That authority and others show the development of flags. In the hope of assuring victory pagan soldiers at first carried their idols and carved images with them into battle. Then they made miniatures of their carved idols, which they placed on the end of staffs. Later they painted representations of their idols on cloth and fastened these to the staffs. Thus is seen the evolution from carved idols to modern flags.>>

Caleb's Logic - Do the math

dad - a letter?

mom so we are going to write a letter to everyone we know and ask them to give us some of their money, so that we have as much money coming in as is going out.

Dad - We have thought long and hard on this and we built the new garage so that you would have a nice place to park your own car in the future. Of course you won't get a car until you learn to drive and get your license but before we are prepared to help you with that you must get baptized.

Mum - Yes Caleb, we only had you in mind. Would you like to start foregoing your ice-cream money now so that we can all work towards this wonderful goal?

WT Society Makes Light of Child Abuse Crimes by Portraying them as Cartoons

i commented on this on another thread- but i believe this has enough importance to create a thread about this situation in and of itself.

at the current district convention as you know the wt society released a " sophie & caleb " video allegedly warning parents about the dangers of child abuse.

they don't really use the words " child abuse " in the video - but just say if " someone tries to touch you in a manner you aren't comfortable with " and portray it as a cartoon !

Caleb, Sophia! It’s YOUR fault for getting abused; your conscience was too weak! Bad boy! Bad girl!

The new video featuring the animated pair is really sneaky. Yes, kids should run away from predators. BUT, no focus is given on the predators themselves (such as known abusers within the organization). The way it is portrayed on the video, the burden is put on children to prevent abuse, according to their “trained” conscience. It doesn’t illustrate the reality that the parents could be the abusers themselves. It doesn’t show that there are times when it is physically impossible to get away from a predator (Elder Handy in the car group).

And what if the abuser threatens to kill beloved Mommy or Daddy (or baby brother) if Sophia does tell on them? Well, Sophia then has to decide: save them or myself? Sophia loves them so she’ll likely keep quiet, because predators are PROS at manipulation and deceit. This will go on and Sophia will comply with the predator thinking she’s protecting her family. You can picture Sophia in group therapy 15 years later with an addiction to meth to cope with the years of abuse, made worse by listening to talks that will make her think she is guilty for the abuse. All those talks on fornication will make her wonder, was I committing fornication? Why DIDN’T Mommy protect me? Why did Brother Creep give a talk on telling the truth at all times then tell me to lie to my parents?

She will have seen him at assemblies or meetings: maybe even giving a talk about porneia? Poor Sophia: her conscience wasn’t strong enough. She didn’t outwit a cunning adult with years of manipulative skills! And then, why didn’t Jehovah protect her? Was she not worthy of protection, given all the theocratic examples of children who were spared suffering ‘because they listened’? Apparently not, because it happened to her. Sophia will end up depressed, lonely, fearful, and likely lacking in any sort of faith. If she even remains in the organization (she’ll have so little self-worth she may stay in it out of fear), she’ll become one of the “weak” ones looked down upon by the strong because she’s not perky and happy and glowing with the good news. She’ll go downhill, while the way this organization works, the abuser will be promoted.

Ironically, the watchers of this stupid video will likely be praising the organization for its helpfulness and loving concern, ignoring that Elder Handy and Brother Creep are right there in their hall, maybe sitting next to them at meeting. Other elders in the hall may know, but they won’t warn parents. Because the loving organization that has cared SO much for SO long has said not to divulge those little details. You’re on your own, Sophia and Caleb! Good luck with that!>>

Did you happen to ask him what happens to those who lie about the works required to get saved?

There's no point in asking him why they are bothering to build Warwick as Morris III said in one of his assembly talks that they are hoping God may preserve it through Armageddon.

How is a child chid who has already been abused going to feel after seeing this video? Probably very bad because they hadn't been able to respond to the situation as portrayed in the video.

July Broadcast Denies That JW Children Die Rather Than Have Medical Care

anthony morris 3rd delivered the broadcast this month and advised that lies are circulated that they let children die rather than have medical care .

he says this is so inaccurate as to be a boldfaced lie ...... further he says it is "up to the parents to determine what would be the best treatment for their children" .

now, does this mean that parents are really free to make a decision to accept blood for their minor child, if they so choose?

My impression is that Anthony morris wanted to address all those people attacking/persecuting him. He seemed very sober and unhappy.

A difficult yet necessary decision

the past five weeks have been perhaps the most painful in my life as a witness.. some months ago a young man (i'd say in his late thirties or early forties) began attending meetings at my kingdom hall.

he had just moved to my area from another state.

he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

No doubt they will put the fault down to one or two elders, they're just imperfect men after all. The problem is that there shouldn't be any douchbag elders in the first place. They are so reluctant to remove bad elders.

Brother jeremey, If you are going to write a letter you might want to include the instructions on reinstatement written in the secret shepherding the flock book.

this kind of scriptural error is the direct result of superficial bible reading.

according to luke 21, first comes the persecution then the wars, earthquakes, food shortages, fearful sights etc.

The blob in the cartoon is ridiculous and doesn't help the child visualize the reality of the situation. Molestors don't look like scarey monsters. They also tell the child to rely on their own conscience, unfortunately the molester knows how to manipulate the child's thoughts and this isn't helpful at all.

The society knows how easy they are to manipulate, they're already asking for their ice cream money. They can't be relied upon to make a serious video about child abuse.

Come on guys, you're being a bit mean, don't you think? He told us how much good works they do. Gosh, they even provide material for the blind and deaf even though it is at a great cost to them.
