i would like to start a boilerplate thread to discuss evolution.
there seems to be a great deal of interest in the subject.. so, i ask our members, what do you think about the veracity of the biological theory known as evolution?.
is it true?

I love Richard Dawkins. Some of his shows on BBC Horizon were great. So interesting from the p.o.v. of a biologist.
If any of you chaps like atheist progs, there's a good one available on the torrent sites called 'a rough history of disbelief', and a spin-off from that called 'the atheism tapes'. Short interviews with Colin Mcginn, Steven Weinberg, Daniel Dennett, Arthur Miller, Denys Turner and the almighty himself, Richard Dawkins. They are all asked about how they became atheists from their earliest memories/feelings etc.

You could maybe say that you were messing around and winding some gays up on the site. Say you've done it before, and you thought it was funny. Maybe say that you chat to them, gain their confidence, then make dates with them and don't turn up, coz it's funny. Maybe say you got a guy to fly 200 miles to meet you and you didn't turn up...you're sorry etc.
They probably might not buy that, or any other excuse. Hard to say.
The other alternative is to look at some nasty hetero porn, leave the drive not cleared, and confess you've been looking at porn. They'll see the chicks, you might get a reprieve...maybe out of relief. Depends how good an actor you are, and what they've already decided to do to you.

I think I recently read AllTimeJeff's story, I think it was him. His brother was a JW, got kicked out and tragically ended up committing suicide. As long as everybody gets out at a time that suits them, (assuming they don't get booted first), I think it's usually the right decision. Making rash decisions usually aren't the best ones. I'm not sure elders are much different to regular Dubs, or should be singled out. After all, all JWs go in the ministry and take the risk they might snag somebody into this awful cult. Staying in and influencing people already under the spell, I think is another matter. I know when I realised it was all a pile of crap, my ministry took another angle. I didn't leave mags with people and talked boring gibberish to householders. It worked a treat. Now that's damage limitation! The elders on here know the deal, they're probably having to hold back the puke during meetings. It can't be fun for them.

my kids come to visit each second weekend.. if they look at my files they could easy find my massive file on jw's (and i hope they have).
i have recently thought of leaving as a screensaver during the visits something like an old wt cover (say, the 1914 one) or a big ''jwfacts.com" accross it.
or perhaps some wt quote to get them thinking...or asking questions.
Maybe you could take all your regular folder stuff off the desktop and put it all in a folder marrked 'stuff'. Then have a folder called 'Watchtower false promises' or whatever. The thing is, if you make the desktop picture blank, and have very little in the way of folders, your decoy folder will stand out more. The fact that you have it tucked all away in a folder will make them want to see it more, like you're trying to hide it, or that you're being discrete. Your sub folders could just read '1975 prediction' '1925 failed prophecy' etc. I would just fill 'em with jpegs, no text documents. It'll just whet their appettite.

Bottleofwater, Welcome! I've known some gay people in my time, and some while I grew up who were confused about what they wanted out of life/what they were gonna do about it. If you try to stay in the WT$ for whatever reason, you will regret it somewhere down the line. Even (worldly) parents give their kids a hard time about their sexuality, WT$ will be even worse. WT$ will make you hate yourself, plain and simple. I know people that were in the WT religion that were lesbian, and they took their life back when they walked out. It really is up to you how you deal with it. If you allow the 2 elders to talk to you, they will make it go their way. Nobody says you have to see them. It'll probably just piss you off when you hear what they have to say to you. If somebody told me I couldn't practise heterosexuality, I'd be bloody livid.
They are trying to foist a bronze-age religious view on you and your life. Use your power of choice.
newsmaxs magazine just published an article that the watchtower is the most read magazine out there it evens surpasses time.. i have never heard of newmaxs but i just was emailed this and thought you might find it interesting.

The saddest thing is where you can play a game. I call it the hansel and gretel game. In a busy town, follow the discarded Wacktower and Asleeps! flapping away on the floor, in rubbish bins etc. Eventually you will find your Dub, with a happy kingdumb smile and an empty bag. At least in about 10 years time, when magazines are a thing of the past and we've all got ipads and tablets, Dubs will be hanging around with a memory stick offering to 'juice you up' with creamy rich spiritual goodness.
The trees will be gone, and so will the oxygen, but at least we'll have kingdumb truth.

i thought it would be an interesting exercise to ask everybody on here what their 'top 10 reasons why jws don't have the truth' actually were.
maybe we can see some correlating views/patterns/ideas that may help us de-programme the newbies that come on this site.
if eventually most people have an outstanding gripe/concern it'll help everybody understand the ex-jw mindset a little better.

Everybody's trying to make it simple for you! I think it's commendable that you try to persuade people on here, you obviously have a strong faith, but you do know that you're partaking from the table of demons? Don't you? I used to go to visit Russellites on the ministry but was expressly forbidden by the elders. I was quite sure of my faith and the accuracy of my arguement. You seem to be doing the same thing, with the same mindset as I once had, debating issues with who you considered unbelievers. I really do hope a lot of your conversations you've had on here will at some point help you to question your beliefs in doctrine. We have all more or less come to the same conclusion that the Watchtower Society is a rudderless ship. We have all come to this idea independently, with no influence by a certain group. This is all independent conclusions.There are thousands and thousands of us that arrived here by our own thought processes. Doesn't this at least make you the slightest bit suspicious of the WatchTower doctrine?
As I say, keep coming and posting. You afford more people the chance to re-affirm in their own minds the fact that the WatchTower is misguided, by their written answers to you.
