"Isn't it wonderful how the faithful slave has kept the attention and energy of Jehovah's people so intensely focused on the time of the end after all these years and a few disappointments? Such a task could only be accomplished by those opperating in step with God's holy spirit." - Heard that one at a meeting. Can't remember who said it.

by Chariklo incan anyone explain to me just how and why the jw's confidently believe that jesus came and "inspected" all the other religions and found every one lacking and failing his expectations except the little group of bible students who went on to become the jw's?.
this is the biggest gap between history, logic and common sense and wt belief, to me.
more ludicrous than all the propehecies put together.. i'd be really interested to know all the different strands of this.

Visit from anointed
by wezz inso tonight i get to be graced by the presence of one of the anointed.
last time he visited to help me i told him that i have a problem with the 1914 date.
now obviously every single aspect of this date is wrong, but i started off by asking how come they end it in 537 instead of 539, when the king of babylon obviously received his punishment in 539, as foretold by jeremiah.

Ask him if he a REAL annointed person or one of those emotionally disturbed ones and can he please provide test results from the lab to prove his stability... for lack of any other evidence associated with the claim of spirit enhancement.

Odd question in July 15 2012 WT
by breakfast of champions inwhat if a powerful government were to hatch a plot to exterminate jehovah's witnesses as an organization?.
they ask this question at the bottom of page 23 of the july wt, and i thought the wording was kind of strange.
the target is not jws "the people" (as in nazi germany) but the org alone.

What if a powerful government were to hatch a plot to exterminate Jehovah's Witnesses as an organization?
Then they would likely be one of the first religions destroyed rather than "as an afterthought", the way they interpret Revelation.

Watchtower Dec 2011 Makes fun of fools who think the end is 2012. Ironic??
by Witness 007 inwachtower dec 1 2011 p.10 "french village faces influx of apocalypse believers...they believe the world will end 21 december 2012 when the end of....ancient maya calander...despite predictions by calamity-howling religious leaders, pseudoscientists, and any other prognosticators, earth will be in existence for a long time...when will this occur?
no human knows.
jehovah's witnesses do not try to predict when god will destroy the wicked...{really?

Bungi Bill:Once more, the WTS tries to rewrite its own history.
Sadly, if you didn't know any better, a person could be inclined to believe them.
Excerpt from 1984, by George Orwell:
As soon as Winston had dealt with each of the messages, he clipped his speakwritten corrections to the appropriate copy of the Times and pushed them into the pneumatic tube. Then, with a movement which was as nearly as possible unconscious, he crumpled up the original message and any notes that he himself had made, and dropped them into the memory hole to be devoured by the flames.
What happened in the unseen labyrinth to which the pneumatic tubes led, he did not know in detail, but he did know in general terms. As soon as all the corrections which happened to be necessary in any particular number of the Times had been assembled and collated, that number would be reprinted, the original copy destroyed, and the corrected copy placed on the files in its stead. This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound tracks, cartoons, photographs – to every kind of literature or document which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance. Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way, every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct; nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary. In no case would it have been possible, once the deed was done, to prove that any falsification had taken place….
…
A number of the Times which might, because of changes in the political alignment, or mistaken prophesies uttered by Big Brother, have been rewritten a dozen times still stood on the files bearing its original date, and no other copy existed to contradict it. Books, also, were recalled and rewritten again and again, and were invariably reissued without any admission that any alteration had been made. Even the written instructions which Winston received, and which he invariably got rid of as soon as he had dealt with them, never stated or implied that an act of forgery was to be committed; always the reference was to slips, errors, misprints, or misquotations which it was necessary to put right in the interests of accuracy.

What has helped you avoid the doctrine roundabout and forever chasing your tail?
by Fernando ini was a third generation born-in with no alternative reality, reference points or framework.. for more than forty years i was taught that the highest stakes (eternal life) main game is played on the doctrine playing field (supremacist ethnocentrism).
my eternal future apparently depended on which side of the trinity, hellfire and immortal soul doctrines i played.. apparently if i believed the watchtower way, even if it changed, i was in "the faith" and "the truth".
the same for legalism (supremacist self-righteousness attained by following the supposedly "right" but ever changing and inconsistent rules).. around 6 years ago, and for the first time in my life, one person asked me to explain what "the gospel" is in one word.

Given the competition for headcounts between various religious corporations, they have created a mental attitude in people that they have to chose a particular church or religious philosophy in order to have God's approval.
EVERY CHURCH OUT THERE IS CUT FROM THE SAME CLOTH! Remarkably, every church out there also contains what can be defined as "true Christians"... and lot's and lot's of the other types as well.
Ask your friend if he considers himself a true Christian. Despite his imperfections, does he feel his heart is genuinely directed toward God? If the answer is yes, then it's settled. Get on with his worship. When he asks you, "W hat is the alternative? Where do I go from here?", explain to him it's not an either/or proposition. Religion, Inc. plants the idea that leaving THEM means you have to go somewhere else. NO! Leaving THEM means you took the garbage out to the curb. Leaving THEM means you are free to worship God from your heart, not from another man's or institution's dictates.
Remember this scripture? 1 Corintians 1:12,13 - “I belong to Paul,” “But I to A·pol′los,” “But I to Ce′phas,” “But I to Christ.” The Christ exists divided.
That's exactly the situation that has been created by churches today. They play their adherents against eachother, each group claims superiority, moral high ground, TRUTH, the only road to salvation, etc. The division caused by this kind of mindest is what Paul counseled against and it is the same mindset that causes your friend to ask, "W hat is the alternative? Where do I go from here?"
Tell your friend he is already where he needs to be. He just needs to do a little house cleaning.

We'll never know how much talent this organization is responsible for stamping out of existence.
"No, Wolfgang! If you perform that concerto and you'll lose your privileges."
"Ludwig, get off that piano and study your Watchtower!"

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

What a terrible loss. It's nice you were able to maintain your relationship with him after your exit. It speaks to his character.

Is Watchtower Having Financial Problems?
by 2tone ini have to wonder if the watchtower is having financial problems of some sort.
at the very least they are spending more than they are taking in.
which would explain all of the cutbacks of the last decade.

2tone: They claim it will cost 6-9 million dollars to build. If they had the money to build it why not build it so they have money coming in...
Our circuit just went through this with the building of our their new assembly hall in Orangeburg, SC. I was awe struck at how the brothers and sisters lined up with smiles on their hearts to be thoroughly screwed... "and what a blessing it is to have the penis of the faithful slave in our collective rear ends."
They don't just build assembly halls out of their own pockets. The circuits that will use that hall must come up with a certain percentage of the money first before they will even buy the land. Then another percentage before they will begin construction. The rest of the project will be completed through a loan from the WTS to the brothers and sisters of the attending circuits. That loan, of course, must be paid back.
Once the entire project is finished and the happy Jehovah's Witnesses in that area have forked over 6-9 million dollars for their new assembly hall, then the Watchtower Corporation bends them over further and sodomizes them deeper by charging them to use the new hall.
Ahhh... paradise!
