Just wondering what religion is the Halloween related to? Is it still existing religion? Is there religious content related to Halloween in similar way than to wedding rings for example?

my husband and i faded/mysteriously disappeared from meetings over a year ago.
we've had a few visits from elders (where we said very little but thanked them for their time), the last one being when we had some nice jack o lanterns sitting on our porch.
on saturday, we got letters cordially inviting us to our beheading, i mean, our judicial committee meeting.

i'm not the biggest fan of depeche mode, but a couple of their albums were actually ok. there's one track by them i've always loved called, "strangelove" from their music for the masses album, and the lyrics remind me of my own thought process at times.
the lead vocalist sings at one point, "i give in, to sin, because you have to make this life livable.
looking back on it, i feel that i needed to watch that fight.
First of all DM forever. Me feelings about this are well described in their relatively new song nothing's impossible
Just give me a reason, some kind of sign
I'll need a miracle to help me this time
I heard what you said, and I feel the same
I know in my heart that I'll have to change
My years long struggle with myself gave my insight that if you really, really want to keep with JW religion there is no middleway. You either accept their moral codec or you create your own. Here is difference though, do my giving in to sin mean that I break against god's codec or against organisation's codec. My god given conscience have not given me bad feelings about many things that are considered suspicious by my dear friends in congregation. I think this should have happened if I had loyalty for the organisation and it's rules as such.
In a way it's a simple thing but at the same time very difficult. Can you really be part of it, if you do not want to go by their book, follow the rules associated with membership. On the other hand, if your conscience allows you to happily follow the membership rules, why wouldn't you be part of it. This is very personal decision indeed.
I know in my heart that I'll have to change
Even the stars look brighter tonight
Nothing's impossible

I guess when you are about 900 years old you just look like that

Too many beards to be convincing. But the girl in front could be, she's obviously very ashamed over her boyfriends wild behaviour.

another thread sparked this memory but i didn't want to hijack.
my first encounter with apostates was back at a district assembly around 1978. they were picketing outside peacefully with banners and such.
no apostates below could see me but i could hear them.
The oldest books in my personal library are written by J.F.R. but I never considered them as apostate material

It must be over 25 years ago. I was in Field service with group of friends in need help-area. One person gave me one apostate book as contradonation for my magazines and asked politelly to read, I did, with no affect though. Later I have met such people in very near family, but that is totally another story.

The lady behind the one answering is actually looking the microphone bearers clothing with disgusted expression. But what is the remote control device she is having on her lap, it looks like Wii control. What would she do with it during the meeting?

join us tonight, saturday dec. 18,2010 at 7p.m.est for our annual christmas program on the six screens of the watchtower conference call.
many former , as well as active jehovah's witnesses call in from all over the world and you will be thrilled to hear what they say concerning christmas and the jehovah's witnesses.
do many jehovah's witnesses secretly celebrate christmas?
As long as I remember we had Christmas Food, surprisingly in Christmas time, in very traditional way. All the family, including the DF/DA'd branches were invited to join the meal and enjoy family time together. No tree and decorations (except much candles), no presents (except what we got from DA/DF families), no singing (which I'm grateful for). I can't really label it as Christmas celebration, but it was not far from it anyway.

Why is the lady in top right not paying attention? She's checking something else out. Could the clock be that low?
My guess is that she is checking someone out, maybe slightly flirty, possibly the visiting speech holder. She also sits one seat away from her husband the "count the people" elder.

before i get to the gem in this week's tms, let me let any of you newbies here up to date with us jdubs and schooling.
in the february 22, 2002 watchtower, the wtbts released the article titled "how my dream was fullfilled".
it was one of many typical jw stories of a good devout jdub "resisting temptation" and accepting the borg as absolute truth.
With all due respect, the above perfectly illustrates the problem here.
Exactly, that is why I think saying that they are most educated people is self-righteous. Saying that they are well informed would already be different, even not exactly right either.
