... talking about this God from the bible - so AWESOME, so LOVING, so full of plans not to harm me but to give me a future
Sounds like your bible is better than my bible. That's not how the god in my bible comes across to me at all.
i am now sitting at home.
my wife left with my little child.
my fault (i dislike the word "fault", but don't have a better one right now).. it feels strange, relieved and free, at the same time it was all very strange.

can someone explain this scripture to me:.
and i have other sheep, which are not of this fold; those also i must bring, and they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd.
(john 10:16).
And God will wipe out every tear from their eyes."
I think he's already done this to me. Probably to get back at me because I became an atheist. I haven't cried in years. Eyes are so dry I need those artificial tears all the time. Dry Eye Syndrome is a bitch. Some prophesy. Kidding aside it's an interesting question, and the reason I visited this thread. How otherwise intelligent men can become so obsessed with interpreting something so artificial as the passages in the Bible eludes me, but then again I don't believe it is the Word of God. The power this little book has is extraordinary. It is almost like an idol. Get people to accept that it is the Holy Word of God and then get them to understand it the way you want them to understand it and next thing you know you have absolute power over them. Even when they escape the reality you built for them they will hold onto a belief in the Bible. At least until they decide it's a work of ancient fiction.
Good question, though. It helps me understand what a Jehovah's Witness understands and that might help me free him (or her) from the cult that has enslaved him.

You have the courage of your convictions and have become an honest man. Congratulations. Steel yourself against what is to come, as many of those above advise. It is going to be tough, but it is going to be what shapes you for the rest of your life and you are about to become a better man. If the respect these people have for you is conditional on you being a JW, then they will have no respect for you until you fold your tent and come home to them. That's not going to happen if you want to stay an honest man. Your former JW friends and family are holding your life out at ransom and they are not bluffing when they tell you they will not be the ones to blink first. They have no respect for you so you should reciprocate. Take charge. It's tough for a dad to get custody of the kids but not unprecedented. Do what you need to do discretely then get custody of your daughter, move away and start a new life.

so we can all move on.
Many of us in here, like you Larsinger58, were staunch believers in creation for decades. Where we differ from you is while we scoffed at evolutionary theory, like you, we were confident enough in ourselves to actually examine the evidence in detail and it was through that exhaustive examination that we slowly came to understand why it makes much more sense than special creation. Most of us who have made that journey have also abandoned god along the way, but some in here clearly have not. Such ones are a cross between people like you and people like me. They held onto their belief in god but could not hold onto their belief in creation. Now, I could sit here at my keyboard and attempt to help you clear the fog out of your brain but it would be about as effective as speaking to you in a language you either cannot or will not understand. I suggest, earnestly, that you make an honest attempt to understand what you're talking about before you talk about it. As it is, your ignorance is showing rather profoundly.

One of my all time favourite Cheers scenes. Thanks for the repeat chuckle.
So evolution is not believed as being realistic for the better informed.
That statement is pretty funny, too.

i hope that the governing body will see this.
it is too bad it has to be on an anonymous forum.
Congratulations to all of you.
i read this article and thought... "only a matter of time before jws start getting hauled off to jail for attempted murder and manslaughter charges.".
one would think..."why is this person fighting so hard for their child to die???
maybe they don't want the kid and figure they'll be free from the responsiblility?".
"truth never changes, our views of it may change...".
can this argument be used by religions like watch tower that often change the slant of their doctrinal interpretations to justify the change?.
barbara.
Yes, Barbara, that is consistent with what is being said by the Watchtower. They say the light keeps getting brighter and brighter but they somehow are unable to see that for the most part the light goes on and off and back on again. Proclaiming that Christ began his invisible presense in 1870 (as Russell did til his death in 1916) and then in 1943 saying, no, it actually began in 1914, is not light getting brighter. Saying the world would end in 1914 (as Russell prophesied) and then Rutherford prophesying in 1920, no, it will actually end in 1925, is not light getting brighter. Saying that the Watchtower was chosen by Christ himself in 1919 to be God's organisation when at the time the Watchtower was still saying he came in 1870, not 1914 when Christ was later said to have begun his examination of Christendom, at the time the Watchtower was still observing Christmas, Easter and birthdays, when it was still using the Cross as a Christian symbol and the Great Pyramid of Giza as the source for its numerological prophesies, at the time the Watchtower was making false prophesies about millions now living not dying and the end of the world, at the time the Watchtower was feeding thousands of portions of wrong food served millions of times in astonishing contradiction of Matthew 24:45-47 rather than confirmation of it, is not light getting brighter, except on how brightly it shines on the falsehood of the Watchtower.

Children are the ultimate sacrifice to the blood idol of the Watchtower. The Watchtower has elevated what the bible calls the sacred symbol of life to something greater than what it symbolises and has demonstrated inerrant resolve to sacrifice the lives of men, women and children to it. It is idolatry, plain and simple, and yet more compelling evidence that the Watchtower is anything but what it represents itself to be.
Look at the faces of these innocent children. Youths who put the Watchtower first and paid the price with their lives and misery of their deluded parents.
my interest in posting here has deadened lately.
this will likely be my last thread.
initially i participated here because i was interested in sharpening my perception against opposing points of view.
