the WTBTS's rules? Avoid meeting with elders. Block phone calls from elders. Do not answer elder's questions.

If the elders do contact your daughter by dropping by unexpectedly, thank them for their convern, ask them to call before stopping by unannounced, and to tell all the elders that you will contact them if you need any help.

Should I meet with the elders?

so i posted my story somewhere on this board but long story short i have been expressing my doubts to my mom who is a jw.

i have been fading since december 2013 and went to a sunday meeting for the first time maybe two weeks ago.

i went only because i wanted to use the library that my hall has which had books published by the society from the early 1900's.

Hi winnie12, When in doubt it is better to ask questions than to provide answers. Let the elders do all the work, but phrase your questions with what did Jesus Christ say or do. Be prepared to have some rebuttel questions, because JWs like to take scriptures out of context or add their own WTBTS thought-stopping platitude when they start to feel cognitive dissonnance.
