I agree with Splash. That has been my observation in the past.

I agree 100% with Troubled Mind. You are at a perfect age and time in your life to do this! Concentrate on meeting new people and making new friends. There are all kinds of volunteer opportunities and other activities where you can meet new people. Consider seriously moving to a new town maybe even a new state. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! In 2 years , you can have a whole new life . You will hardly remember the life you left behind.

What was the most rebellious thing you did while you were a devout jw?
by DuvanMuvan ini was just thinking about how humans being imperfect and satan's influence was the root of everything bad that anyone has ever done.
well i know that apparently everyone is vulnerable which got me thinking about what "bad" things people have done while they were a jw.
i'll start it off.

I was a good little JW. Until I was about 15 and I stopped going to meetings and then I went to COLLEGE!!!!!!!! And then when my father died very suddenly I refused to agree for my mother to have a JW funeral.( My parents had become pretty inactive while I was in college). When the JW elder and his wife came to our door to give his condolences and possibly to plan the funeral with my mother, I went outside and met them coming up the walkway. I told them to LEAVE and NEVER COME BACK TO OUR HOUSE AGAIN!!!! And they didn't. No one else ever knew that they had come. Including my mother. Come to think of it that is the most rebellious thing I ever did. And it had decades of consequences. All the way up until now.

Finally free of JWs!
by Julia Orwell inwe moved house and no active jw knows we live there.
it's in another congregation territory too so when they finally come knocking, they won't know i'm a dirty apostate when i tell them to put me on the do not call list.
problem is, the local discount supermarket across the highway is frequented by jws from my previous previous congregation!.

I think you can become totally free. You must make new friends and build a whole new life. It will eventually be a distant memory and you can just hang on to what you have learned from it.

As someone who was raised from birth as a JW, I would say it's very possible that your daughter is full of fear that she and her parents are going to die at Armageddon very soon. Her grandmothers may be making the fear worse. Children do hear what is being said at meetings. Horrible, horrible religion.

forgive & forget and move on. Time waits for nobody.
Good advice. I'm still working on this. Don't take as long as I have.
But, yes, I do understand that feeling of sadness and isolation. And I think it is directly related to being raised a JW. It's good to get on this forum and talk about it and release those feelings and anger.

The Effects of JW Child Abuse into Adulthood
by PublishingCult inmy two oldest brothers, jim and ron, were coerced into baptism when they were but 10 and 11 years old.. .
they were indoctrinated heavily, of course, and they tried to toe the line and be good little jw boys as best two unruly fatherless boys could.
the nature of a boy won out and they both got into some mischief about a year later.

Thanks for sharing about your brother. I was a born-in, beginning in 1956, about the same as your brother. I understand everything you have told us. I am very sorry for your loss. Thanks for calling it what it is: child abuse.

You've gotten great advice here.
The best way I found and its at times a hard thing to do, is stay clear of any JWS all together, they will only degrade you,
malign your character and show copious amounts of disrespect.
I was a born-in also. You just have to go on with your life and put all those JW people that you have known in your past. Look forward not backward.
