IS GOD REAL? HOW DO YOU KNOW?
by still thinking inthis is an honest question on my part.
someone on this board asked me 'how do you know' a while ago and i really struggled with it.
in fact, it was a turning point for me.

Timebandit ....gosh man, thats a lot of anger at something you don't think is real.....
I don't really carry a lot of anger around. I guess I have passionate feelings about God if there is one. No devine purpose should include the unspeakable things done by/commanded to do by 'God'. Usually the only time I even think about it is when I see treads about it on forums. I don't mind if people think I'm mistaken concerning my views about 'God'. It's a free country (maybe not). What I beleive makes me happy and that's all that matters.

You know what? I wanted to beleive in God after leaving the bOrG. I wanted to be a spiritual person. Well, I got to thinking about all the nasty killing he did in the Old Testament. After that I didn't want anything to do with Him any more. C'mon, would you worship Adolf Hitler, Jeffry Dahmer or the Boston strangler?
Well, that's what God is like, those people. I sort of felt since He's the High and Mighty Supreme End All Be All of the Universe He ought to be able to come up with a better way of dealing with His enemies in the 'promised land' than having the Isrealite's slaughter them. Or kidnapping the virgins left over after the mayhem, raping them and forcing them to marry thier rapists.
I know that sounds harsh. It should. The 'God" of the Hebrew scriptures is a jealouse narccesistic murdering Borderline Personality Disorder son of a bitch...
So, that's why I feel that either there IS NO god. Or is he there, but just really twisted and on vacation right now? I can't decide between the two scenarios. Maybe Jehovah's parents discovered he was f_cking around with his powers without adult supervision and sent him to his room. What if He's grounded? No lunch money? Nothing?
He needs anti psychotic meds and some bi-polar disorder meds, or maybe go back to the ganja like when he designed the Duck Bill Platypussies. Didn't he create the 'shrooms and the Hemp plants? To hell with Him.

Just say anything...
by TimeBandit ini agree with a fellow who said "bigfoot is blurry.
that's why in all the pictures you see of him you can't make him out.
there's nothing scarier than the thought of a huge, out of focus monster running around in the woods!

There's nothing scarier than the thought of a huge, out of focus monster running around in the woods! Anyway, I think if they do exist, they are a lot smarter than they get credit for. They seem to have a social structure that's similar to other apes. Day and night, they may have 'sentinels' that roam the perimeters of their family to warn of danger. They communicate vocally, and can signal their presence from miles away with hoops, hollers, screams and yells. They knock big sticks on trees to tell their buddies where they are, or to warn them. It's likely they are omnivores. Eating meat whenever they get ahold of a deer or elk. Eating fruit, nuts, vegetation and grubworms may keep him going when they can't get any deer. In their younger days when they were little they could swing in the trees and have so much fun! But sadly, as the little Sasquatches grew up and got so freakin' big and tall, they could no longer do that anymore and will often reminisce about when they were little swingers.

Songs that are atmospheric
by FlyingHighNow inthis is a song thread that will take a little thought.
i'd like for you to share songs that sound atmospheric and conjure up feelings of night air or a smokey room, the energy of the ocean's roar or capture the joy of a party or celebration.
the songs can be transportive and take you other places by their sound and the visuals they evoke from the stories they tell.. my first one is from tim mcgraw.

Rein carnation
"What does Reincarnation mean?"
A cowpoke asked his friend.
His pal replied, "It happens when
Yer life has reached its end.
They comb yer hair, and warsh yer neck,
And clean yer fingernails,
And lay you in a padded box
Away from life's travails."
"The box and you goes in a hole,
That's been dug into the ground.
Reincarnation starts in when
Yore planted 'neath a mound.
Them clods melt down, just like yer box,
And you who is inside.
And then yore just beginnin' on
Yer transformation ride."
"In a while, the grass'll grow
Upon yer rendered mound.
Till some day on yer moldered grave
A lonely flower is found.
And say a hoss should wander by
And graze upon this flower
That once wuz you, but now's become
Yer vegetative bower."
"The posy that the hoss done ate
Up, with his other feed,
Makes bone, and fat, and muscle
Essential to the steed,
But some is left that he can't use
And so it passes through,
And finally lays upon the ground
This thing, that once wuz you."
"Then say, by chance, I wanders by
And sees this upon the ground,
And I ponders, and I wonders at,
This object that I found.
I thinks of reincarnation,
Of life and death, and such,
And come away concludin': 'Slim,
You ain't changed, all that much.'"Wallace McRae

I never carried a gun out in service, but I did get stoned a lot while serving in the feild. Nowadays I answer my door with a gun behind my back because you never know who's out there any more. I think it would be unfortunate if a jw got scared of me at the door and pulled a gun. That would give me the right to shoot him...

I have always had issues with self esteem. It's never been easy for me to stand up for myself. In fact, I used to frequently have these dreams where I was in a position of having to protect myself against a bully, and when I try to hit him, my blows are weak and not effective at all. Generally, I would wake up from these dreams and feel really bad about myself.
Recently though, after I turned in my letter of disassociation last summer the dream changed. In the new dream I was in a school yard. I had the distinct feeling of trouble brewing. The school yard bully made his way over to me, and poked me in the chest making some kind of demands. I grabbed his finger, and broke it. It sounded like the snapping of a candle stick. Then I grabbed a fist full of his shirt, and picked him off of the ground and pinned him to the wall, his feet are dangling...I told him that if he ever touched me again, that I'd beat him to a bloody pulp. Then, I threw him across the school yard. We could all hear him make a sick thud when he landed. After having this new version of the dream , the old version has never come back.Chris-
