by You Know inthe issue is as old as eden itself, that being: does god have the right to tell us what to do?
that core question, more than anything else, defines what jehovahs witnesses are about, in that we are outspoken advocates and supporters of jehovahs right as sovereign to require obedience from his creatures.
the flip side of that is, of course, rebellion against god, which is expressed in numerous ways and on all levels of society.

Update on my Brother and Cousin...
by mindfield inas some of you know, my brother and cousin have been planning to tell their parents about their beliefs (or rather, lack of) about the jw's and their decision not to attend meetings or convert others.. well, they did it much quicker than i ever expected.
they did it before yesterday, to be more precise.
both of them...phew.

Tatto`s
by Beans inhow many of you have gotten them since leaving or piercings?
i got my ear pierced right after i left and when i was living at home my dad said i couldn`t have it on in the house.i got a tatto about six years ago the look on my dads face was priceless at the beach but he never said anything.. beans.

I'm sick of this boring life!!

That one night....what if?
by rhett inposting in another thread made me think of a girl from years ago.. how many people out there have been so head over heals for someone but for whatever reasons couldn't be with them?.
my senior year there was this girl named lisa that i was just so in love with.
we were friends almost all year long and she had a boyfriend in the next town over which means that i couldn't date her.

A story of brotherly love.....
by Tatiana insince i've been here, from around july, 2001, i haven't really shared any personal experiences of why i left the society, except for the story about my sister who committed suicide.
this is kind of long, so i will tell it in parts.
if this is god's organization, i will gladly be a devil worshiper.. here goes....... when i was about 27 years old, (around 1984) after my divorce, i'd moved from laurens, south carolina back to andrews, sc, and rented the house beside my grandmother.

Hypocrisy Within My Own Family
by Reborn2002 inyesterday my brother (ever-loyal witness baptized same day as me 10 years ago; who is married to a holier-than-thou regular pioneer and subsequently with her encouragement has since avoided me as much as possible since i da myself) and his wife (see description above) came over to visit.. well.. shooting the proverbial shit, we got to the topic of movies.
asking politely if he or his wife had seen lord of the rings.. she interjected that it was inappropriate because it suggested wizardry and spiritism, and would never see such filth.
trying very hard to remain polite, my mom noticed the pause and said if they wanted to borrow any movies we have on tape to watch at home.. sneaky as i am, while they flapped their gums with my parents i glanced in the bag to see what they borrowed.. they took:.
