I agree with Star Tiger... At some point in our lives, I believe we all begin to realize that we are trully masters of our own destiny... JW or not, we all choose to be either happy or sad (luck has nothing to do with it)...

There is no happy endings for Jehovahs witnesses
by Star tiger init's sad too say that all of us good people that believed in a happy ending through justice that god would protect us, is a false promise, it us mere humans that make our lives and however we chose to lives this is our lot, no mystic new order or paradise earth, we make our own destiny!!!.

craziest reason elders wanted to have a commitee meeting with you
by glentrevette ini had a sister who was a tenant in my house and her car was leaking oil all over my newly paved driveway before she moved in i had a condition on the lease that said if her car leaked oil she couldnt park there and i told here after she moved in that she was being deceptive to me when she said her car didnt leak oil she was good friends with a lot of powerful elders in the hall and would you believe they asked to meet with me 3 elders in the back room of the library because they said i had called this sister a liar i got out of it only after i produced a copy of the lease and pictures of the oil mess if i hadnt of had pictures maybe i would of been dfd.

JRK... sounds like the "fart" word was your 3rd strike... does that mean you have been an auxiliary pioneer if you had said "passing gas" instead?

Wasted day at Watchtower Headquarters.
by Philadelphia Ponos ini was under the impression that the watchtower headquarters in brooklyn contained all the literature in every language.
well imagine my surprise when after traveling all the way to new york and burning about $50 on cab fare that the only book they had in the langauge i needed was a songbook.
if literature in foreign languages are stored in brooklyn, where else are they kept in the u.s?.

I'm sure they have their private stash somewhere... probably in the safe behind Rutherford's old liquor cabinet...

That is such a trivial reason to hold a star chamber hearing... the elders should have simply told her to grow up and deal with it... give me a break...
That being said, maybe she's one of those people who simply won't notice anything if their car springs a leak... you know, the ones that are completely oblivious when it comes to mechanical things... I'm just saying...

My dad made recordings of me practicing my talk so I could hear how stupid I sounded... I became really self-conscious about my speaking ability at a very young age...

For born in's: how did your parents get you to answer up?
by highdose inmy mum used to smack me on the arm with a rolled up wt when it was my turn to answer, she said it was " to make sure you didn't forget!".
most of the time i ended up just yelling "ow!
" and rubbing my arm, but she never got the message.. another way was to scream at me non stop all the way home after the meetings if i hadn't answered up.

I wasn't allowed to play with my worldy friends from the neighborhood unless I answered every Tues, Thurs and Sunday at least once per meeting... but it was a fairly easy rule to follow.. I would just read a text or say "Jehovah" or "the Bible" or some other easy response... However, if I fell asleep during the service meeting (which I occasionally did), I would get a severe spanking when we got home... How dare I disrespect Jehovah by falling asleep in his house? Made me feel like sh*t...

Ideal Paradise
by WontLeave inam i the only one who's in awe at the stock invested in the average jw's correlation to the society's publications and the probability of what the new world will be?
from my conversations with people in the various congregations i've been in, i've pieced together their concept of the new system:.
women and clean-shaved men in casual-business attire constantly gardening adjacent to tiger cubs.

Lions and bears will have straight teeth so they can easily chew on grass like the other animals. Sharks will also have straight teeth so they can easily chew on sea weed and other underwater vegetation. Eagles and other "agressive" birds will also have straight teeth so they can chew on the leaves of trees. Anything is possible with Jehovah and the Governing Body.

Regular Pioneers: How low will the WT go?
by Alfred inso i just came across an article in the watchtower (december 1, 1959 page 726) where it mentions that pioneers (or should i say culportuers?
) in the 1930s had to put in a minimum of 150 hoursper month in field circus with the phonograph (i'm guessing the record being played was rutherford's "millions" speech).
i have to wonder how many pioneers the wt would actually have nowadays if this were still the minimum monthly quota and if they'd still have to stand on a street corner with some sort of audio system... in today's economy, i really don't think they'll find much more than 2 potential candidates per circuit... which is obviously the reason that the gb keeps lowering the bar... .

But I have to ask: How low do you think the WT will go (on the monthly min hrs) before regular pioneers eventually reach the treshold of losing their "elevated status" in the Congo? 65 hours? 50 hours? 35 hours?

Elder book....Not the shepared
by itsbeenalongtime ini remember a friend of mine telling me that her husband had a book that were used byt elders only....i am not sure if this is the same book as the topic posted before..but i was wondering if anyone had a copy or knew where i could get a copy.
i am talking about the book that has all the experiences of what to do in a judicial meeting.
i remember when i had mine i could hear one of the brothers reading it and at the end he said those brothers found it grounds for a disfellowshiping..however i was df'ed..but i know that no one is allowed to read it but the elders and for some reason i do not think it is the shepard book.

Never heard of it... as far as I know it's just the Shepherd Book... But what do I know, I only got as far as MS...
The reason I say this is because my elder brother-in-law sent me an email the day saying that I had an attitude that is covered in the Shepherd Book... I came really close to asking him: "Are you referring to the BRAZEN attitude described on page 60?"... of course that would have tipped him off immediately and would give him the power to turn my family against me... I wasn't about to let this arrogant SOB get his way...
