The List, by "Prominent Bethelite"
by morloc ini occasionally pop through here to catch up on the latest, but this time i'm going to pop my own post on here.. some of you internet oldsters may even remember this.
my first experience on the internet regarding discussions about jehovah's witnesses and the watchtower took place on a now-obscure usenet group, before i eventually stumbled across hourglass2.. during those days, there was a poster who went by the name "prominent bethelite," an otherwise anonymous individual whom i remember most for an extensive, exhaustive compilation of date-oriented remarks, predictions, and expectations by the watchtower organization down through the decades of its history.. it became known as "the list" and it's definitely lengthy... but a fascination look at the abundance of errant statements made through the watchtower's history.. if you're curious, it's been available for a long time on hourglass2's site, and can be seen using the link provided below.. the list, compiled by prominent bethelite (1999).
that's about it for this stop through here.

I don't think this is easy to find and whether it is available at all. They have had to delete the recordings from some online sites due to being pursued by someone. Sorry I am being vague.
The author is Kim and her husband is Mike. They post here and I think one posts as Newly Enlightened. They have a YouTube account and have made many Youtubes.
That recording was only the beginings of the amount of insight into the organization that they have personally provided.
An amazing couple.

STARTING OVER with my Elderette - What Does the Bible REALLY Teach?
by Faithful Witness inshe said, "so, what made you decide to study this book?
at this point, she opened with a prayer.
"...and some decide that such questions are best left to religious leaders and teachers.

"When they make adjustments, or we are given a new or clearer understanding, I usually just think... 'Why didn't we believe that all along?' I hear it, I check the scriptures, and realize they are right. For me, and I can only speak for myself of course, I am glad that we keep adjusting our path, so we can follow what the Bible really says."
This seems to be a common remark from JWs and once again she is not just speaking for herself, she's repeating an ingrained thought control.
Examining this statement is interesting.
If she were to reconsider what she was originally taught, without knowing the new teaching, would she still believe what that original teaching was? Of course she would. But and the big but is, that it was obviously wrong (from a JW standpoint) so why weren't questions being asked and why did she not closely examine this teaching?
"So we can follow what the bible really says" This is acknowledgement that they don't have the truth because they don't always follow what the bible says, otherwise they wouldn't need to make changes.
Who is telling her to make changes in her understanding? Is it the bible or is it men?
What she is really saying is that she loves the new teaching because it is easier to explain whilst witnessing and is easier to understand. She doesn't care about the truthfullness of the old teaching or the new teaching. As long as it comes from the organization she will find some way to adapt it into her own thinking.
You haven't, as yet, forced her hand into having to say that we need to wait on Jehovah for the answer to that question but she seems to present herself as a person who knows all the answers. This is what makes a JW such a prideful person, they think they have all the answers and this isn't from their own understandings, reasearch and thoughtful consideration but because they have been spoonfed those answers. Even when they know they are wrong they are right because they can turn to some twisted teachings for a reply that sounds good.
Get ready for her to use the statement about having to wait on Jehovah for a specific answer.

It is telling that as they now have this modern technology available for use, they are not using a christian desire to provide the best for the r & f by choosing the best of their speakers rather than glorifying themselves.

The earthly paradise (TM) has now become a much more happified prospect for all the sheepies. Maybe there will be less JWs declaring themselves anointed.
It must be wonderful (in a demented kind of way) to be in control of the fantasies of millions of people, to decide on a whim the paradise you want to create for them.

As a parent, did you ever have a swimming pool and invite neighbor kids?
by 4thgen inbeing 4th generation, i realize that am socially stunted, in regard to those that are not jws.
i am forging ahead and endeavoring to build a life outside of jw's.
i am trying as i can to socialize my child to make friends and be a normal kid.

We've had a pool whilst the kids have been growing up and there are a lot of benefits but it is a serious matter and as a parent actually takes a lot of the pleasure away.
Home insurance is good but it is of very little significance as you do not want any child to drown or be badly injured.
The most important responsibility is to keep a constant watch on the children and I mean constant, don't even think of taking a telephone call even if you are near the pool. It is amazing how easily distracted you can become. We had a horrible scare early on but it did teach us how important it was to always keep your eye on the kids. When children are in trouble they may not make any noise at all.
It is a very bad idea to have a bunch of children in the pool at the one time. At the most we found three little ones in the pool at the one time was easier to cope with. They love to play and do silly things. I used to hate it when one would go underwater and stay still to see how long they would last, I would be thinking 'how long have they been under now?'. Oh the joys, it brings back memories.
Another big responsibility is to ensure that the water is clean and you need to constantly test it and add chemicals as required. Children are much moer susceptible to the waterborne germs and can become much sicker than adults.
We found the kids loved to be constantly in and out of the water and we found it very disrupting to our day at times but this becomes manageable over time when you set rules.
In our state we are required by law to have the pool fully fences and with a lockable gate. This is a safety measure and absolutely essential when there are little ones around.
You don't need a big house or a pool to invite school kids over. Your children don't need more than one friend at a time either. Actually, I personally think that it is much better to have only one friend over at a time, two at the most. It allows the kids to forge serious friendships. You are only making more work for yourself to have a group of kids over with no long lasting benefit for your children. Birthday parties are a different matter. In that instance we would give our children the choice of having two or three friends over for a sleepover or a two/three hour party with up to 10 children.
Once the kids know that they are welcome to invite their friends over the matter will then be in their hands to deal with as they feel comfortable. We actually found that the kids were happy to make friends from the local neighbourhood when they were little.

Teaching that a disfellowshipped person is dead to God is one of their most dangerous teachings in terms of our relationship with God. These are just men making their own decisions as to whether someone is sorry for breaking bible rules and in some cases, being difellowshipped for breaking only organizational rules.
It is not up to any man to say that we no longer have a relaitonship with God but in JW land this only promotes the idea that we need the organization to have God in our lives.
With your second disfellowshipping, was this because you were still 'sinning' during your first disfellowshipping or simply because you had not been totally honest during your first judicial committee?

Once they started calling themselves Jehovah's Witnesses their focus had to be on Jehovah, not Jesus.

A glaring example of how Watchtower's insertion of "Jehovah" corrupts the NT
by Island Man in"the rnwt replaces "kyrios" (lord) with "jehovah" in translating romans 14:8 as follows:.
"for if we live, we live to jehovah,*+ and if we die, we die to jehovah.
* so both if we live and if we die, we belong to jehovah.".

Designs - The scripture is talking about Jesus but the WTBTS relates that scripture to both Jesus and Jehovah. Of course the WTBTS does not support the Trinity but because they have translated the above scripture as they do, their rendering only supports the trinity.
Maybe you could explain why their translation does not support the trinity and the smoke surrounding me will clear.
