Apostates Shut the door of everlasting life in Men's Faces
by mankkeli ini was discussing with an elder today, and as usual the conversation drifted towards apostates and their line of reasoning, he angrily looked into my eyes with the scriptures in his hand and told me:.
(1) that apostates are destructive peddlers who shut the door of everlasting life on people as they are very sure they have no portion in there.
he quoted matt 23:13- 13 woe to you, scribes and pharisees, hypocrites!

"My question is, do you feel that your activities here are synonymous to shutting the door of everlasting life on innocent people?. I just want to know if your motives are pure for what you are doing and if your experience as an ex-JW justify your presence here. Just curious."
If I actually believed JW teachings were the way to everlasting life, I'd not be posting here but sitting at the KH or out in service. Rather, because I've come to the realization that it's all a sham that I wouldn't wish others to waste time, energies, hopes, etc in the pursuit of an empty promise. Armageddon didn't come in 1914, 1925, the 40s, 1975, within the 20th century...why should innocent people believe this organization?
Before I tried my best to teach people in FS the 'precious truths' as I'd been taught as a JW. Now I'm open to sharing with others my knowledge of this organization. Isn't it natural to want to share with others something beneficial? I believe researching one's faith, making sure of what one believes in is of crucial importance.

For those of you who are disfellowshipped!
by TimothyT inhow do you respond when you walk past a jw or bump into a close jw friend who broke of contact with you?.
i remember when one brother was disfellowshipped, he himself honoured the arrangement and walked past the brothers with his eyes fixed to the floor.. im going to be disfellowshipped in 8 days, so i just thought id ask you all.. personaly, im going to be kind and cheery as i always tried to be with people.. timmy xxx.

Tim this can be a difficult at times.. You happen to cross paths with a JW post df-ing or da-ing and your old 'friend' purposefully turns a smug or disappointed face, full of self righteousness and bordering on pity.
My first advice would be to keep your inner calm, running into JWs can be an uneasy experience for some (me included).
Then just be yourself. If you had a great day, make sure to show it.

Stupid suggestion from Study Conductor
by roxanesophia inhi everyone, first i just want to say if it wasn't this forum, i'd be baptized!
i haven't managed to successfully end my studies with a zealous jw.
she uses everything against me to brainwash me into believing i need the org.

"Going to the convention in a bad mood and showing absolutely no interest and maybe after those 3 days of misery I won't even have to tell her I'm not studying anymore. "
Attending it would be showing your study conductor that there's still a chance you might join. That would definitely set her hopes up. Please consider that if you do attend, it'll be harder to tell her you want to quit the 'bible study'. I agree with sizemik & the rest of the posters. "The time has come...just say NO."

Nice to hear about your positive experiences T ADD.
I wasn't a Christian but I used to attend church services time and again before I became a JW. I did meet many people who were friendly & loving and I remember the atmosphere was warm and more accepting than at the KH.
When I was studying with my family they told me 'love was the identifying mark of true christians'. Having a positive experience at churches, I was imagining attending the KH would be phenomenal. After the first few meetings, I realized there wasn't much love shown, it was a business like atmophere with a diligence on proper timing of set talks. So I asked my family "Where is the love, how are these true christians by Bible standarts?" They were surprised because the KH was all they knew.

Finding out about the UN involvement was a serious shake up to my faith in this org, which led me to research more online.
When I presented my family with all the printed documents, they denied it saying it was all lies! You can't trust the internet. But they suggested I communicate this concern to an elder.
After presenting my findings as originating from a study (which wasn't true), at first he denied it expressing his frustration with my exposure to 'apostate propaganda'.
When I pursued the matter more and showed him actual copies, he finally sent me an email with a letter from the Society to the elders, which confirmed that indeed they had been registered as an NGO from 1992-2001 and had disassociated themselves after their involvement became known in an article from the Guardian.
Even though the elder acknowledged the UN involvement, it failed to make an impression with my family. They didn't even admit they had dismissed it before as lies.

JW's week after week trying to convert me
by HBJ inthis is my first post.
i have been a protestant christian my entire life, but over the past few months ive been conversing with two jehovahs witnesses on a weekly basis.
as they quickly learned that i was biblically versed, they replaced what i would call a trainee, with someone i believe to be an elder.

One step closer to freedom!
by OneDayillBeFree init has been some time since my last post on here and its been hard for me to post much since i'm still in and my fellow dubbies are always poking there heads in my business trying to find something wrong to get me into trouble, but i do enjoy lurking on here from time to time... and i do plan to post here much more in the near future!.
actually, being on this site and reading all of your threads (mostly on my phone) has become my favourite thing to do at meetings and on field service and pretty much anything wtbts related!.
you all have been such a great help and comfort to me when i feel down, seriously even the trolls that come around here every now and then leave me with a sense of tranquility, for it reminds me of how i used to be just like them at one point, it gets me all "happified" to know that i have now awakened and see the "truth" about the truth and feel quite at peace with myself at times.. as some of you that have read my first post may know... i've been working on a really, really long fade, and so far its been going steady to say the least.

I haven't had the chance to read your first post so Welcome to this forum!
About Pioneer school...I attended it last year actually. Unlike you, I was totally mentally in at the time so I thought it to be such a privilege to receive this special encouragement and instruction that few others would have to chance to enjoy. Overall, I did like it except that I was trying my best to prepare for any question in the book, look up every single scripture (taken out of context) that I'd not get enough sleep and getting up early for the next morning session was really hard.
If you care about appearances, just jot down one scripture for a few questions instead of going overboard. This way the friends won't look at the white pages. Not really cool to miss out on the fine spiritual banquet, right?
You'll receive the schedule the first day (Monday). There are no classes on weekends, so it's a total of 10 days Mon-Fri between 9:00 am - 4:00 p.m, with a 1 hour lunch break 12:00-1:00.
You have an excuse to miss the mid-week meeting, and even the Sunday one if you're so busy studying...
During the 2 weeks, you'll get to go out in FS 3 times: once door to door, another time to follow up a RV you found from d2d (during the 1st week), and the third time to start a study (on the second week), I know...yeah right!.
Something I remember finding out during my Pio. School was that the tetragrammaton didn't appear one single time in the original copies of the Greek Scriptures. When our instructor said that, I was totally shocked. Others seemed unphased by it though.
Feel free to ask about it, the experience is still fresh in my mind. One suggestion for you is to ask questions, there are opportunities to do that at the end of each study but few take it. The instructors know pioneers wouldn't ask 'apostate questions' so they encourage you to pose questions about things.

Matt 5:5 and the 'meek' again.....
by punkofnice inon a previous thread watchtower articles were provided that showed the 'meek' were the 144k rather than those who are supposed to live on the earth after the alleged big 'a'.. in that thread the troll 'concernedjw' stated that the wtb$ had changed their thinking on this (no surprises there), to now mean 'earthly hope' dudes.. does anyone have the references from the litter-trash for this or was cjw wrong?.

Definitely discreet slave. It's like saying " Matthew 5:5 does not strictly apply to the "other sheep". Or "In this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the mediator only for anointed Christians". (both quotes from WT lit.)
They're going beyond what's written anytime they add phrases like 'stricly', 'in the sense', etc.

Welcome here HBJ!
You wrote "The WTBTS have admittedly stated that they have made changes to Scripture, much of it seems to make sense.."
Which of these changes seem to make sense to you?
Do you think that it's okay for JWs to make changes to the scriptures to fit their doctrines, or to force the Bible to 'make sense'?
