This is great, sseveninches. I hadn't really thought about distancing myself from current JW friends. Looks like I'll have towork on that.

This is some research I've done on the 30 "other lands" figures from the WT year book. Thanks to Cedars and his 30 Other Lands post. I've based in on that.
The population data was gatherered from Wikipedia. The publisher figures were taken from the 2012 year book. I also added in figures from 4 other large countries to show just how much preaching is being done by the WT.
This data puts WT preaching into perspective. It practically ensures that less than 50% of the world's population alive today has never been preached to. Although, you'll never hear that at the meeting.

James A. Shapiro, Professor of Microbiology qouted to support Creationism.
by dark angle inmy brother, clinging to creationism quoted prof. james a. shapiro to support his idea.
this our facebook dialoge:.
him:innovation, not selection, is the critical issue in evolutionary change.. thirty years ago, i was at a conference in cambridge, england, to celebrate the centennial of darwin's death.

You were eloquent, thurough and based on sound logic. I love how you brought up the quote mining argument. More JW's need to be educated on quote mining, a common WT practice used to attempt to discredit the scientific community and any other source of information that contradicts them.
Shapiro's quote doesn't even contradict science anyway, it merely states that we don't know everything right now. Some questions we have may take science 10 years, others 100 years, and others 1000 years to answer. It is a logical fallacy to think that whatever we cannot currently explain is unexplainable and was therefore an act of god.

Exit Strategy - My plan to leave
by FrankWTower ini've been intellectually awake for about three years now.
it's taken me time but i've figured out an exit strategy to leave the jw's as frictionless as possible.
it's impossible to leave with my dignity in tact but, leaving will be worth it.

@moshe,
I was going to reply to your post and clarify some details I left out of my plan, but I decided not to since I prefer not to give too many personal details away.
Suffice it to say that some of your conclusions are based on assumptions you cooked up from thin air.
The language on your post leads me to think that you are a troll. And you know what they say abou trolls? "Don't feed the trolls."

Atheists! Would like your suggestion..
by umadevi inhi friends, i have been reading threads on atheism and how they see life from their point of view.
i must admit some of the points that you (atheists) put forth have given me something to think about.
i still have faith in god but let's say if i would like to do a research on atheism, where should i start?

Umadevi,
I think it's great that you approach atheism with an open mind. It shows you have some critical thinking skills.
And that's exactly where I think you should start. When I started having doubts about the WT's teachings, it was because I enjoyed watching science documentaries online and I became convinced that science is the best method to learn about the universe and everything in it. So I thought, what if I applied a scientific method of learning to my religious beliefs? And lo and behold, Neither the WT or the bible itself can stand up to scrutiny. They fall apart when you look at them critically. You start to notice things you would never think of before.
The book I read which lead me to reject both the WT and the bible as the written word of god, was not an atheism book but a critical thinking book.
"Critical Thinking: Tools for Taking Charge of Your Professional and Personal Life" by Richard W. Paul & Linda Elder, is what I read.
You can find it on Amazon for a reasonable price. Plus it's not the kind of book you have to hide from others because it's not controversial at all.
It doesn't have an agenda. It doesn't try to turn you into an atheist or to leave your religion for another or anything like that. Books on atheism written by atheists will present arguments as to why atheism is right and theism is wrong. So, they're biased. Books on atheism written by theists will present arguments as to why it's wrong, so they're biased as well. This book merely helps you to become a deep thinker. It will show you how to come to your own conclusion by sharpening your tool kit. It will change your life, whether you choose to be a theist or an atheist.

Homeopathy - Interesting Case in Australia
by cantleave inas i expect many of you can guess, i am very sceptical about unproven medical techniques, and find some of the claims made by homeopathic medicine quite ludicrous.
when i was a witness i saw lots of faith in "alternative" medicine, so long as it didn't border on anything to do with demunz, it was probably being promoted by some crank pot sister.
i would be interested in what opinions you guys and gals have.. anyway here's the article.. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/breaking-news-old/watchdog-blast-homeopathy-site-over-whooping-cough/story-fn3dxity-1226346266370.

Homeopathy is a pseudoscience (not real science) and should therefore be viewed with a generous dose of skepticism.
I personally never support any kind pseudoscience, which actually includes chiropractic treatment, because they're not supported by empirical evidence.

I've been intellectually awake for about three years now. It's taken me time but I've figured out an exit strategy to leave the JW's as frictionless as possible. It's impossible to leave with my dignity in tact but, leaving will be worth it. It won't be easy, but I can do it. Here goes:
I'm going back to school!
I'm going back for a bachelor's degree. I will start at the local community college for an associate of arts degree, which transfers to a 4 year university for a bachelor's. The community college has a more flexible schedule, offering evening and some online classes.
Going back to school as a non-JW will allow me to do some of the things I never had the chance to do in high school. Like making friends with non-jw's and dating classmates. I've thought about dating a "liberal-minded" JW and trying to turn her later on in the relationshp (perhaps after marriage), but it's risky.
Going back to school will hit several birds with one stone. Finding friends outside the organization, finding a girl with an open mind, edudcation for a career (which I never got as a JW), and maybe getting me dfed for a "sin" less hardore than apostasy. My family will eventually get over it, I know this for a fact ;-).
It can take me up to 8 years to fininsh my degree, but I still have most of my life ahead of me, and it's damn well worth it.

should there be a national coming out day for JWs leaving the borg?
by zengalileo ini got the idea from what harvey milk did for the gay movement.
i am tired of hearing these stories about people staying jws while scared to admit they don't believe in it anymore.
if you saw the movie milk, then you know the argument.
