  JW family indoctrination is harming my daughter

  i will cut to the chase quite quickly.. i was a jw up until 2007 when i officially cut my ties, although i was a regular visitor to this site for 3-4 years beforehand.. i married a jw in 2004, had a child, and in 2007 we separated and divorced.

  my daughter went to live with her mother.. my ex-wife also left the jw's in 2007 following the breakdown of our marriage.. my daughter is six now and i speak to her every week on the phone - she lives 100+ miles away from me with her mother, her step-father and two younger siblings.. i live with my partner and my two-year-old son.. during school holidays, my daughter comes to stay with me for sometimes a week or on occasions longer.. her maternal, great-grandmother and great auntie are staunch/strict jw's and i know they have been trying to fill my daughters head with watchtower teachings for the past couple of years.. i have contacted her mother and made it clear that i am not happy with this approach.

  my daughter celebrates christmas/birthdays etc and any jw teaching is going to be contradictory to this.

  Uk, i feel for you but if you are two hours away and dont have almost daily contact with her you have a huge uphill battle. As you are finding out, you can send letters, leave messages, cease and desist or have your ex "lay down the law" but unless you are close to enforce it you have a tough road ahead of you. The devout jw does not give two shits about your being the father. After all your child will be told "Your father doesnt love you enough to live near you" "your father doesnt love Jehovah" I was in a similar situation although I lived alot farther away. I made the move a few years ago and believe me brother, it was worth it. If you have a kid that there is the slightest possibility they will be taught the jw lifestyle then there is nothing more important than getting them out. NOTHING!!

  think they'll encourage JWs to have kids?

  don't go to college and don't have kids.

  pioneer as this system winds to an end.

  I agree. My kids still go to meetings with their mother but I can see them thinking their way through some of the doctrines that dont make sense. Cognitive dissonance works when they are surrounded by the bubble. When kids are encouraged by ANYONE to finish their thought process to completion it goes a long way towards making them immune to the jw model. Pop the bubble!

  I attended a friend's birthday party, and no one was beheaded!

  it turns out that this isn't a common occurrence at these things.

  don't get me wrong, i still had a good time.

  but i was so looking forward to seeing my first decapitation..

  keyser... at my kids first birthday party when she was 6 i was actually worried that there would be a car accident or some other freak thing and a person would get decapitated in front of the pizza joint we went to!

  I am happy to report both my kids love birthdays now but I just know the first birthday they goto with a beheading ill be in trouble!

  She might be a scam artist

  i have an ad on craigslist, someone responded to my ad.

  she knows the neighborhood pretty good and we already traded some pics, but i have the feeling that she is a scam artist.

  she only send me half of her face(nice mouth and teeth but not her nose, eyes, hair) and a very nice body.

  on monday i'm going to register to vote since i'm able to do so when i renew my drivers license.

  i'm actually kind of excited since i never did register because of they way i was brought up.. how many of you are registered to vote?.

  Morbid , I think you hit the nail on the head! This is somehow turned into a political issue. Let this play out in local courts and be done with it. Zimmerman was clearly a volly cop buff but there is not a nation wide epidemic of volly neighborhood watchmen killing young black men. It should be handled locally and our opinions are worth about as much as a pound of miracle wheat. There is however a nationwide epidimic of poor blacks shooting poor blacks. Maybe the new black panthers could focus on shoring up the father figures in their community instead of putting a bounty on a man who has been convicted of NOTHING. Maybe its the 1%er's fault.... Speaking of 1%ers, maybe Sharpton and Jackson could focus on that instead but I dont think that gets them as much publicity.

  are jw ashamed of the ot ?

  whenever i talk to a jw when i rarely see one i bri g up the laws in the ot, like raping of virgins in deut being ok and forced to marry the rapist.

  it seems they just are not aware of these laws or any in depth the history or customs of the ancient jews.

  is the wts ashamed of the ot and the truth about the jews ?.

  JW's love the old testament!! That is how they are to worship because the new testament is not written to 99% of them. I think they chalk up those "few" odd stories up to "we cant think we know more than Jehovah!!"

  ray.. i think you are right. more and more poeple are partaking privately in their home. my parent is one of them that is still in but partakes in the comfort of home, alone. If there was a way to organize a "coming out" party that was synchronized, it would have a profound effect on the good people in the organization. Even if the org came out w/ a national df'ing campaign at least the perhaps tens of thousands of people who would "come out" would know they are not alone.

  i may be misspelling this guys name, but while i was in patterson doing long-term temporary (before i got accepted longer and moved to brooklyn bethel), this guy was my table head.

  he seemed to be really arrogant.

  his attitude towards me was very condescending.
