jews may not eat any blood, so all meats need to be salted and soaked in a special way to clear all blood.

Jews may not eat any blood, so all meats need to be salted and soaked in a special way to clear all blood. Why didnt the JW's take this on board too, when then are so fanatical about not taking blood transfusions? Any ideas guys?

Can BibleTHUMPING be abusive?
by sabastious inhave you ever been around someone who can't not talk about the bible and what it has to say on whatever you are talking about?.
bible thumpers can sometimes be relelentless.. i would call it a love bomb but not in the good sense.. i think devout slaves of christ could use some more discretion of who they thump on the head with a bible verse.. -sab.

As a JW I had a JW midwife to deliver my baby. I didnt know her very well and on face value she looked so fierce and cold in personality that I was afraid to talk to her.
Either way I chose to have her as my midwife, so she was on the ball with the blood issue should it ever come up (Arrrghhhh not good now I realise but thats what happened)... I soon found out that she was a lovely lady, nothing like how she appeared to be, so it was hard not to warm to her.
She is the last person I ever stereo-typed because I soon learnt from there onwards to never judge a book by its cover....

Anyone remember the stupidist of talks?
by letsslatejws ini remember a talk being devoted to use of the correct grammatical pronunciation of words.
in fact any elder or brother for that matter who didnt use the correct pronunciation was viewed as illiterate and dorky so the congregation snubbed them.... i remember the word machinations (of the devil) and the emphasis that it should be pronounced mack in nations.... another one was.
behove was meant to be pronounced 'behoooved'.

This was 'Theocratic Correctness' at its Best -
Was this a localised thing or did it happen throughout the congregations?
Changing the manner to how these words were generally spoken used to really get on my nerves....

Hmmm. Heres one that I never understood. Months into first studying with the JW's (and I was really going quite strong in such a short space of time) I seemed to have an uncanny ability to know exactly what peoples religious belief was.
For example I would look at a man/woman and just know that they were a Catholic, or say a Church of England. There was no visible evidence like a Cross or anything, but I just knew and was always accurate when I pressed them for information when preaching... At the time I just assumed it was normal, like I was personally being given divine insight, but looking back clearly it would have been considered wrong in the JW eyes and I simply have no other explanation for it. It was like I had a 6th sense....
Weird...

Dating a JW for 3 yrs
by justbreathe825 inmy bf and i are thinking on getting married.
i posted a foum early this week on whether or not i should get baptized.
i decided not to.. now even though he says he "doesn't care" he got upset last night when i mentioned the subject and how confused i was.

You need to get things straight with your b/f.
I would ask him point blank how he would feel, if you didnt get baptised and never went to another meeting again?
Depending on his response then you know you have some big decisions to make. What is more, I would also like to see how he reacts if you told him that you wish to inform his parents of your choices too.
You really need to put these questions to your future husband, otherwise whats a relationship if you simply cant be honest and straight. You need to be aware that he is happy with you what ever choices you make and he needs to be happy if his parents shun you. Not that, thats a great way to start a relationship but at least you will know where you stand.
This is your life & you need to be in your own driving seat making your own decisions....
If you husband wants to still attend the meetings then I would ditch right now. Its no relationship if you dont have a common ground. For one there are 4 / 5 meetings a week that he would be absent from home attending. Not to mention all the Hours he would be away on field ministry. You have to ask him what he forsees as the way of life for future children to...
Just these questions alone should help you decide your future. Unless he emotionally ditches them too, then this is no life for you. Get out now. It would be emotionally crippling, but you will get over him. Your young still, so there plenty of other fish in the sea.... :)
His love already seems conditional.... Not good....

If We Were to Take the Flood Account Literally..
by Yan Bibiyan inthen i cant help but come to the conclusion that everyone who died (like 99.999% of humanity at the time) was doomed from the start.. if god directed noah to build a flotation device with very specific parameters, god must have known exactly how many people, animal species, plant etc, would be in it.. what if people actually listened to noah and thousands upon thousands turned up waiting to enter the ark?
god must have known that only so many people will listen and obey instructions.. no to mention that noahs message didnt really reach that many people.
at that time how many people could have heard it?

Noah built this Ark... Id like to know how he expected all the remaining members of mankind to fit in it.... He had clearly judged them & made up his mind that nobody else other than his family of 8 would get on it. Maybe the fact that it couldnt possibly house all of the others stopped them from getting on it in the first place.... !
Just my mindless rabblings but it does make me wonder !

I seriously wouldnt give them the time of day. Exit the way you want and have nothing to do with them, regardless of what your family want you to do. You need to live your life as you see fit away from there judging eyes... I seriously wouldnt give them the benefit of turning up for the JC.
Can you explain why you feel the need to attend this JC? Expecially when it means they will just degrade you! Nobody has the right to do this to you so Im at a loss as to why you would want to put yourself through this, that is unless you feel some mad need to be humiliated by them.
You can either attend, then get reproved and then live the rest of your life beneath the radar or decide here and now that they really arent the 'truth' and that you dont want anything more to do with them... The choice is yours. Without understanding your reasons for wanting to attend I dont think we can offer you much more advice.... xx
