Use theocratic warfare on them - deny, deny, deny. Furthermore, refuse to answer any questions. Practice reciting these responses: "I cannot recall." "I have no memory of that." "That does not seem familiar to me." "Why are you asking?" "Are you accusing me of something?" Even better, refuse to meet with them at all.

Is this the beginning of the end?
by Stealth ini have been doing the fade for about a year now from the jw religion.. today i atteneded the service of a non-denominational church and my dub ex-wife's boss was there and saw me.. so i fully expect that by tomorrow that the local gestapo elders will be aware of the fact that i was at another church.
what do you want to bet i will be getting a shepherding call next week, even though i have not seen these loving bothers in many months.
what a joke!.

Post your worst date story!
by hungry4life inwith all the nice guy/bad boy and do looks matter posts doing so well i thought it might be fun to do a worst date ever post.. so here goes mine: about 3 years ago my married friend had a neighbor she was good friends with he was a young widower with 2 kids and she thought we might like to get to know each other.
so we agreed to meet for dinner at his apt (he lived 2 apts down from my friend so it did not seem awkward or unsafe).
he cooked spaghetti and afterwards pulled out the old photo albums.

Spirits/Entities - A question for all.
by Nemesis ini would like to ask a question if i might: how do ones here view spirits?
(not the alcoholic kind) i have left the org.
now for at least 5 years, although i did go to the memorial last year, but not where i used to go to the hall; i was not df or da.. .

Wow Nemesis! You really think that the absence of god means an absence of good or evil? Do good and evil only exist if there is a reward or punishment in an afterlife?
Finally, how does god's existence provide purpose to human existence?

Anyone go to an Internatinal Convention????
by VeniceIT ini know i've posted about this in the past, but there are so many new people, and sooooo many lurkers i thought i'd bring it up again.
i went on 2 convetion tours and have to admit we had a wonderful time.
i also made some really good friends from all over that i haven't been able to keep in touch with.

Mulan - I believe that we were at the convention in Krakow. I do know that we stayed in Warsaw though. Went to the Warsaw ghetto. Bought a great deal of silver and amber. (My mom and I even played hookie from the convention one day to go shopping...hee hee)
Did you visit Auswitz and its neighbouring concentration camp? Was it Berkenov? So disturbing. It was like you could smell the death.
The Zakopani mountains were lovely though.

My JW friend and Silentlambs...
by Kaethra ini caught up with an old friend on the weekend.
she's still a loyal dub but has had terrible marriage problems in the past (they've been divorced for some time now) and feels that she has been slandered in the congregation.
she's also pretty wild for a dub...anyway, that's a discussion for another time.... over lunch, we got to talking about one of her friends (also a dub) and she mentioned that she is very promiscuous.

I'd really like to know if this announcement from the platform was just a local phenomenon. Has anyone else heard anything from their local KHs? Perhaps the "brother" on the platform in my friend's congregation has been surfing the internet and discovered his conscience?

I still have the picture of my family sitting there in the heat with our water bottles that looked like beers!

I've always believed in spirits, and I still do after leaving the jws....at least, I feel pretty certain that they exist. And no, I have no evidence to offer, other than anectodal "evidence" from persons that I trust are telling the truth. I feel differently about them now though. I always thought that it would be a terrifying experience to have contact with them, but from hearing other peoples' experiences, it doesn't seem to be terrifying in most cases at all. Most people seem to be like you in that the experiences leave them feeling quite calm.
I did always wonder about the Watchtower's explanations of ghostly activity, i.e. the ghosts were really "demons" who were only pretending to be dead people in order to trick people and make them believe in the lie of life after death. I always thought that that explanation simply did not make sense.

Yup...Poland, 1989, while it was still behind the Iron Curtain. It was a great experience. (Except for the boring convention itself...conventions were boring as it was but when you don't even understand the language and you still have to pretend that you're paying attention, it's even worse!)
Then my parents and I spent a month or so touring the rest of Europe. It was wonderful.
