What is this forum for?

i'm new.. my first post here asking for a little support was deleted by myself due to the frosty and rude replies i received.

i don't actually understand what this forum is for if it is filled with hostile people.. little confused.. why is everyone here?.

I hear your plea for help. You don't know how close you are to the Kingdom of God. He thinks you are wonderful btw. Stick it our for a bit longer and you will be encouraged.

not a lot to say, except that i studied with jw's then gave up when i realised it wasn't the truth as they call it.. the ordinary jw's are generally nice people, but their elders are mostly little dictators from what i saw.

look forward to meeting people here who are less judgemental..

Does prophesy negate free will?

i’ve asked this question to a few elders and bethelites but they don’t seem to understand or like the question.

to start off we have to agree that jehovah is all powerful.

The choice comes first logically. The choice causes the pre-knowledge, not the other way around. If you choose differently, God would know that choice. But you still had the free will to make the choice.

I think you summarize the argument rather nicely. One reason I am against Calvinism is precisely because it denies free will

Fading

hi i was on here a few years ago, i ended up caving to family pressure and returning to the borg i've since married and have 2 children .

all the reasons i returned are still here, my parents are elderly and i really don't want to hurt them but i just can't do it anymore i need to leave before my kids are brainwashed, i need to be clever this time .

last time i was dfed and became dependant on drink i am in aa and sober now and learning the true meaning of sprituality i know without a doubt that it is a dangerous cult, but i need some tips on fading, its so hard when i want to shout from the roof tops how blind they are.

I am glad both you and your husband are awake. COVID provides the perfect scenario for you to start your fade.

First step...change your phone number and have your new number blocked. Also change your email accounts and be selective about who you write to.

I'm sure you will soon get plenty of good advice about how to plan your fade from forum members who have already successfully faded.

Ever wonder how to be "saved" as a JW?

i was searching for something on the wt online library, and was struck by all the requirements a jw has in order to be "saved".. want to see a partial list?

all these found by searching for "salvation depends" on wol.

just do all 26 things, and you too can be saved!.

Just got a post from a JW who told me he was saved.

I wrote back

The Bible says of the saved that the blood of Jesus Christ God's Son cleanses us from all sin. So are all your sins forgiven and are you declared righteous? In other words are you justified before God?
And if not, what do you mean when you say that you are saved?

He wrote back:

By studying the Bible and applying it in my life. I learned that "Salvation" involves:

Gaining accurate knowledge of God and Jesus.—John 17:3.

Exercising faith.—Romans 10:17; Hebrews 11:6.

Repenting and turning around.—Acts 3:19; Ephesians 4:22-24.

Dedication and baptism.—Matthew 16:24; 28:19, 20.

Continuing to make public declaration.—Matthew 24:14;Romans 10:10.

Doing these thing has put me on the road to salvation from sin and death.

And the blessing of everlasting life on a paradise earth

I can call Jehovah. My GOD. My Father and my Friend.

“Prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens.”—Matt. 5:45.

“[Abraham] came to be called Jehovah’s friend.”—JAMES 2:23.; Isaiah 41:8; 2 Chronicles 20:7.

That's what I mean by Salvation.

Coping/Living/Understanding

i’m relatively new to this forum but am far from new when it comes to living life as a jw.

i wanted to throw out there my own personal experience and feelings and welcome any conversations (i’m mighty chatty and don’t have much for friends when it comes to jw’s) .

i hit the turning of an era nearly a month ago of legally becoming an adult, raised as a j dub my whole life.

Your parents love you and want the best for you. Like the Watchtower, they are simply using repetition in the hope that you will grow to doubt your doubts.Feel sorry for them, do all the research you want into the organization but i recommend keeping your doubts and disagreements to yourself. I know it is and will continue to be hard. I think it wise not to try reverse witnessing strategies on them to get them to change. "OK let me think about that" could be a common phrase in your vocabulary to ward off further discussion.

What you especially don't want is for your Mom to become frantic about your listening to satan and call in the elders to give you spiritual counseling which may lead to disfellowship.

Hang in there Gal and stay connected with this forum.

Had the craziest dream that my wife Disassociated from the JW cult

what a crazy dream, it was so cool....she came to me and told me she da'd from the cult.

i was so happy in my dream.

when i woke, it took me a few seconds to realize it was only a dream and that she is still brainwashed.

Does God listen and answer prayers for coronavirus patients?

my cousin has been in a medically induced coma for the last three weeks due to the coronavirus.

we just found out today that he was sent to rehab for physical therapy.

he is awake, cannot walk, and cannot talk due to damage to his vocal cords from being on a ventilator for three weeks.. my cousin has many religious friends who have posted ''get well soon'' messages on his facebook page.
