Here's a theory -

There was some speculation here that the org were going to release a new book last year but dropped the idea. The did not bring out a new book this year either. It was pointed out that any doctrinal new light is first exposed at the assemblies. It also appeared that there was going to be some new revelation about the toes of the statue in the book of Daniel but that fizzled out as well.

If there is a significant change in doctrine then it would cause a lot of debate even amongst the GB, after all there are at least 6 people to convince and they would need to iron out all the kinks to get the story to flow logically which would take some time.

What better way to test new doctrine than for a JW of some standing to expose the ideas on apostate boards. Where else do they get moe 'insight' and commonsense logical discussions?

I think if there is new doctrine then we have already been exposed to it and the revealer is 20571point428571. He declares himself as an anointed JW in good standing. He joined both here and on topix just over a year ago and has been writing heaps about new interpretations of prophecies in Revalation and other bible books.

20571point428571's basic idea is that all the prophecy fulfillments of Revelation and other books which the org has identified were simply a minor fulfillment. That is everything from 1914 were correct but just identified on a minor level. In the near future we are looking at these prophecies coming to fruition again but as a major and final fulfillment.

With this strategy the org can declare that most of the things they have already interpreted are in fact all correct and valid but because they were just a minor fulfillment they must now look at a new fulfillment of these prophecies. This gives them a completely new slate upon which they can rewrite their interpretations. They could still brag that they are the only one true religion as they were the only ones that have been able to identify this minor and major fulfillment and there would be no need to back peddle on 1914.

This also gets them over the hurdle of re-identifying the King of the North and the two witnesses.

i have been trying to wrap my head around the talk that introduced the slave as our mother?

the brothers at bethel are worried that we are not treating our spiritual mother with respect.

jehovah is our father, the faithful slave (the governing body) is our spiritual mammy.

Is the Governing Body overdue to make new appointments?

i'm doing some research for a new blog article on the governing body.

it's in a question-and-answer or "faq" format, and attempts to give simple but well-founded answers to most questions that people could conceivably ask about the governing body.. one thing i noticed when looking at the history of the governing body is that we seem to be in the middle of a lengthy "dry spell" when it comes to making new appointments.. gerrit losch is currently the longest-serving member having been appointed in 1994. however, his appointment came at the end of a 17 year period in which no appointments were made.

this contrasts notably with the remarkable six-year period between 1971 and 1977 when 15 members were added.. since losch's appointment, 4 members were added in 1999 (herd, lett, pierce and splane) and 2 more recently in 2005 (morris and jackson).. the seven year spell since the last appointments were made has seen the deaths of barber, barr, jaracz, shroeder and sydlik - cutting the number of governing body members almost in half.

The Finance Department would advise that new members are cost too much whereas they need to cut costs.

The Legal Department discourage new members because it means there are more persons they must influence.

The GB may be finding it difficult to be in agreement on their choice of new members.

put simply, the governing body purports to be a small group of anointed men (currently numbering 7) who represent a much larger group (numbering the thousands) of anointed individuals living on earth today.

in nearly every reference to their position of oversight over the worldwide brotherhood, the governing body refer to themselves as being representatives.... .

I should elaborate.

He considers himself a very dedicated JW and fully defends their teachings. I don't think he has ever said that he is one of the anointed but his last thread here shows he considers himself to be one. His only JW crime evident from his writings is that he is 'running ahead' of the GB. It would appear that he feels that if the GB has lost it's way then it would be the responsibility of the F&DS as a whole/individually to try and remedy this.

The F&DS existed well before the GB did but 'anointed' JWs have always accepted the authority of the WTBTS/organization which later on established the GB. If as a group they no longer do accept the lead then they may well do something about it and they would not be acting in an unscriptural manner, unless they went against scripture. The GB would have no authority to stop this from happening and would have to step down.

He has been writing blog type posts for some time now and at a guess I think he has become frustrated, like hitting your head against a brick wall. But his case is not isolated. There are other JWs that feel the GB is not doing their job properly and no doubt there would be other 'anointed' JWs that feel the same way.

He had stopped writing for a month or two and only came back to post a petition that he was putting to the GB and now it would appear that he doesn't want to engage in any discussion about it.

I am just looking at this from a 'JW' perspective but have different views regarding the reality of the F&DS and what it means to be anointed. It is interesting to see the frustration within the organization and in this case from a person who considers themself to be a current anointed JW.

I thought the post made by 20571point428571 when he was addressing the GB was interesting - "WE KNOW JEHOVAH CAN RAISE ANOINTED FROM THE STONES, BUT WE ENTRUST HE WILL CONTINUE TO USE THE GB, WE KNOW HE WILL USE THE FDS, THAT IS A PROPHETIC GUARANTEE, THE GB IS NOT PROPHETIC, SO YOU HAVE TO GUARD YOUR PRIVILEGE WITH A ZEAL TO PROTECT THIS POSITION."

Any new light on windows in the KH

remodeling is being done on the kh in my area.. friends have come to me inquiring about the remodeling.. it,s been two months.

first they ask , why no windows.. i told them some kh have windows.

soon after windows.

With so many window cleaners in the KH it's surprising there are no windows.

it was an inspirational evening at the meeting yesterday evening.

there was a nice comments @ congregational bible study (former bookstudy) about listening and obying the slave.

"if we are told to go left, we are going left, if we are told to go right, we are going right".. the comment was welcomed by the book study elder of course.

Who get baptized in holy spirit, and when?

my wife asked me a very simple, but profound question; "when does someone who claims to be anointed, get baptized in holy spirit?"..

i'd never thought of it before, but it quickly dawned on me that in general, anyone who claims to have the heavenly hope, never had it at their baptism.

they almost always received their 'calling' after several years as a christian.

Thanks Bobcat for your reasoning. When I read it something seemed to dawn on me and I wonder if it may be a reasonable thought (and I apologize as I find it difficult to express my thoughts but here goes -

To be baptized with the Holy Spirit is a realization that we have made ourselves acceptable/approved for the giving of the gift from God, which is the prospect and the possiblity of everlasting life which was made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. By realization I don't mean that we personally are aware that we have suddenly been given this gift but by our belief we have made ourselves available for this gift. It's like a missing link in that God required mankind to be redeemed, Jesus offered this redemption and all that is now required is for there to be faithful followers to whom the benefit of this gift can now be given. So the prospect of everlasting life (and the restoration of perfectness) for individuals is not possible unless God's holy spirit can be bestowed on them.

Being anointed by Holy Spirit was not possible before Jesus came to sacrifice his life as there was no permanent redemption of sin up until this time.

The problem with this thought, though, is that people were being anointed with the Holy Spirit before the actual sacrifice was made by Jesus.

I may be way off track so I would appreciate your opinions.

Statement "from heaven"

there was a post on here about a month ago about the dc speaker saying the statement was made that 'we are in the last day of the last days' and how we could count on it because it was in the outline and how the gb feels strongly about it.

well, apparently this is confirmed, because our speaker today was samuel herd, one of the gb members, and he prefaced it with: 'we got this statement from heaven'.

then he said something about not imagining coming up with the statement himeself.
