Ok, I'm going way back now, circa 1962. I was very young and we only had 4 channels with rabbit ears and aluminum foil. One of the channels was Canadian because we were close to the border. I'd forgotten about this one. Fireball XL5.

I haven't done a link here before so I'm sure if it will work.

Thank gawd for Hulu and TVLand online. I turned off my DirectTV after discovering these sites AND live NFL games. TV is cr@p nowadays so I'm throwing out the dish.
Andy Griffith (B&W)
MASH (1st 3 seasons)
WKRP (thx for the turkey clip! Had to be one of the funniest TV episodes of all time.)
Rifleman (Hulu rocks for coverage on this one)
Gunsmoke
Avengers

Summer Assembly and Botox
by GrandmaJones inanother no-no from the wt.
this was obviously some sort of manuscript talk, i was there and heard it at the st. louis assembly and asked around, and i know it was at other district conventions.
what business is this for the fds to be in, not a scriptual affair at all.

When I was a teenager back in the early '70's I tried to grow my hair out from a crew cut. A combination of my hair being stick straight and my parents not letting it get "too long" I couldn't get it to lay down normally. I finally got a body perm to relax it enough to lay down (not curly). I was called in by the elders almost immediately, read all the scripts listed above. They also said that it was offending some of the "older" sisters. I couldn't help laughing at him. I had several "older" sisters compliment me on the style.....INCLUDING HIS WIFE!
It's amazing how creative they get in twisting scriptures to use against you any way they like. So to bring myself into compliance I grew my hair down to my shoulders. Don't need a perm now. Lays down fine.

It's their game, not yours anymore. Only play it if you want to feel like a "douche". You are free now so go with it. They are powerless unless you let them make you act differently than you feel. Treat them like you would any other friend or acquaintance. Having been on this board, on and off, for 9 years I can tell you that you just may be communicating with some of them soon.

Thanks for sharing! It's good to have Economics 101 in an easy to understand format.

That sounds great, TF! In retrospect, I sometimes wish I would have done the same. I finally snapped and went out in a blaze of glory. Now if I go into a KH (for memorials of family), the elders immediately huddle up. Equivalent of calling security. I can't help but smile. It's hysterical.

I raised my hand...I was the only one who hadn't smoked

Crazy2try,
You didn't miss anything. Weed makes you stupid, hungry & tired. I was in a class all of my own in the "goody 2 shoes" roll. I got rid of it by being the biggest partier I could be. I've done truckloads of about every drug there is and smoked 2 & 1/2 packs of cigs a day. What a waste of life. I do know for a fact that when a person wants to quit they can. OD'd twice/rehab 3 times (court ordered twice/wife ordered once) didn't work. I had to really want it. Quit cold turkey on everything and never looked back.
Quandry,
You have it spot on. I should have taken that kind of advice 30 years ago. My liver and lungs would have thanked you!

I forgot all about this one and wonder if anyone else has seen something similar. We had a brother that was "challenged" and had never learned how to read. This was back when the 2nd talk was actually a talk and not a bible reading. This guy would stand up at the platform with the MS servant behind him. The servant would say a sentence and the poor guy would stand there with sweat beading on his forehead and parrot back the words. I was only in grade school then but I remember thinking he looked like a marionette.

i'm quite thankful for my upbringing because of that.

Bravo! I can relate. If you spend your formative years selling everlasting life to an unsuspecting public you can translate it into amazing success later on. That is, if you get out in time.
