Omg! That is the ultimate...I can't even think of word to describe that! See, that's what happens when you're not part of the new covenant, Jesus isn't your mediator and the New Testament doesn't apply to you, according to Christianity. You don't get declared righteous or forgiven until they get up there and work on your behalf, and even then you're not in the clear until after Satan is destroyed. It's blasphemy! (And I don't even believe this stuff, still pisses me off!) Nevermind that "the love of God that is Christ our Lord", mentioned in verse 39 of that chapter, is that all men be saved. How is it possible to get so far from the whole point? How?

interesting for gb/anointed do they know they wrote this since the believe thier imperfect men running the org. but not according to this tidbit
by TheLoveDoctor inso it can be seen that a person does not become alive from gods standpoint until such time as he is free from condemnation resulting from sinfulness.
in the case of those who will rule with jesus christ, jehovah god, on the basis of his sons sacrifice, declares them righteous and thus views them as being perfect, without sin, while yet in the flesh on earth.

Hi, sista! And welcome! I wonder how far apart we are, I'm in GA.
Ah, the control. It's learned from the top down. Just remember, personal boundaries! No one gets to treat you how you don't want to be treated or force you to do something you don't want to. I love your attitude about it, you're looking forward and positive.

Homeschooling and JW children
by Pams girl inhow many jw kids are homeschooled where you are?
its not very common here in the borough where i live.
i just found out on the grapevine that a girl i know is taking her kids out of our very good primary school because she feels the other children are having such a bad influence on her kids.

I begged my parents to homeschool me. Middle school was rough, I didn't want to go through high school. I even signed up to regular pioneer to kind of force them to do it. It was all left to me to do. I used a correspondance school where I took tests over the phone and mailed in assignments. I do regret that though, I'm socially inept. JW world would have made me that way anyway but homeschooling just made it that much worse. Plus, if I had been more rebellious and a better liar, high school might have been pretty awesome. That's one reason I signed up for classes at the community college, to learn some social skills. I do worry that my lame high school diploma will make it difficult to get into a good university, plus I have no SAT scores.
Our schools here are well above average, so I have no plans on homeschooling my daughter. But if there were a situation where I needed to, I would make sure she had plenty of interaction with her peer group. That's what was missing with my education.

Where do the JW's pull their statistics from?
by stillstuckcruz ini noticed how, of course, the public talk outlines contain the same information for all the brothers to use.
but their statistics on matter aren't very up-to-date i imagine.. example: i remember the talk about parents or young people or something.
many of you may remember the statistic it provides.

It's really easy to twist statistics too. The media does it a lot. There's often some little bit left out that completely changes what it means.

Welcome, Bulchoz! Bienvenidos!
I'm not Mexican, just American and Southern at that, lol! I served with my family in a spanish group for several years and we went to an international convention in Puebla in 03, I think that was the year. Anyway, that trip was so much fun and we experienced some awesome hospitality. Some local Witnesses invited us to a party with a live mariachi band and tons of tamales. I miss homemade tamales. I absolutely loved Mexico. I still have all the blouses and skirts I bought there and the little trinkets the friends gave out at the convention. My spanish is really rusty though, I haven't used it in a long time. My family that's still in is fluent. Well, as far as Testigo Espanol (or is it espanol de testigos?) goes. I really should pick that up again.
Totally off topic, but it floored me when we stopped by an internet cafe in Merida and the keyboard was so different. It was so hard to type in English on it, lol! Little things you don't notice in your native country.

A non-JW gets it!
by MrFreeze inin my attempt to seperate myself from the jw's completely, i am finding all kind of awesome people.
of course, if we are talking by jw's standards these people are "awful".
anywho, there are a couple of them who are absolutely fascinated with the fact that i used to be a jw.. the reason they are fascinated is because they are aware of cultish mind-control and understand just how difficult it is to walk away from it all.

I have friends that when they find out are just shocked, about the shunning and rules. They cannot fathom how anyone could do that to their own family. I have one other friend that I've shared all this stuff with as I've discovered it, she's known me for years and she's got a pretty strong Christian background but is totally non-denominational in her outlook ( she's suggested I join the UUs or take up buddhism). So when I tell her things that they believe, I get to hear how it doesn't fit from a Christian perspective.
But no, I don't personally know anyone who really gets it. I almost think you have to be a former cult member to really get it. How do they get it, mrfreeze? Have they studied the psychology of it or have family members that were involved? I would love to meet people who get it.

What Witness would check if the statistics are accurate? God's channel and all Never doubt it! Even if it sounds incredible.

In general, what is the ethically correct response if a minor tells you someone is molesting him/her?
by InterestedOne ini was thinking about what the elders are trained to do versus what i personally would do if a minor confided in me that someone was molesting him/her.
i'm not sure what the ethically correct first response should be.
my first thought is to contact some kind of law enforcement that specializes in investigating situations like this with people experienced in getting to the truth of the matter.

They call headquarters for instructions. That's in the Shephard the Flock book. I assume headquarters would tell them what they're legally required to do and that depends on the state. The state I live in does not require clergy to report. Some parents do skip talking to the elders and go straight to the authorities, but I think it depends on if the molester is a Witness or not.
Personally, I would call CPS first, DFCS here.

Lol! Apparently not. I admit, I did not keep up with my magazine reading. Shame on me. I still can't believe I never caught that, and I'm a total grammar nazi! I would love to know who came up with that and how they translated that word in other languages.
