  Da Preeching Werk. Need help

  an irritating debate i have with my dad is about the dubs and their preaching work.

  he feels they are the only group actively spreading the bibles message and this is another proof of their being the true religion.

  i have pointed out that other religions actively preach and pointed out flaws in the witness method of preaching blah blah blah.

I have pointed out that other religions actively preach and pointed out flaws in the witness method of preaching blah blah blah. Like all witnesses he is an innerant believer in the bible, so can anyone give me any good scripture based arguments or links to that can help me maybe break thru is mental block? Im sure there are many that I havent thought of.

  Also good counter points on the need for an earthly organization would be great too.

  This is one of my favorite posts.

  I cant imagine how much better my childhood would have been if our family had spent saturday mornings relaxing, having breakfast together and maybe making plans to do something fun. All I remember is anxiety and drudgery. I can still hear my dads foot steps coming up the stairs to wake us up for service and me praying for an aneurysm.

  so i used to work with these two younger gentlemen back when i washed windows for a local elder's company.

  good kids, sons of an elder, responsible and hardworking.

  i ran into him the other day briefly and he said him and his younger brother moved in together (they are about 19, and 18, maybe 20, and 18), and i was surprised.

  Id say they were hardly in a nurturing, loving home environment if theyre developing borderline split personalities or using secret code language to survive day to day life. Hope they dont return.

  experiences of angels and smurfs

  you guys think that all the experiences about angels helping brothers or protecting brothers were true?

  for e.g the experience where brothers were running away from nazis and were being shot at whilst running were said to be protected by an angel running backwards and stopping the bullets.

  or the one where two sisters go to a door and a man that had intentions of killing them hesitated because he claimed he saw an angel behind them or the one where a smurf gets up from his seat at the front of the kingdom hall looks at the brother giving the talk and says "i had enough of this" what do you guys think?

  I used to drink til I blacked out at least twice a week. I havnt done that once since I let go of the religious insecurities dominating my brain. I also am way more concerned with my spirituality and being loving to the people around me.

  i dont want to get into personal information but one major symptom is that he has become religiously deluded about himself.

  to be blunt, he believes he is a special prophet chosen by jehovah.

  Thanks for your comments everyone.

  His "religious delusions" are a small concern compared to his physical and mental condition, but I do find that they are distracting him greatly from taking care of himself. When we talk I wanna tell him to focus on getting better, but he feels its all unimportant now that he has these amazing new spirtual "realizations". Its difficult talking to someone in his state, you have to pick your words carefully, which is hard because that was not what our friendship was before.

I dont want to get into personal information but one major symptom is that he has become religiously deluded about himself. To be blunt, he believes he is a special prophet chosen by Jehovah. This has been beyond shitty to experience. I dont act shocked or argue when we talk but try to let him know that no matter what he believes I still love him as my friend. We have been doing our best to get him help medicaly and mentaly but its very difficult trying to help someone who wont help himself.

  Interestingly enough I know personaly a few other people who have the same delusions of being annointed, a messiah or some other lofty spiritual importance after some sort of mental breakdown.

  Does anyone else have any experiences with this or theories on religious abuse and mental illness etc.
