My dad had a window cleaning business which he sold to a brother; my mom and I had our own small business for about 4 years which we sold to a brother which he then sold to another brother. We had several friends that cleaned windows on the high rise buildings in the city. So yeah, I'd say it's pretty common. It's good money with a short amount of time spent. It was then, don't know how it is now.

WT Men as Squegee Men - Is it true?

Blind Allegiance to G.B. supported by scripture?
by honorsthesis inhey everyone,.
i have been getting in on going debates with brothers in the congregation about the role of the governing body.
i feel that jehovah would not want us to blindly follow a particular g.b.

The whole heart of the matter is: what evidence is there the GB/FDS were appointed by Jesus in 1919? Everything else hangs on that. If they weren't appointed, why should we follow them when they're wrong?

So me, of all people, had a religious experience
by sabastious ini was sitting in my garage, as i often do, to chill out and i actually ended up becoming angry.. so here i am, in my garage, kicking it on the stool for the drum set that is in there (i am a pianist/composer, not a drummer).
i start to think about all the crazy stuff that transpires on this planet.
we have all seen shows and heard stories or maybe even witnessed events that don't add up.

Sab,
I really hate to tell you this, but only demons communicate through cards and board games. j/k!
Can I say this is a perfect example of why I loove this forum? I find a lot of people aren't willing to share their religious experiences with just anyone. But here comes Sab, who just had one but wants to explore the possibilites before coming to any conclusions and invites everyone's input. I love it!
But is it really new data? I mean, how do you test that to prove or disprove an intelligient life or supernatural occurence? And if you can, what does that mean? Does it change your life?

My daughter. I will not risk her life over a Mosaic dietary law. I will not let her fear her father's or my destruction at Armageddon because we refuse to have anything to do with this religion. I will not influence her to rejoice over the death of millions of people. I will not teach her that she is a sinful, second-class person deserving of death and the only worthwhile thing she can do with her life is peddle magazines 70 hours a month.

Heads up! Jesus is angry at the churches for their hospitals and feeding the poor......
by miseryloveselders innext week's congregation bible study will explain and illustrate why christendom is toast, and how we can contribute to the joy of christ by supporting "the faithful and discreet slave.".
the anger and the joy of the messianic king.

Brotherdan,
Have you seen in articles how they apply that scripture to the FDS and by default the GB?

It's curious. They say Jehovah needs an organization to accomplish the preaching work. Where's the organization to fulfill the rest of their Christian duties, such as caring for the poor, the sick, the least? Why isn't that just as important as preaching? Oh right! Itsacult!

I swear some JWs don't believe in forgiving and forgetting. It's like a tattooed scarlet letter.
by miseryloveselders inmy dad ticked me off the other night, to the point i had to hang up.
i didn't abruptly hang up, but rather i told him i had company.
we were discussing a sister at my hall who did something years ago.

There's little room for mistakes in that religion. Every little thing you do wrong and every person who dresses worldly or likes worldly entertainment can lead to destroying your relationship with God. They forget that the whole message of the NT is that God loves despite mistakes and obeying rules does not earn salvation. That's the whole problem with legalistic religion.
I personally destroyed two friendships because they were doing some minor thing that I was worried would lead them into trouble, things that didn't really matter in the long run. But I thought it was the loving and right thing to confront them and help them see their error. Nevermind that it was none of my business and extremely judgemental. And when they didn't heed my "bible-based" advice (actually Watchtower-based), I refused to continue the relationship because they were bad association. What a shitty thing to do.
