  My rambling story

  i am 18...my mother has been studying the bible with jw's for over 20 years now.

  she has never been baptised for various reasons.she wasn't married at the time to my abusive and drunkard father...when she started studying she got married to him--then she left him 4 years after.since then almost everywhere we moved mommy was approached by the jw's and she regularly had discussions with them .. when we bought our current home and the jw's appproached us 3 years ago,mommy was working day and night and so she told them to study with me.the next sunday we started going to meetings...all the meetings...i became a publisher in 4 months and was baptised 8 months after...i was told by everyone that i was progressing well...because of my mom's hectic work schedule ( single mother 4) we never had a close relationship so i immediately became really close to my study conductor...i was taught that religion and the people at the kh had to take precedence over any family members especially those who were a part of the world..from then on i never went to any family gatherings,concerts and i began to 'look down' on my mother.after all her heart condition wasn't right--why wasn't she baptised?

  our relationship plunged---i even told her that i wanted to leave this house...she knew that i felt closer to my study conductor and so she tried to start back her study and get baptised....again she was dating someone and contemplating marriage with him but my study conductor kept on drilling into her head 'marry only in the lord'.

  I remember how I always preferred working alone door to door

  i'd just stand at the door and not knock on it or ring it.

  if someone came, i'd make a presentation - "here's your tract!".

  otherwise i'd just wait a couple of minutes and then go to the next door and not knock.. .

  thanks for the follow up... they had to know Phillip Morris was in that trust... they probably still hold Phillip Morris stock under one of their shell companies that they use to move money around... but I guess we'll never know now

  Desperate JWs At My Door Today

  i have been in terrible pain for several days now.

  i don't know what i did but my low back hurts like hell and there is a lump like a knot there.

  nothing had helped until i used my wife's tens unit.

  Also, that bunch of JWs who piled into a van in a hurry is strange also...

  Sounds like there was some "Armageddon Buzz" during the last Service Meeting...

  GB member gets pulled over...

  so one day a governing body member got pulled over on interstate 95 for erratic driving (frequent lane changes, slowing down, speeding up, etc.).

  immediately, the highway patrolman asks to see the gb members drivers license.

  the gb member happily obliges and hands over his worn out new york state drivers license.

  So one day a Governing Body member got pulled over on Interstate 95 for erratic driving (frequent lane changes, slowing down, speeding up, etc.). Immediately, the highway patrolman asks to see the GB member’s driver’s license. The GB member happily obliges and hands over his worn out New York State driver’s license. The patrolman takes off his sunglasses and attempts to read the date of birth but then decides to simply ask the GB member directly… “I can’t make this out. What’s your date of birth?” asked the patrolman as he tried to read the other information on the driver’s license. “Why, evidently, my date of birth is April 2, 1918.” To this the patrolman asks: “Evidently? What do you mean evidently?” The GB member responds: “Well it’s really not that simple. You see, Jehovah reveals things in his own due time.” The patrolman takes a deep breath in an attempt to inhale some patience from the foul air and then says: “Sir, I’m not playing games here. What is your date of birth?” To this the GB member responds: “Why evidently, it’s May 3, 1919.” The patrolman immediately snaps: “Sir, I’m not going to ask you again! What is your f**cking date of birth?” The GB member replies: “Officer, I told you already! Evidently, it’s June 4, 1920!!!”.

  “That’s it. You’ve left me no other option. I’m placing you under arrest for obstruction of justice” said the patrolman as he pulls out his handcuffs. “Is this really necessary officer? Why can’t you simply accept that the light gets brighter?” asked the GB member. To this the officer responds: “I don’t understand why you couldn’t simply tell me the truth from the beginning.” The GB member explains: “Officer, I did tell you the truth. Each time you asked me, I gave you the Present Truth on the matter. You see, The Truth never changes… our current UNDERSTANDING of the truth is what might change from time to time. But if you read Proverbs 4:18 you’ll notice that this is Biblical.” The patrolman then asked: “What about my placing you under arrest for being a wise ass? Is that Biblical also?” The GB member’s face lights up with a huge grin and he responds: “Well of course it’s Biblical. That’s persecution! Just read Matthew 10:22 and you’ll see what I mean. This proves that I’m right and you’re wrong”. The patrolman then asked: “What exactly were you right about you f**king idiot? Your story keeps changing and you keep giving me some gibberish about changing light and current understanding.”

  The GB member calmly responds: “Don’t get upset officer. Just wait on Jehovah like it says in Micah 7:7 and he will let you know everything you need to know in due time. Now please take me to jail so I can use this experience in the next District Assembly to prove that Bible prophecy is being fulfilled in our time.”

  Is the Watchtower shy about repeating their new "generation" teaching?

  as i recall in the 1980s talks and watchtower literature, magazines and books were always talking about the "generation" teaching and how it proved armageddon was going to come any day now.. but am i correct in thinking they have only actually mentioned the new "overlapping generations" teaching once or twice in the literature?

  why are they so shy about talking about their great new interpretation?

  it's almost enough to make you suspect they are a embarrassed about it.. mention it once or twice, don't dwell on it, hope everyone just accepts it, and don't bring it up again.

  a friend just forwarded me this (spanish) youtube video a few minutes ago... it's basically a tv news report about a rape/murder that occurred last august (2011) in mexico.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?nr=1&feature=endscreen&v=4fk4ngb9muk.

  apparently, a 16-year old jw girl was lured into a kingdom hall (by someone who had the keys) and then raped and strangled to death.. the reporter starts off by saying that the police have strong leads, but i have not been able to find much more info about this on the internet.

  A little more info... This happened in April 2010 (not August 2011) and the perpetrator was caught in November 2011 after DNA evidence revealed that he raped her.

  According to several on-line news articles from Honduras, this was apparently a JW who had the Kingdom Hall keys and was in charge of KH security (I'm guessing he was in charge of watching the KH at night? who knows)... I'm just glad he was caught and brought to justice...

  I wonder how much the elders knew and if the Legal Department told them not to cooperate with authorities...

  Apparently, a 16-year old JW girl was lured into a Kingdom Hall (by someone who had the keys) and then raped and strangled to death.

  The reporter starts off by saying that the police have strong leads, but I have not been able to find much more info about this on the internet. (I'll keep looking)

  But I was really impressed by how the people in the town organized a protest right away and one woman even stated that the elders know something but is protecting the perpetrator. She also states that this is not the first time something like this happens in that Kingdom Hall. The protestors in general were demanding that the KH be shut down indefinately...

  Has anyone heard of this story?
