  If it's a non-denominational church it's a bit unlikely he'll debate much theology with you.

  I think, Lore, that it is not about changing sexual orientation (not going to happen), but of getting help so as not to act upon it in the first place.

  Ah.

  Well that's probably right then. More like an alchoholic attending AA meetings. The urge does not go away, but they learn to suppress it.

  In that case I agree, some of the stigma will have to go away surrounding the pedophile orientation before they can start seeking help.

  If someone finds out you are attending AA meetings to combat your alchoholism, they'll likely give you a pat on the back and tell you to stick with it.

  If someone found out you are attending PA meetings to combat your pedophilia, they'll likely assemble the torches and pitchforks to lynch you.

  Psychopathy - a disorder suffered by many (but not all) violent criminals - is characterised by an inability to 'empathise'.

  This kind of makes it sound like they don't know why other people feel the way they do.

  That's not actually the case. Psychopaths understand emotional triggers and can predict how certain actions will effect other's emotions.

  They simply don't reflect the feelings of others.

  they can go to a therapist, in this instance, in Germany they offered help.

  If this article is correct, then a pedophile going to a therapist would be no more effective than a homosexual seeking conversion therapy.

  Proof that Bible is a Hoax

  if the bible is really a very intricate hoax, what is the objective?.

  i've read some theories that it has been used to succesfully make a 'business' of religion.. is this really it?

  by hoax, i meant, is it all made up?

  Well that wouldn't neccesarily allow us to define it as a 'hoax'.

  Star Wars is all made up. But it's not a hoax.

  And I don't know of anyone who claims the ENTIRE bible is 'made up'. It is a collection of books.

  Some of those books contain mixes of truth and fiction. Like some of the early christian writings.

  And others are made up entirely. Like Jonah or Genesis for example.

  Even the ones that are entirely fictional probably were not just 'made up' by some joker. But the stories were passed on to children, changed a lot, passed on some more, then written about, changed again, edited by religious leaders, translated, destroyed, recovered, blanks filled in etc.

  The fact it's not true doesn't make it a hoax, it just makes it wrong. It would only be a hoax if the people writing it and translating it actually knew it was false and were only using it to control people.

  as many of you know, my mother passed away this past week.

  sitting here in the quiet of my hotel room i recalled a repeated wish i had since i was 10 years old.

  "if only mom would die i would be free (of the jws)".

  if we are to serve jehovah because of 'selflessness' and because 'love him' and not because of 'what he does for us', how is the 'promise of the paradise' not selfish?

  the faith hinges on it!.

  I don't trust anyone who purports to be completely altruistic.

  Even when I believed it was the truth, I knew I was only worshiping god for the benefits.

  Which really made the account of Job weird. Since Satan was clearly correct about motivations.

  If there was no ressurection hope, nobody in their right mind woud be a witness.

  along with a pretty zealous group of publishers.

  [even though no one has come out of our territory in 35 years] it seems i am the only one aware of the pattern of false prophecies and mistakes by the society.

  Jesus definitely used hellfire and Abraham in heaven in a parable right here:

  And the witnesses definitely claim that this Jesus was full of crap here:
