Possible Facebook blunder
by exwhyzee inso i made a couple of comments on my older brother's fb and i think i might have gone too far.. a little background.
my brother is a pretty popular guy... i am about a year younger than him and although we currently live on opposite coasts of the us., i know most of his jw friends.
he has about 600 fb friends and is on his page daily making announcements on there as if he's ashton kutcher talking to his fans....or something.

i am a regular pioneer in my cong reading crisis of conscience.here goes...
by MsGrowingGirl20 ini'm on page 90 right now...the info is definitely new and gives me a totally diff view as to how i used to think of faithful and discreet slave.
i was thoroughly disgusted with the way the brothers handled the oral sex and leadership problem and the insight on the scriptures book...... still have alot of questions though.

Sweetheart, don't "do" anything. Do further research. I strongly recommend reading "The Best of" section here at JWN. You will be amazed at the resources here at your fingertips. Question everything. But go calmly. There is no hurry. You will probably want to rush as fast as you can. Don't. Give yourself time to recover from the shock.

Welcome to the forum, I hope you find it comforts you and helps you the way it did me.
I was raised in the truth, since the very early fifties, and have seen many changes. They didn't shake my faith, I was a believer. I have to tell you though, that as much as "Crisis" opened my eyes, and as much as it cleared my head as to exactly how the governing body and our headquarters works, what really shook my faith, what made me think that this wasn't god's organization, was what the organization itself wrote.
It was reading our publications, not the work of so-called "apostates" that made me reconsider a lifetime of our teachings. No one told me that we taught that the pyramids were "God's Great Stone Witness" or that we said Christ came in 1874 and that 1799 was the beginning of the time of the end. Nor was I aware that we interpreted Michael as the pope, and the angels as the pope's bishops. But save it for later. Breathe deep, and calm down, there is much to know that even old birds like me didn't know. When you are ready, read our own old publications.
Don't be afraid. It is not true that only unhappiness lies outside the organization. I have found joy and wonder even at my age. Your first thought is "But how would I worship God????" Remember what Jesus's followers said? To whom shall we go? Not to where. Take it easy. Don't panic. Someone gave me good advice. They said, "Breathe."

Explain to me what all this "leading" stuff means?
by GrandmaJones inmany times in posts i see men speak of the fact that they failed in some way to "lead".
i am not sure what that means exactly.
is this an implied lack of decision making skills on the part of the woman?

Many times in posts I see men speak of the fact that they failed in some way to "lead". I am not sure what that means exactly. Is this an implied lack of decision making skills on the part of the woman? Do you see this as symptomatic of a passiveness on the part of females in general? Do you attribute it to the Watchtower training that encourages women to be submissive and for men to "take the lead"? Is this a trait that you feel the average worldly woman displays? Just curious.

My Story
by TheWanderer ini found this site quite a few months ago, after a curiosity search on wikipedia about jws and what's going on with the organization.
i was unfortunately born into it, 4th-generation; my great-grandfather was a special pioneer spreading the word in the early 1900s.
it was all i knew growing up, even though i struggled between trying to conform to make everyone happy ... and finding my own way in life.

I was simply terrified at my own acknowledgement of my apostacy. The people on this forum helped me to take a deep breath and regroup. I needed someone to understand, and they did. I will always be grateful. I spent weeks and months reading all the old discussion of doctrine, etc. in the archives. The level of scholarship is often wonderful. I wish I could pay it forward, but it seems that it's all been said, and said better than I could.
