Is this Loaded Language in the 2011 Calendar?
by maninthemiddle ini think it could be fair to say, that if paul spoke for jesus, then "revealed truth" could be a valid description since the scriptures say he visited them several times, but i think the loaded language comes in when you try to apply this to modern times, (wts a modern paul?).
i see this as trying to mold the first century to fit the current wts/jws.
what do you think?.

Totally agreed. And I bet most JWs will go OMG what a lovely God given calendar!

Spoof the Watchtower Contest?
by Ding inwe have seen time and again how the gb comes up with a strange doctrine (such as not celebrating birthdays) by citing something in the bible (the beheading of john the baptist) and then claiming that the "connection" makes their teaching "biblical.".
this got me thinking about how easy and fun it might be to create any "bible teaching" by this type of specious reasoning.. i thought it might be fun to have a jwn contest to see who can come up with the most watchtower-sounding rationale for a screwy doctrine of their own creation.. in another thread, i wrote a short satire on how the gb could come up with a "biblical reason" for preventing jws from going bowling by noting that 10 is an important bible number and then saying that knocking down 10 pins symbolizes breaking each of the ten commandments.. if i had wanted to expand that nonsense into a watchtower-style article, i would have gone on to explain the importance of the ten commandments and then spend several paragraphs denouncing all the evils of lawlessness, culminating with paul's warning about the "man of lawlessness" in 2 thessalonians 2:3. at the end of this exercise, i would have readers worked into a frenzy about the evils of bowling.. does anyone doubt that if the wts actually did this, jws would immediately stop bowling and start looking down on worldlies who do it?.
can't you just imagine a watchtower study where jws dutifully answer questions explaining why bowling is so displeasing to god?.

WT Society wants Elders to Conceal Information to Psychiatrists- Elders Bk.
by flipper inmy wife and i have read carefully through chapter 5 of the new elders manual when we do our " personal study " in bed on saturday mornings !
so without further delay , notice this quote from the new elders manual, " there are times when an emotionally distressed christian may seek professional help.
whether a christian or his family pursues treatment from psychiatrists , psychologists, or therapists is a personal decision.

Or even in other issues.
Instead of getting people counseling for those who are of queer sexualities, here is their dangerous and unhelpful advice (not in that order):
- Don't do anything.
- We are right, they are wrong. So don't get counseling, only read the five articles about it that just either tell you it's your fault, your parents' fault, and hang in there until you die. Include inaccurate statistics and statements that don't rely on real facts and figures.
- You were lying because you didn't tell your parents earlier and you should've because that was important.
- Get married.

Did this talk ever happen?
by bottleofwater ini heard that in a certain congregation an elder was giving a talk about profanity and the need to avoid it.. he started then counting on his fingers different obscenities and saying them out loud.. those in the audience were shocked.
he was taken off the stage and had his elder book taken from him.. .
did anyone ever hear of this happening?

Is being brought up a Jehovah's Witness child abuse?
by digderidoo inif you feel that it was abuse then why?.
personally my parents became jw's when i was 13 so i never had the earlier years within the religion.
but by being controlled so much during my teen years i would liken it to abuse.

I agree. And it suppresses you from all sides. Limits your creativity.

Doesn't the whole number obsession just prove that this is all bullshit?
