There are a fair number of 'casual' JW's. They miss meetings on occasion....... fib about the time they have spent going door to door. Giving gifts to the children like after Christmas is over..... same for birthdays.
There is a term for this type of witness they are called 'bystander witnesses'. They see what's going on but they don't want to really get involved.
Then we have PIMO's Physically participating In the religion by going to meetings but mentally out.
Is your friend an Elder in the congregation? Or a ministerial servant? Does the wife pioneer? Seventy -five hours a month in service.
Dano maybe this family are casual JWs. Who bend the rules because they can.
But even if so.........something is off.
I think most of us are concerned with exposing your kids to their religion. Planting seeds in young minds.
We have all met the different personalities of people who are sure they and only they have the truth. They can be liars, dominant, narcissistic, pedophiles...... abusive parents, prone to shunning children who want a different life.
How does your wife feel about this? Sometimes one's mate or the other may not really like or trust a so called 'close' friend.
The exposure to meetings or a bible study for your children exposes the children to a distortion in how they are viewing the world.
I think you need to reel this relation in by setting up boundaries.

Lets say they take being a 'good neighbor' seriously. However there are some things that could impact the lives of your children. Unfortunately when it comes to being a JW obedience is equal to faith. Since the faith is distorted their obedience can prove harmful.
One belief that is held by a JW is that God, Jesus, the angles will visit Armageddon on this world and cause billions of people to be destroyed. Men, women and children. The people who are going to die are people who never knew the JW's existed. Or they turned them away if they knocked on their door.
What they do with billions of dead people has never been explained.
JW's overlook this and focus on a paradise earth not the dead.
A normal person doesn't die for want of a blood transfusion. But a JW will. If they need one to save their life they must refuse. It is mandated that they carry what I call a 'suicide note' also known as the NO BLOOD card with them. It is a statement of fact that they refuse a blood transfusion no matter what.
If your away and they are watching your children and they are in a car wreck or a child is hit by a car or falls off their bike can you be reassured these neighbors will allow for a life saving blood transfusion? Be assured they will not consent and if time is of the essence and you can not be reached............
The JW's have evolved a belief that confuses eating blood with a transfusion. A transfusion is not eating. It's a transplant. Unfortunately this practice of denying a transfusion has caused the deaths of thousands of JW's each and every year. It's Jonestown every year since 1945.
My wife and I lost my sister and my wife's mother because they would not allow a transfusion and there was no way to save them at the Hospital.
You have learned that the JW's have a pedophile problem. That problem is amplified because they maintain that the 'Two witness rule' needs to be used. It's pretty rare that a pedophile will molest a child in front of another adult. However the child sexual abuse can go on for years. The Elders try to did keep this situation private.
During the recent 2015 ARC ( Australian Royal Commission) an investigation of child sexual abuse in religions was commissioned. They started with the Catholic Church and then moved on to the JW's.
They found, under sworn oath, that there were records of 1006 JW cases of CSA and 1800 total victims and not a single case was reported to the police.
On this forum questions can and should be asked.
Dano you got some thinking to do.

May 2020 Watchtower They Admit, they don't know
by Listener inthey'll write pages and pages of stuff and yet they don't have any idea.. here's a paragraph from their latest speculations on future events, bolding is mine.. a prophecy recorded by ezekiel gives some insight into what may happen during the last days of the king of the north and the king of the south.
if we view the prophecies of ezekiel 38:10-23; daniel 2:43-45; 11:44–12:1; and revelation 16:13-16, 21 as speaking about the same time period and events, it appears that we can expect the following developments.. that's an awful lot of assumptions to make.
what they've done is picked out various scriptures from different parts of the bible and now state that they may or may not be talking about the same events.

The WTBTS does have one major accomplishment........ the art of painting their beliefs into a corner.......... then having to sit there waiting for the paint to dry.
Sorry WTBTS your foot prints spoil the finish every time.

Circuit Overseer to Answer My Questions + Concerns...or Not
by Research inhello all, i'm 'researching', a jw who is in the first steps of taking a look at their beliefs.. i've semi-recently (about a couple weeks ago) heard about the sexual abuse cases (pennsylvania attorney general’s investigation request) and then the arc in 2015. this lead to a deep investigation, which lead to many questions arising.
a jw friend of mine suggested i be careful (due to apostates) and ask the brothers.
so i typed up my questions + concerns and emailed an elder my mother has known for a long time.

Establish a base reason for your concerns and questions and by the way stop asking questions .....JW's don't like questions. What they like is obedience over faith.
Your best protection is the ARC's findings into the JW religion and the WTBTS confrontational mindset.
Essentially the Society was a publishing and real estate holding corp. Decades later it established itself as a religion in 1931 or there about. The only thing that changed was the tax break they have enjoyed to this day.
The ARC has revealed that the Australian JW Branch had information on some 1006 cases of child sexual abuse dating from 1950 until this day. Of those cases there were over 1800 plus victims of sexual abuse......... a pedophile doesn't stop with one victim. ......... AND........... not a single case was reported to the police!
Jesus actually was very specific about children. He said "do not hinder the children from coming to me."
I would think child sexual abuse was a crime first and a sin secondly. The JW's land firmly on it being a sin that can be handled by their idiot Elders....... in house.
If you get 'blow back' from your congregation, the Elders, the Circuit overseer...... simply stake out a position that you have been stumbled by the child sexual abuse the ARC showed that was actually happening in the congregations.
If you are threatened just remind them that you know for a fact that the JW congregations have protected child abusers and you are prepared to write a letter to your local newspaper revealing the ARC information.

Catlover you successfully trolled us!
And I'll bet that a number of us got a laugh hearing you were out.
Perhaps your search for living and housing should focus on a different career choice.

JW's were under educated.... still are....... and obedient to the failed 'medical advice', of the Society. Let's call it what it was and still is....... Quackery.
So what followed were JW's treating their cancer with coffee enema's, grape therapy etc. and/or heading down to Mexico to be treated with the latest Mexican quackery and then returning home to die.
The ban on blood exposes them to any number of situations like cancer and traumatic injury.
Belief in the 'truth' often makes them the first to die when proper medical treatment is denied.

Hi Catlover,
You have landed on an ex JW web site that pertains to this religion. It would be better if you reexamined the beliefs and Organization of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society before committing yourself to it's authority.
As an Aupair I am sure you would not want to associate with child sexual abusers. Google Jehovah's Witnesses Pedophile problem and find out for your self.
jwfacts.com is an excellent place to check out as they only quote from the Watchtower's words.
The 'friends' will deny there is a problem. But the broken lives and law suits tell a different story.

Why Did Obama win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009?
by JW_Researcher inwhile even non-peaceful people have been awarded the peace prize (e.g.
arafat, kissinger), i am confused as to how obama could possibly have won the award one year after being the first term junior senator from illinois with zero “peace” experience (other than his ‘well-articulated’ rhetoric)..
reading the obama-pining on a couple of posts made me reexamine my view of barry’s presidency..

He will be remembered as the President who backed the truck out of the ditch and got America going again.
Trump hates Obama like he hates anyone else who disagrees with him or mocks him. He's a worthless President.
