Watchtower Charter-A Danger to GB?

my question: is the governing body in danger of removal if they do not adhere to the charter?.

This is what the WTBTS has printed about appointments.

"At the annual meeting held on October 2, 1944, in Pittsburgh, the members of the Pennsylvania corporation adopted six resolutions amending its charter. The charter had provided that voting shares be issued to contributors of funds to the Society’s work, but the third amendment eliminated that provision. A report on that annual meeting noted: “Membership in the Society will be limited to not more than 500 . . . Each one chosen must be a full-time servant of the Society or a part-time servant of a company [congregation] of Jehovah’s witnesses and must show the spirit of the Lord.”

Thereafter, directors of the Society were to be voted into office by individuals who were fully devoted to Jehovah, irrespective of the amount of money that they contributed to advance the Kingdom work........

In 1971 the same speaker explained that the members of the Watch Tower Society could not vote in the members of the anointed Governing Body. Why? “Because,” he said, “the governing body of the ‘slave’ class is not appointed by any man. It is appointed by . . . Jesus Christ, the Head of the true Christian congregation and the Lord and Master of the ‘faithful and discreet slave’ class.” Clearly, then, the members of the Governing Body cannot be voted into office by the membership of any legal corporation."

There is no need for the directors of various corporations used by Jehovah’s Witnesses to be members of the Governing Body. At the recent annual meeting of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, members of the Governing Body who were serving as its directors and officers voluntarily stepped aside from their positions. The vacancies were filled by mature brothers of the “other sheep.” (John 10:16) Thus the Governing Body can spend more time in preparing spiritual food and in otherwise caring for the spiritual needs of the worldwide brotherhood.—1/15, pages 29, 31."

According to this information the Directors of the WTBTS are voted in by the members of the WTBTS. The Governing Body is not voted in by any men which means their formation would not be established through the Charter or it's by laws.

How are Governing Body members elected? They won't say, well they do say, and it's by Jesus.

So how is the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses recognized by the JWs? By their names being printed in WTBTS publications and through JW org, which are both controlled by the directors of the WTBTS.

If the Directors of the WTBTS decided that the current GB were not acting in harmony with the Charter and chose new members would this also be accepted by the JWs? When you are in control of the printing press, the media and all the assets it is a possibility.

There's something very bizarre about Watchtower's use of the word pioneer.

i have researched the meaning of the word pioneer in a number of online references.

none of the meanings seem to match watchtower's use of the word.

the word refers to persons who are trailblazers; persons who are the first to settle new territory; persons who initiate some new field or technology.. jws' use of the term to refer to publishers who spend a long time preaching every month, does not in the slightest bit, match the definition.

"These are JWs who decided to spend more time in preahing the Word of God. They make a commitment to spend more time than the usual hours they take in preaching. Being a pioneer is not mandatory to a JW. However, we view it an opportunity so serve God more, by giving more time in preaching His divine will and purpose.

Why is “pioneer” an appropriate designation for Jehovah’s Witnesses who can be full-time preachers? The word originally had a military connotation, relating to a soldier, though not an ordinary foot soldier. It connoted a military engineer, one who preceded the main body and built bridges, roads and trenches. Hence, “to pioneer” came to mean to prepare or open the way, and a “pioneer” was one who took the lead, forging ahead in the face of odds or opposition, as the early settlers of the North American West did. The term suggests an individual who is intrepid, one who presses ahead until his goal is realized. It is an apt description for self-sacrificing “soldiers” of Christ Jesus full time. "

They are also publisher's, pioneer publishers. They really distort the English language.

What Would Happen if the Watchtower Loses Their TAX EXEMPT STATUS?

would it really affect them?

how would it affect volunteers at any construction project since that work would now be taxable.

any materials they buy would be taxable.

It would be devastating for them. From reading their Charter for the WTBTS Pennsylvania and New York (and most likely many of their other corporations) I understand that they can only operate if they are tax exempt otherwise all their assets must pass on to a different entity that is tax exempt.

looks like the faithful jws are back in the basement, the oct 15th wt has this image on page 9. but now the lights have been turned out!

i guess the persecution is really kicking in if the electric company has shut off their electricity, or the jws are really, really paranoid that the government is gonna get them if they have the lights on!.

only one guy is smart enough to use his tablet (far right), the rest of the jws are old school, using a lantern to read their bibles in the dark!

Strange Moment During The 2015 Regional Convention

hi, i'm new here but hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.

during the "imitate jesus" rc there was a strange moment where they played a video of a brother trying to explain the 1914 teaching.

the brother quickly goes through all the scriptural "proofs" and the householder is dumbfounded.

The video puts the blame for not understanding the doctrine squarely on the teacher, who isn't teaching but only preaching. It's not the fault of the orgs publications or the reader's, its the person that tried to teach you.

today, i have made available through my website, www.watchtowerdocuments.com, an e-document containing the handwritten watch tower corporation charter, plus the following material as explained on my website.

"on december 13, 1884, charles taze russell and his wife, maria f. russell, founded a corporation in pennsylvania which they named, zions watch tower tract society.

the charter for that corporation was amended in 1896 changing the name to watch tower bible and tract society.

What the Governing Body found out when they ' did the math'

"the amount flowing out will be much greater than the money flowing in"

This is such a simplistic view that they have presented.

If I was going to buy or build a house in the next fiscal year and had saved up that money to fully cover the cost, or had already sold my home, I could also claim that my expenses for that year would be much greater than the amount I am earning. I would be better off at the end of that fiscal year if my living expenses were less than my income.

What the organization fails to say is whether they will be better off at the end of the fiscal year than they will be at the beginning. Because a lot of their expenses will be for Assets (Kingdom Halls and other land and buildings) that they will now own at the end of the year it is more than likely that their total net worth will be greater at the end of the year.

Jehovah's Witness woman refuses blood, then dies.

another jehovah's witness woman has died while giving birth due to massive blood loss and refusing a blood transfusion.

she leaves nine children behind.

she finally consented to the transfusion but it was too late to save her.

Lisa Rose, you're being a bit harsh to what is a reasonable question. The woman needed a blood transfusion in the past after childbirth.

You made your own judgement that this woman was a victim and accuse someone else of being judgemental.
