After leaving the JW's, why would anybody seek another religion

after such a traumatic experience in the jehovah's witness religion and reasoning on all other versions of religion, why do so many just jump ship into another religion offering the world but still delivering nothing!.

We are indoctrinated from infancy to believe the only way to be spiritual - especially to be Christian - is to belong to a religion and adopt all of its beliefs. Truth isn't a building or a group. Truth doesn't change unless the reality changes or "get brighter" to match human understanding. Despite how many times a "generation" might change to a JW, when Jesus said it, he only meant one thing. Despite how many times Catholicism>Protestantism>modern Fundamentalism has changed understanding, the truth was always the same.

Humans' attempts at grasping at the mind of God are futile. Humans' attempts to force other humans to conform to it are evil. Religion can't bring you truth or salvation. It can only bring you human error and man-made rules. When the rubber hits the road, everybody is going to have to decide between his God and his group. No church has it right and no church can. The 1st-century church didn't have it right before or after Jesus died.

Nothing in the Bible indicates things are going to get any better for truth, either. All prophecies about religion are bad. But things started out bad; so they're just going to get worse. What group did you go to when your "brothers" were making a golden calf? Where did you go when your "brothers" were stoning Stephen? Where did you go when your "brothers" were setting up a pope? Where did you go when your "brothers" were burning Bibles and torturing people? Where did you go when your "brothers" were putting church dogma before Scripture? Where do you go when your "brothers" worship the Governing Body and the Watchtower literature?

Do you have to go anywhere? We are to be no part of the world, but do we have to become astronauts? We can mentally, emotionally, and spiritually separate ourselves from Satan's system, so what prevents us from doing the same with false worshipers around us? If they hate us because our faith in Christ doesn't allow us to follow "those who exchanged the truth of God for the lie and venerated and rendered sacred service to the creation rather than the One who created" (Rom 1:24), that was foretold. Jesus tells us to be happy because to suffer at the hands of false worshipers over pure worship is a noble thing.

Has anyone tried tactics from"Captives of a Concept"?

just read don cameron's book...which was very en-light-ening (sorry for the "new light" pun)....and i agree with many of cameron's points about how to reason with a jw but i am curious..... have any of you out there in jwn land ever tried to have a witness come to your door, pretend to have a bible study & get the jw in a "teacher" setting where they have to research for you the history of jw's in the time of 1919????.

Nothing works on a cult member who loves being in the cult. If they have more self-respect (arrogance), more authority and respect from others (elder/pioneer), more "friends", more love (bombing), attention/praise (for parroting WT propaganda), less boredom (JW treadmill), etc. they're never going to listen.

The time is coming when people won't listen to good teaching. Instead, they will look for teachers who will please them by telling them only what they are itching to hear. - 2Tim 4:3 (CEV)

According to the WT the word GB is in the Bible!

before i left for good i was the po and went to km school for po's in 2009 at patterson.

on the very first day class the instructor told us the word gb is biblicial.

he told us to turn to (heb 13:17) nwt reference bible which said "be obedient to those who are taking the lead among you* and be submissive" using the asterisk next to you he referred to the footnote at the bottom of the page.

What you're failing to realize is in JWland, when Jesus said 'all you are brothers', he meant 'all you are brothers, whereas the other sheep are the dirt under your feet to boss around as you see fit.'

Unwritten Rules

we all know jws must live by many rules.

mostly they are called "principles" because the wts doesn't want to appear to be like the scribes and pharisees that christ condemned.

so they renamed them as something other than "rules".

I remember attending a meeting with family, as a young'un where the congregation was told they should immediately scan the Watchtower as soon as it came in the mail (back before they got too cheap to pay postage), to sit down and read it thoroughly as soon as they had time, read it again to offer it in service, study the articles for the Watchtower study, then one more time at the Watchtower study. I distinctly remember this, because even as a young child the speaker repeatedly stating every Watchtower should be read at least 5 times struck me as completely insane.

Because they do not also have the teaching or law of the mother, which is light. Jehovah God has provided his holy written Word for all mankind and it contains all the information that is needed for men in taking a course leading to life. But God has not arranged for that Word to speak independently or to shine forth life-giving truths by itself. His Word says: “Light is sown for the righteous.” It is through his organization that God provides this light that the proverb says is the teaching or law of the mother. Big JW mutiny in the Vancouver BC area!!

well this year'a assembly is over and the dubs in the vancouver bc area are mad at the gb.

about 100.000 dubs had to travel all the way to kamloops bc about a 300 mile drive one way!!.

i have heard that that each dub had to shell out $500 bucks and more for food and lodging just to hear some druel about scolio.

I live in - by far - the largest city in the state, but the Society got a better deal 2 hours away in a city 1/5 the size. So, thousands - if not tens of thousands - of people have to foot the time and the bill for the travel, room, eating out, etc. rather than being able to attend in their home town which has more than adequate facilities. So, to save the Society a few bucks, the very people they get all of their money from have to shell out a few hundred extra dollars just to go and be told how they aren't doing enough and owe all glory and salvation to the "faithful and discreet slave".

it seems to me that most, if not all christians are really hung up on sin and redemption from sin and how naturally evil we all are.. my question, and observation is this : i had nothing to do with whatever you say adam and eve did wrong, i have always, throughout my life, treated whoever i came into contact with compassion, respect and love.. i have lived by the golden rule.. not many people, hand on heart, can say that, i can.. so, is your god going to judge me for the "sin" of some mythical forebears of mine ?

is he going to say that , because i did not believe in him, i willl be judged adversely, even though i lived by the precepts he is supposed to support ?.

all i can say is, if your god is like that, i refuse to worship or acknowledge him.. and i certainly do not want to get to know him.

Give you a break?

You're the one coming in here with your doctrinal checklist and interrogating everybody. Decreeing who is and isn't a Christian based on your personal understanding. Arbitrarily touting "Biblical Christianity", while calling everybody who disagrees with anything you believe a heretic. You have all these little pigeon holes you demand everybody place themselves in. If they don't, you just assume you know what their "problem" is and start preaching at them with your condescending dogma, expecting everybody to lap up the vomit spewing from your mouth.

You stand on your obnoxious soap box and bless the ones who will agree with something you say with your acceptance and attempt to parlay that into a trial by consensus against anyone who dare apostatize against your holy word. You tack on Bible verses like you blindly pull them out of a hat. You spout your flawed understanding as if we all know it and are too obstinate to accept it.

You're a foul odor, posing as a Christian, stinking up the forum. You believe the Bible is your own personal book to rifle through and accept or reject whatever you see fit, while denying it as if we're all blind and ignorant. You believe your word is all we need and if we know our place, we'll disregard everything we know - all of our own study, research, and reasoning - to adopt as if God himself spoke to us. Just like the Catholic magesterium or the Jehovah's Witnsesses' Governing Body, you expect everybody here to just shut off their brains, shut their mouths, and blindly obey you as some abomination of a prophet. You've lost your damned mind.
