hi all, this is my first post.
but i was one of those kids that was born into the whole jw thing, and like a good little witness kid i did everything i was supposed to do to please my parents (mainly my mom my dad's an unbeliever).
my mom was very strict with me when it came to everything they taught, no holiday parttys at school, no sports, no worldy friends, i was only supposed to associate with other jw kids (my mom is one of those extremist jws, she says she doesn't judge, but she's a perfect example of one one of those sisters with the holier than thou attitude).
Yes, I was labelled as 'the rebellious' child. Its funny, though, because I am so similar to "worldly" people & nobody in "the world" would consider me rebellious. I just wanted to be normal. Only in the cult was I considered rebellious. Seriously, if I wanted to sit in on a birthday party, or

Just remember that, at one point in time, we may have done the same thing your sister did. Not sure how close you two always were, but it could
possibly be pure concern for your wellbeing. She doesn't realize that she is brainwashed. My dad did the same thing to me when I moved to a different town. I was furious at the time. But really, I probably did the same thing many years ago as well.

i see some here who seem to despise the religion.
others seem to feel that witnesses are wacky but they don't hate them.. do you hate this religion?.
For the most part, I do not hate them. Only at times, like when I see my little niece and she doesn't really know who I am because her jw parents keep us separated....that's when I hate the RELIGION. For the most part, I think they are just followers who don't really understand all the corruption at the headquarters. Instead of hate, it just breaks my heart

every now and then my mum reminds me of the time when she was called to my nursery school by the head teacher because i had been telling all my friends that they would be destroyed at armageddon.
can you imagine what the other parents must have thought when little johnny and little doris went home crying asking why they were going to be destroyed for not sharing a toy.. my mum seems to think it hilarious and implies that i was the one being naughty for saying it in the first place.
i should never have learnt such things!!
When I was 5 or 6, I told my next door neighbor that her families eyeballs would be rolling around in the streets at Armaggedon and that birds would
be picking at their dead bodies. I think my mother was slightly embarrassed when the neighbor's mother reported this. That's when I learned that
there were some "truths" that worldy people just couldn't be told until the time comes
my fade is going well, but my mom knows full well what my thoughts are on the wts.
it seems that she feels comfortable just ignoring the situation in order to keep seeing her grandchildren.. the other day however we were talking about someone we know who is making it very difficult for her parents to see their grandchild.. then out of the blue, my mom turns in my direction and says, that if any of her kids try to deny her from seeing her grandchildren, she would take them to court and get a court order to force them to let her see them.. i know what the message was, and it was loud and clear.
she is letting me know that if i get disfellowshipped there's no way i can keep the kids away from her.
This made me laugh. Grandparents cannot sue for visitation rights. LoL.
However, hopefully you impress upon her that, if you are disfellowshipped , IT IS HER CHOICE TO SHUN YOU.
Its a sticky situation as to whether you allow the kids to see her. I guess it comes down to: What is most beneficial for the children...?
If Grandma can show them lots of love while they are together, then they should Probably associate with Grandma. However, if she pulls out the My Book of Bible Stories whenever they are there, or makes them feel guilty for celebrating a birthday....well, that's a different situation
i'm still a bit torn on the issue of associating with my parents.
they have made absolutely no effort to keep in touch and usually any contact results in a generic witness email reply.. i have been at the point that i really don't need or care for their influence in my life for a while but i keep flipping back and forth between cutting off all contact and being the bigger person and at least give them updates.. so, in light of their recent aniversary, i went to the store and tried to pick them out a card.
i never really realized how difficult that is if you're looking for a card to actually mean what you say.. unfortunately i didn't find a card that said "sorry you two are trapped in a loveless marriage and i could really care less about your opinions" so i settled for the least bit sappy i could find.. i put the kid's school pictures in and while out running errands dropped it off.
I know how it is to look for an anniversary card for your parents and think "How do I find a card for two people that only stay together
for the sake of religion, when there is no love, they don't even joke with each other, and in fact they hate each other!?"
I say to keep it minimal, but you did the right thing (one day your children WILL ask and at least you'll be able to say you tried).

I went ahead and posted it on my fB page. Got some pretty funny comments from a "worldly" person. The movie's not really apostate...in fact, some witnesses would probably watch it and say "See?? She got what she deserved".

When I was 8 or 9, I heard the story of a girl who owned a Smurf. Once they learned of the demonic qualities, they threw it in a fire in the back yard but the Smurf wouldn't burn.
I also heard that a family (close by of course, lol ) had Smurf wallpaper. One night, while the child was sleeping, the Smurfs became alive and jumped off the wallpaper. They started whispering in a Satanic voice "Kill yourself...nobody wants you here!" The child was trained well because she started screaming Jehovah's name. "NO! NOooOOOOoooo!"- the Smurfs yelled. The little girl kept screaming for Jehovah, and it made the Smurfs go back into the wallpaper. Needless to say, they changed the wallpaper immediately after that.
