Looking Glass and Limbogirl - glad you got my post! I'm terrible at getting the quote thingy to work and even worse at changing fonts to make a point. And ewwwwwww to the woman who used a pot in the pantry! wtf?? ok...wacky witness story - we used to pick up this old guy who was pretty much the weird outcast of the entire town. He studied with the witnesses for years and years...for the company, I imagine. I hated when we had to pick him up, poor thing. But he smelled bad and he was soooooo strange. He was skin and bone and whenever we had a congregation "get together" (theocratic language), he would inhale a dozen or so hotdogs...seriously...one gulp and they were gone. It's all he ever ate. yikes! And beware if you had to sit behind him at the meetings...he just let 'em rip, which was especially giggle-inducing during song and prayer. He was a kind old soul though...I feel kinda bad making fun of him, but well.... I grew up in a pretty rural area, so there was lots of weirdness at my hall...and in the surrounding "territory" (more theocratic language).

Hey Looking Glass? " How about the couple that had a 4 year old son who I was watching who would try and sneak out of the house to play in the street (by sticking up his middle finger to cars as they went by - yeah this kid was a really naughty). When I finally stuck him in a coroner "
Did you really stick him in a coroner??!! That's pretty drastic...can't blame the dad for being upset, really. ahhaha! -

Fantastic music site I just discovered! FANTASTIC!
by nicolaou injust type in a song that is typical of your tastes and the site will create a 'station' that continually plays music you should like.
fantastic to have in the background if you are surfing, even better if your pc is the heart of your music system.. it does not play requests, that isn't what it's about, although your original selection will end up in the playlist.
by the way, did i say i think this is fantastic!.

Letting go...a letter to my brother
by Brigid indear friends and fellow sojourners,.
as i posted sometime back, i have been grappling with my last fear from the wtbts--that is, saying good-bye to my mother and brother who are still in the organization by revealing that not only have i left but am now what they consider an apostate.
it has come to me, that i must do this to be finally free of the last vestiges of "hold" that the organization still has on me.

Double Edge - "Let sleeping dogs lie.... if something comes up down the road, confront it then. But as for now and in the near (or distant) future, let go of fear, be free, but hold on to family as long as you can....which, unless you overturn the apple cart could in reality last a lifetime." You kinda nailed it on the head as to why Brigid is doing this, I think. "if something comes up down the road..." Here's another metaphor - Brigid doesn't want to wait for the other shoe to drop. There is no freedom in that. garybuss - "I really don't like letters. I'm too good in person." That coming from you made me laugh! You must be beyond amazing in person, since your posts are always so delightful and wise.

This may be my last postÂ…so goodbye and thanks
by seven006 ini never thought i would do one of those infamous goodbye i cant take this board anymore posts where the person shows up again a week later and looks like an idiot.
when i had enough of this board and needed a little break i would just quietly leave for a few months and hopefully nobody noticed.
that is not the case this time.

Sad news from Maui
by Makena1 inwe went to our favorite beach, met up with some of our local friends.
we don't have much in the way of details - but heard some devasting news that ari (well known to seattle area exjw's and i am sure by many on the board) killed himself sometime over last weekend.
he was so excited about moving to maui, and starting a new life here.

That is so sad...poor man. I can't begin to imagine the guilt his daughters are going to feel if they have any heart or conscience at all.

JW ghost, demon, superstition stories
by RunningMan ini would like to write an article outlining some of the goofy stories that jws believe.
for example, when i was young, this story went around: .
a couple decided that they would miss the meeting to go to see a hypnotist.

crap like the stuff Leolaia quoted was force-fed to us even as small children...and my parents had the nerve to wonder why I was too scared to sleep in my own room until I was 12!

kitty - I had my wisdom teeth out a couple of years ago. It's fairly common for them to cause no problems but many people do have problems with them because our jaws have evolved so that wisdom teeth no longer fit properly. Few people now are able to have completely erupted wisdom teeth that allow for proper flossing and brushing to keep away those nasty bacterial infections. The other problem is what I had, which was total impaction where the teeth just have no room to come up. That caused me bad jaw, ear, and head aches. Although they didn't put me "under", it was the closest experience to it that I've ever had. I wouldn't call it fun, but it was an experience! They gave me valium. The nurse told me that the needle in my arm would first make me feel warm, then very itchy, then I'd count back from ten and shortly after that the whole thing would be over. Well...let me tell you, I did not expect what I experienced as to the itchiness. I know my eyes grew huge because when the "itchiness" started, the nurse's face grew concerned...she said it would subside in a few seconds, but no one had prepared me for the fact that the itchiness would be most intense in my most private parts. It was so bad it actually hurt! I remember more of the experience, but I don't want to bore everyone to tears. :)
